Blythe knows this is a bad idea the minute she steps foot in the bar.
But she needs to talk to Dixie.
Blythe knows Dixie isn't the only one to blame for that night.
Don can cause all the ripples he wants, but Blythe's fixing this one before it can hurt their children.
She watches Dixie come away from the stage, drink still full as it settles on the bar.
Blythe approaches hesitantly.
"Dixie, I think we need to talk," Blythe's voice is gentle.
"Yeah? I think DonDon did enough talking for everyone," replies Dixie with a wave of her hand.
"He's also an idiot who doesn't take responsibility for his mistakes, so let's not use him as a meter for communication," replies Blythe because she knows her husband.
She loves him, but she's not stupid.
"Ignoring your husband? Doesn't sound like a happy marriage, Princess," snorts Dixie with a half-smirk. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Blue knows about his conception, but I don't know who told him. He's staying with Roxie because she's giving him chores," replies Blythe softly, following her gut. "He wants nothing to do with us and refuses to stay with Ry or Tay. He's one stubborn young man, Dixie. Just like his Momma."
"I told him," replies Dixie with a half-shrug, but her voice twinges with hurt. "I had him text me when he figured out where he was staying. He needed to know."
"You're a good mom," Blythe means it, and she can see the surprise in Dixie's eyes. "The path might have been winding, but Blue is a good man, and that's because of you."
"I appreciate that, Princess, but what're you doing here?" asks Dixie as she tips her head to the side.
"I wanted to come see you," replies Blythe as she steps forward, her hand taking Dixie's. "Donnie was just as in the wrong that night, he could've worn a condom. Our whole situation has been messy, but it shouldn't be something we hold over each other. So, I'd like to revisit our rules, and I want you to know there is forgiveness here. I don't want to hold a grudge, Dixie."
"Thank you, Princess," murmurs Dixie quietly as she squeezes Blythe's hand. "I don't want there to be a grudge anymore either. Once I've got my money sorted, I will pay y'all back for the surgery. We should make sure there are no secrets between us. Our boys deserve parents who aren't fighting constantly.
"Let's go back to yours, I'll grab some wine, and we can hash it out tonight. Put this to rest so we can give our boys the support they need that Donnie isn't giving," Blythe's tone is full of understanding and when Dixie giggles, she knows she's not alone in the worry.
Something about that giggle though… It makes her heart flutter a bit sweeter all of a sudden.
She's not sure that's a good thing, but she'll worry about it later.
