Topside's own Dr. Jayce Talis takes a field assignment treating patients in the dangerous and derided borough of Zaun. But on one fateful, foggy night, the good doctor succumbs to obsession over a nameless 'dark angel' standing beneath a lamppost with a bullet lodged in its neck. In the Lanes lit by that same lamplight, love grows between a very good doctor and a very good patient, though the patient is far more than he seems.
Amidst the age of "the Ugly Laws" and the rise of the mob in 1940s America, Dr. Jayce Talis finds himself on a course beyond his comprehension, leading to an ending where only the man he loves can win.
