    Summary

After the war Hermione Granger joined the Ministry, and soon learns that you can rationalise anything if the logic is sound enough.

The Pureblood Registration Act seemed reasonable when she helped draft it. Just documentation.
The asset seizures seemed justified. They had enabled persecution.
The monitoring program seemed necessary. Someone had to maintain oversight.
The Purity Investigation Courts seemed like a logical response to extremism.
Step by step, policy by policy, signature by signature.

She built it with the same brilliance she'd used to fight Voldemort. Methodical. Thorough. Convinced of her righteousness.

This is a story about the banality of evil, the seduction of righteousness, and how easily victims become perpetrators. About power that strangles instead of liberates. About finding grace in the ruins of what you've broken. This is about falling from grace, and the slow, agonising climb back up.

A note on the title, inspired by the song "Grace" by Jeff Buckley: The title (Grace) signifies a saving quality, a way to handle life’s trials (growth, tragedy, and love) that keeps a person from "pulling the trigger too soon".
