“Where the heck am I?” Wyldfyre jumped out of the wreckage that used to be her and Sora’s mech. She scanned her surroundings as Sora landed beside her.

“Well, looks pretty bad, but I don’t think this is going to be much of a problem.” Wyldfyre suddenly gasped. She realised why everything looked so oddly familiar. Sora looked at her with concern.

Wyldfyre just replied, “Dragons. Here. We’re in the habitat of dragons. That’s why everything looks so big and wild!” She smiled. The Monastery was cool and all, but she missed where she knew.

A voice behind them spoke. “Are you two…from here?” Wyldfyre and Sora both spun around. A woman in roughly her mid twenties was standing there, along with a dragon Wyldfyre had never seen before.

“No, we’re not from here, but we were caught up in the storm.” Sora replied to the woman’s question. Wyldfyre had to respect Sora’s ability at politeness , because it was the only thing Wyldfyre couldn’t do.

The dragon, who was an odd, pale orange colour, spoke up. “Wren, they seem nice, we could trust them.” Wyldfyre realised with a shock that the dragon was speaking Human and Dragon. At least, Dragon with a weird accent.

The woman, Wren, grumbled, and said, “Sky, stop telling everyone we meet my name.” Wyldfyre interrupted in Dragon. “You speak Dragon too?” Wren looked at her in surprise and respect (obviously).

“Well, now I don’t have to constantly translate conversations between you and her.” Wren smiled. Her?

In that moment, several new dragons appeared.

One of them, a Sea Dragon, grunted and said, “Well, new visitors. I really hope this doesn’t end in a world ending climax.” She looked pointedly at the other dragons.

Wyldfyre didn’t know what she meant, because obviously she was the type of person to save the world, not end it, but then she noticed Sora, who was looking at her inquisitively.

“Let’s just find a place to stay first.” She told Wren.

Crash landing in an unknown desert was not on Arin’s bucket list.

It had been a while since he first became a ninja, (and betrayed everyone) and he had not expected Lloyd’s job to be like this.

Unfortunately, it looked like Lloyd had expected this, because he just said, “Again?” And winced as he set his foot down. Arin realised it was injured. “Lloyd, maybe we should rest?” But before Lloyd could respond, a shadow swooped down and a giant dragon the colour of the sand they were standing on landed in front of them.

A woman, probably late thirties or early forties, swung down from the dragon and jumped neatly down.

Lloyd stepped forward. “Hello, we don’t mean to intrude on your property, we were just passing by,”

The woman cut him off. “I understand perfectly. You have no need to explain yourself. The Queen just knew there were two humans, one injured, so she sent me and Smoulder to check on you.”
Arin nervously asked, “Okay, but where are we?” The woman smiled. “ You are in the most vicious kingdom in Pyrrhia, the Kingdom of Sand.”

They must have looked confused, because the woman pulled out a scroll and said, “I’m Rose, and this is Smoulder.” She pointed to the regal dragon and growled something at it (Him?). The dragon—Smoulder—growled back and she turned to them, smiling.

“First off, we should get you to the Stronghold.” She glanced at Lloyd. “You need that foot bandaged up.”

 Frak woke up.

This was not how one of his first Ninja Missions was meant to go. The last thing he remembered was fighting a giant Kraken near the coast of some part of the Merged Lands, when it sent him, Nya, Riyu and Zane flying towards the land.

“Frak? You up yet?” Nya.

“Uh, yeah, I think so?” Frak responded.“Unless you’re not real and I’m hallucinating or something.” Nya chuckled.

“We found some people who could help us back. Our Mech is a little wrecked right now.”
Frak got off of the makeshift bed he was on. Are these palm fronds?

He stepped outside into the light and realised he was in a desert. The first thing he noticed was Riyu, seemingly in deep conversation with two dragons slightly bigger than him.

The second thing he noticed was that the dragons looked way different from any other dragon Frak had seen before.

The first dragon was a beautiful shade of pale green, with hints of blue and gold. Her (Frak had gotten good at guessing the genders of dragons lately, thanks Wyldfyre) wings were strange, looking more like butterfly wings than dragon wings.

The second dragon was an orangey-gold colour with splotches of black. Her wings looked more like firefly wings. A person jumped off of the firefly dragon’s neck and came up to them.

“Frak,” Nya began, “This is Axolotl, they know quite a lot about the Merged Lands, so we could use their help.” Axolotl nodded and replied, “Besides, my friends always play a part in the whole ‘saving the world’ thing so I figured I’d lend a hand.”
