Summary
Simon’s been having dreams again. Maybe dreams is inaccurate. Maybe the better word is nightmares. Whatever the case, they’re the sort of dreams he hasn’t had in years now—the sort that should have been left behind on Eden, or destroyed alongside Filament. He dreams the sort of dreams that haven’t been seen since long before the Blood Ocean gave him a new sort of nightmare.
The COI isn’t satisfied with “plain old insomnia” as an excuse to why he falls asleep on the job and nearly dies in the process. Unfortunately, before Simon can find a better lie, he’s saddled with a disgraced former captain to wheedle the truth out of him—the same captain he spent a month in a hospital bed next to, recovering from AT-5. And she’s really fucking hard to get rid of.
