Seonghwa sighed contentedly as he brought his comforter up to his chin, the smell of clean, familiar sheets reminding him that he was finally back home. Ateez’s concert in Kuala Lumpur had ended a few days ago and, although he was always happy to travel the world and perform, the constant back-and-forth to and from Korea had started to take a toll on him. The weight of touring lifting off of his shoulders, Seonghwa looked up at his ceiling and pushed away any thoughts running circles in his mind, focusing instead on the heaviness of his blanket around his body and the slow rumbling of the air purifier at the foot of his bed.
A quiet knock interrupted the silence, prompting Seonghwa to look up at his door. A moment later, San poked his head through, watching Seonghwa with a soft look in his eyes, “Can I come in hyung?”
Seonghwa moved closer to the wall by his bed, lifting up the covers as he spoke, eyes already closing, “Come sleep Sannie, it’s warm.”
San paused, hesitating before he moved closer and slid under the sheets, uncharacteristically stiff “Can we talk first?”
“Talk about what?” Seonghwa asked, now more awake than before.
San’s tired sigh echoed through the room as he prepared to speak, “You know you can always confide in me, right?”
Seonghwa simply hummed, allowing San to continue talking, “Yes, when we started dating we both agreed that we shouldn’t stop the fanservice with other members or make our relationship obvious, but I know sometimes it still burns; you don't have to hide from me."
Lifting his hand out from under the comforter, Seonghwa let his fingers card through San’s hair reassuringly, “Sannie what happened? Is this because of something that happened during the fanmeet? I’m sorry baby, what did I do wrong? How can I help?”
San frowned at the words, looking up to meet Seonghwa’s eyes, “What are you talking about? You did nothing wrong. Aren’t you mad at me?”
Seonghwa’s hand stilled as he combed through all of the day’s events, “Why would I be mad at you?” he said after some time, voice slow and soft.
Incredulous, San paused, looking at Seonghwa in mild confusion before he spoke, “There’s a video of Wooyoung and I trending at the moment?”
A low chuckle slipped past Seonghwa’s lips before he could stop it, “San if I was mad at you every time a video of you and Wooyoung trended this relationship would never work out.” he cupped San’s face between his hands smiling at the pout on the other’s lips as he continued, “I’m not mad at you because I love you and trust you and, even if I haven’t seen whichever video you’re talking about, I know you and I know you love me too. It’s as easy as that.”
San groaned, wrapping his arms around Seonghwa’s waist and pulling him closer, “You can’t just say stuff like that, you’ll make a guy fall in love.”
Seonghwa laughed, eyes closing with the force of his smile before he put on an exaggerated sombre expression, “Now, now,” he said, poking San’s nose with his finger, “You better already have fallen mister, otherwise we’re going to have to talk about that video more seriously.”
Burrying his face under the covers to hide the pink on his cheeks, San let out an outraged grumble, “I was just worried that you were upset because you haven't said a word to me all day.”
Heart sinking to his stomach with guilt, Seonghwa pulled down the covers to look San in the eyes, “I’m so sorry baby. I was tired and pushed everyone away. That’s entirely my fault. I shouldn’t have ignored you, even if by mistake.”
San hummed languidly, acknowledging the apology but not truly upset. Tightening his grip around Seonghwa he spoke lazily, “I’ll forgive you if you kiss me?”
Seonghwa smiled, relieved, before leaning in to press their lips together softly. Moving back slightly, he looked at San, concern still written in the lines of his face. “Before we sleep can I just know what brought this on? You said it burns Sannie, I’m not going to ignore that.”
Hiding his face in Seonghwa’s shirt, San groaned out a few words, his sentence coming out as a warbled mess.
Seonghwa blinked in confusion at the sound, “What did you say?” he asked.
San shifted quickly, pushing Seonghwa’s shoulders into the mattress and lifting himself up to frame him with his arms. Looking at Seonghwa from above him, he spoke clearly, “Now this house ain’t a home.”
Looking up, Seonghwa thought for a second before speaking, “What about it?”
San huffed, the pout on his lips growing, “You and Yunho; you look good together.”
Seonghwa let out a small sound to show he was still listening, urging San to continue speaking.
“And the two of you make tiktoks together all the time, I always see posts about you being his ‘girlfriend’”
Seeing that San was upset, Seonghwa reached up to place a comforting hand on his arm, “Sannie, what can I do to reassure you that no matter how many videos I film with Yunho I’ll still come back to sleep in your arms just like this?” he asked, tone pleading and worried.
San groaned, lowering himself to bury his nose in the crook of Seonghwa’s neck and breathing deeply, “It’s not that I think you’ll leave. I just know I’m the one who got lucky, and sometimes I want everyone to know you’re off limits.”
Seonghwa felt his face heat up, heart stuttering in his chest, “Don’t say stuff like that, it’s not good for my heart!” he choked out.
San sighed blissfully, warm breath tickling Seonghwa’s neck “What? It’s not like I’m wrong?”
Speechless, Seonghwa hit San’s shoulder lightly, rolling the two of them over so they rested on their sides “Where the hell is all this confidence coming from all of a sudden Choi San?” he said flustered, coughing lightly to get his thoughts back in order, “Alright, how about this? When the fanservice gets too much, we tap the other twice,” he said, tapping San’s shoulder twice to demonstrate, “Just so that the other knows and can tone it down.“
Pulling Seonghwa closer to himself and holding him tightly, San hummed in approval, “I guess that could work, but only if you promise that you’ll tell me if anything bothers you.”
“I can do that." Seonghwa easily agreed, "I promise I won’t shut you out if anything makes me upset,” he added, lips tilting up into a small smile.
San smiled back at him, heart settled, “Fine then”, he said, interrupting himself to press a delicate kiss on Seongha’s lips, “Now, let’s sleep.”
Expression serene, Seonghwa laughed quietly, “Yes, please.”
San’s eyes soften at the sight, “I love you”, he whispered, words warm and fond.
Seonghwa’s eyes narrowed playfully, “Well, I love you more.”
San chuckled, “Not possible babe,” he said, pressing small kisses all over Seonghwa’s face, “Just sleep.”
