Chapter Text
Peter Parker burst into his room in a huge fit of embarrassment. During chemistry, He had tried to invite MJ to hangout this Saturday to celebrate his 14th birthday with him and Ned at a museum. But halfway through his first sentence he was interrupted by Flash.
——————————
“That museum’s lame.” Flash mockingly stated earlier that day. Peter wanted to respond that the fact that he was comparing museums made Flash lame himself, but MJ’s voice suddenly pierced through the air, interrupting him before he started. Which was somewhat of a good thing since Flash would’ve pantsed him during PE for saying that.
“I can’t believe I’m agreeing with you,” MJ shook her head and sighed before her monotone cadence picked up again, “But yeah, the director of that museum sexually assaulted three girls from ESU and banned them when they tried to report him. He’s still on trial.”
“Oh—“ Peter was speechless. Obviously he had no idea that had happened! He only chose that place because the entry fee was cheap! He began stuttering—he practiced this conversation 79 times—but this threw off his whole game, “God— I-I didn’t know! that- that’s horrible! Uh- What about a- um- d-different—“
“S-S-S-Shut the fuck up,” Flash quickly insulted him again, making fun of the sheer amount of times Peter stumbled.
Peter for sure thought had looked like such a loser. By then his chem teacher told them to pay attention to their work, and the class was dismissed four minutes later than the actual bell so he didn’t even get the chance to try to talk to MJ again. And it seemed like MJ didn’t want to talk to him in the first place, she didn’t even spare him a glance in any of the following classes she had with him, which only added to the load of embarrassment.
——————————
He flopped face first onto his bed replaying that conversation over and over. He wasn’t paying attention to what song he was listening to but he turned the volume on his ipod all the way up.
Aunt May and Uncle Ben both had the nightshift today and already left before he got home, so Peter had the whole day to sit and wallow in self-pity.
After a few songs, Peter finally got up to get his notebook. Not a notebook filled with math or english notes, but one packed with the lyrics to the songs he would upload to Soundcloud under the user “Peter_Parker2001”.
He regrets choosing that username. If anyone searched up his name, his Soundcloud would be the first thing to pop up, which brought about endless teasing and remarks at school. And because he stupidly put the email address as [email protected], every time he tried to change it, it would send a confirmation message to an account that he had zero chance of accessing.
But he started that daily routine, this time writing lyrics about his crush on MJ. They were all corny things about her intelligence, her eyes, her personality every other thing he could think of— seriously, he wrote down how she was reading Metamorphosis last week and that she liked Black Dahlias.
He played a few heavy cords and measures on Ben’s old guitar, edited the whole thing in capcut, and went to go upload it to Soundcloud.
But when he opened the app on his phone, he was signed out. This wasn’t the first time this had happened, and because he knew the password he could easily log back in. But this time he paused and stared at one of the options in the screen.
‘Create an Account’
And instead of logging back into ‘Peter_Parker2001’, he created a new account.
He entered his actual email into the app this time, but now he was faced with a problem. What to put for the username?
He thought back to things he liked. He almost put in the first idea he thought of but he stopped, he definitely couldn’t put MJ as his user, no way. Peter went back to brainstorming. His mind wandered to his daily playlist. He couldn’t put any of The Avenger’s songs as his user, every single variation and title and lyric was taken somehow, so he went to his second option.
He clicked suffle on his playlist, and the song that was selected was Spiderhead. That sounded cool. When Spiderhead head was taken he tried a few different variations.
Peter landed on Spider_Boy. But he then deleted the last three characters. He entered another username, one he thought was much cooler.
‘Spider-Man’
Peter edited bits of his new account before uploading his song onto the software. He couldn’t make his user MJ, but he could make it the songs title. So, Peter stupidly put the song as MJ, followed by her full government name of Michelle Jones in parentheses.
After the song was up and running on his new account, Peter finally checked the clock. 11:09 PM. He had to get up earlier tomorrow because he had a robotics meeting before school. So with that knowledge, he spent two hours doing homework and other on his phone before the exhaustion caught up to him and he fell asleep.
