Sometimes, James can’t quite believe that this is his life as he watches Sirius chasing their son around their backyard while he colors with their daughter on the patio.
He’d been surprised to say the least when Sirius had offered not a year into their marriage to undergo time as a woman give them a kid. He’d expected to let go of the dream of kids to be with Sirius (because he’d rather be with Sirius than some woman just to have a kid), but Sirius had been secretly working with their transfiguration professor for three years to invent a gender-bending spell that would allow for Sirius to give James (and himself) children.
It'd been the present of a life-time, and he’d been beyond thrilled with Sirius’ choice, especially as their son was born and then, two years later, Sirius, who had loved playing around as a woman, had gotten pregnant on accident with their daughter.
He knows, even now, that Sirius wasn’t against letting it happen again, and he loves that thought. He loves watching him be a good father with their kids, loves the life they built together, and loves that he gets to enjoy this happily ever after.
It’s exactly what he’s always wanted.
