Work Text:
Usually, Gwen was the one who dealt with the nightmares and night terrors.
But not tonight.
She awoke to the sound of screaming coming from Finney's room, and quickly lept out of bed to find him before their dad did. Sure, their dad had gotten better, but that fear never truly goes away.
When she got into his room, she found him screaming and thrashing in his sleep. She hastily ran to his side and began shaking him, begging him to wake up.
When he did, he didn't recognize who she was, and shoved her away violently. She staggered back as he began to process what was happening.
"Shit" he breathed. "Shit, Gwennie, I'm sorry, I-"
"It's okay" she said softly. "You were having a nightmare"
"I'm fine" he quickly put on his stone-cold facade. She hated this part of him. It wasn't him. Her brother was not an angry person.
Or, at least, he hadn't always been.
"Finney, please, I want to help-"
"I said I'm fine, okay?" he bit. "Nothing's wrong, stop asking" he breathed heavily. He didn't like talking about it. He hated that vulnerability.
God, if Robin could see you now...
"Okay" Gwen said softly. "I love you..."
"Yeah, I love you too"
