Work Text:
It was a Wednesday, with some money left over you decided to go to an thrift store. It was old-timey to say the least, stacks of dusty unlabeled books scattered around. A few clothes racks that had reminded you of your grandmother. After peering around you decode to sit down on one of the old couches, reading over a old book, seemingly about some love story, god did william have to be so crude to isabella? I pondered about the book. A man joins you. Tall and slightly buff, longhair and a stubble beard with a utterly polished moustach. he looks down at you and your book. Your eyes follow his till they meet back at yours, his round eyes almost gave him a permanent crazed stare. The next few seconds drifted into awkwardness. "Uh, hey." The man says in a deep but smooth voice. "Hey" you reply softly, you cringe in your head, you can't help but be soft spoken, even in dire situations. Pros and cons. the tone of his voice could be suggested there was more to say but he just looked at you. You bit your lip, a most of the time unconscious habit. Though today everything I seemed to be aware of how I moved. He looked at my book again, "you read alot?" My eyes roamed his face before I nodded. This small talk was kinda pathetic, I shook my head in disbelief to myself as I looked down at my book then back at him, "yeah I like to read; do you read much?" I waited for an answer, he seemed nervous. "Yeah. Yeah I read, I like the old books and horror story's mostly", I smiled softly "cool, me too." This conversation seemed to go one forever and there was no click in what to talk about. It only took a minute of thinking to bring up a semi relevant topic "you here looking for books? Or something.." he smiled softly, I suddenly realized why I was so aware of every move I made. This man was ethereal, I tried not to think about that knowing the enevedible fact I would go red would start. God I was pathetic. "Partially-" he looked at my book, this whole time I was still on the same page, he raises a brow slightly and picked up the book, his fingers brushing against mine, while still holding that soft smile which was now almost a smirk. While holding my gaze he lifted to book to read from the page I was on. After a few seconds he continued "I was here to see if I could find a bookshelf or two, inevitably I found books with it. And you, it seems." his eyes drifted over the book and back at me. What did that mean? And me? Is that a good thing? Should I ask if it's a good thing? I have to say something. I nodded. Why would I just nod? Dammit. Just talk. "Is that a bad thing then? You finding me" I said with hidden confidence. "No, apart from you being utterly distracting, not at all.." he was now just looking at you, you looked stunned. "You know, this book is quite good, I might buy it" your competitive mode kicked it like a child "Hey! I found it first" his smirk turned wicked "but you let it go" you frown, trying to hide the smile that threatened to come out, obviously you couldn't hide it very well "oh come on, down act mad. I do love your smile." that had done it. I could feel my face heating up "shut up.." I muttered "take the stupid book then..." I sat there red but this time slightly annoyed, at myself. "Don't be like that, I could lend it to you. But ofcourse I can't just give things to people I don't know, can I?" His eyes looked you up and down. it definitely didn't help your beet red face "im Johnathan, and who might you be?" you met his gaze again, almost unwilling you let him have your name. You gave in "im lillith" he smiled, "what a.. divine name" he smirked at his own words. I caught the double meaning "thanks, Jonathan is pretty cool I guess.." a pause "..tell you what, I'll let you have the book... if we exchange numbers? Hmm? How's that sound, pretty?" God, as if my face couldn't go any more red "i-.. uh.. yeah" he grinned and took out a pen, flipping to the hardcover page of the book and writing his number on it, before handing it to me. "You know I have like paper in my ba-" "ah, but how would you remember my charming face that easily" I smiled a little "I'll be sure to text" "now, since I have accomplished my mission-" I interrupted "I though you where here to find book shelves?" He looked up and slid closer, almost as if telling a secret "actually,-" he pause and chuckled, before continuing "I really only came in here because I saw you through the window... now I'm the one who's a little embarrassed." I smile, the red on my face had fallen to a slight pink in my cheeks now, matching his "well then soldier, mission accomplished indeed." I glance at the clocks, 1.30 "while, I would love to chat with you I am famishe-." I click my toungue thinking "would you like to get lunch? Together ofcourse?" He replied swiftly not wasting a second "would I? Well since you insist I couldn't disappoint you by withholding my graciousness" he got up extending his hand dramatically "well come on" I smile and take his hand, holding the book in the other, walking with him to the checkout, buying the book then walking out with him. "You know William isn't so bad in the end." I look at him confused "William?... oh you mean the book, how ever would you know what he turns out to be?" He smiles, brushing his thumb against you hands "your very soft" "thank you? You still didn't answer my question though." He reached into his bag, pulling out. Book, and flipping it so I could see "well iv read it" I paused "w-.. why where you so determined to get the book if you already had it then?" I say almost laughing, astonished "well to capture your interest ofcourse. I see a beautiful girl looking at books, my everloving passion, and when I approach her, she's reading the very book I am. Though I can't be sure William won't fall though at the end. So far he's good, but you never know, do you?" he looked at you, his words seemed to have double meanings again "arguably so. Unless William turned out to be a horrible person, I would say what annoying he was in the beginning wouldn't matter. That Isabella would fall in love with his kindness. Though we will have to see, won't we?" Finally I had somewhat matched his wit, he caught on and smiled before crossing the street abruptly, pulling me with him closely, I laughed at his recklessness "where are you taking me?" I said while giggling slightly "you will love it, trust me" I smiled "im not sure where that far int-" before I could finish he pulled me onto a cable car, softly pulling my into a place right next to him. "Well it's a bit late to ask, but you wouldn't have anything going on this afternoon would you?" I looked at him dazed "no, nothing at all" he pulled you closer "well that's just wonderfull for me
