Work Text:
May is in Nashville, Tennessee right now, and she's falling in love with a woman who can sing better than anyone she's ever heard.
In her defense, it's totally Buck's fault for getting a boyfriend and trying to keep her from meeting him.
But like, she wasn't expecting him to invite her to come during one of his trips to visit him.
She wasn't expecting to meet Taylor and instantly fall for her beautiful smile.
"Careful, you're going to fall in love before she even introduces herself properly to you," Roxie's voice is teasing as she nudges May.
"Yeah, that might be a bit too late. She's gorgeous, she has an amazing voice, and her smile is stunning. I'm falling," May sounds like a simp.
She doesn't even know Taylor, at all, and yet, she already adores her.
"I told you, Sweetheart," Buck sounds proud, and she doesn't even turn before swinging her hand out. "Hey, that was my face!"
"You owe me half of whatever bet you took with him," replies May while watching Taylor settle her guitar to the side to talk to Blue and his girlfriend.
"Yeah, okay, I'll make sure you get your half," Buck's voice changes, and May turns to glare at him. "If you ask for her number."
"Stop teasing her," snorts Ryan as he leans into Buck's side.
"And if she doesn't give me her number, you still owe me half because you didn't tell me about the bet before we got to Nashville," May narrows her eyes.
"Dammit, okay," groans Buck as he tips his head back. "But I won't give it to you until we're home, unless you get her number."
"That's easy," Taylor's voice has May freezing, eyes going wide like a deer in headlights. "Can I have your phone, Gorgeous?"
May twists around to find Taylor smiling softly. She tugs out her phone and passes it over to her waiting hand.
"There," murmurs Taylor as she passes the phone back while a thumb brushes the corner of May's lips. "You had a little foam there. Hazelnut?"
Taylor brings her thumb to her own lips as May takes the phone and fumbles it back into place.
"Uh, yeah, Hazelnut foam and creamer," replies May nervously.
"Sweet," Taylor's smiling, and May feels breathless in the face of it.
"Yeah, it is. But you didn't just do all that to see what foam I liked," May's head tips to the side, curiosity giving her courage. "Something else you want, Doll?"
Taylor's eyes sparkle, pearly whites etching into a full bottom lip.
"Do the coffee run with me? I'd love to have you all to myself for a little while, May," offers Taylor as she holds out her hand.
"I'd love to," replies May as she takes the offered hand and follows her.
Yeah, Buck's definitely not letting her live this down.
But he's also not allowed to go to Nashville by himself ever again.
So, it's a win-win either way.
