Summary
Mary Hatford’s escape plan failed after only 2 years on the run. Neil was taken to Evermore and raised in the Nest. Only now, after Kevin has joined the Foxes, does Riko allow Neil to accompany him in the world outside Evermore. Neil is on his own side. He knows he’ll never truly have people who will protect him so he has to protect himself. Kevin’s betrayal taught him as much. Yet the more chance encounters he has with a certain blond goalie, the more Neil starts to question the way his life has been planned out for him. He’s always wanted to run. But up until meeting Andrew Minyard he’s never had anything to run towards.
Riko took a subconscious step back when they both realized who Andrew Minyard’s target was. Kevin was about 15 feet behind as he was trying to catch up to his teammate, obviously to stop him, but he wouldn’t get to him in time.
Neil tried to step in front of Riko before Andrew could reach him but he was promptly shoved out of the way as the shorter man used one arm to slam him against the wall and out of his path.
“My problem is not with you, lackey,” Andrew simply said without even sparing Neil a glance as he advanced on Riko
