Matchmaking

Summary:

Playing matchmaker was one of Cyrene's favorite pastimes. Once in a blue moon she'll pull up to school with a pink notebook in hand. What's inside, you ask? Only a list of her potential clients of course! Trust me, it is tried and tested with a 89% success rate.

Notes:

It's been a long 7 months since I last posted a Hyacipher fic so I'm back with another on April Fools(but this isn't an April Fools joke I swear!) I absolutely loved writing this one, I'll have another Hyacipher fic out soon this time its explicit... but I hope you all enjoy this one!

Work Text:

Playing matchmaker was one of Cyrene's favorite pastimes. Once in a blue moon she'll pull up to school with a pink notebook in hand. What's inside, you ask? Only a list of her potential clients of course! Trust me, it is tried and tested with a 89% success rate.

She skips along the path to school, notebook in one hand and a pen in the other. It's glitter pink ink staining each page as she lists down all the students she believes would be a great match for one another, crossing one line with another like a puzzle.

"I see you're playing Matchmaker today." Phainon commented, his hands in his pockets as he makes the very obvious observation.

"Uh-huh! And I've already gotten myself a client who's been waiting for this day to come."

"Am I allowed to know who it is?"

"Nope!" Cyrene said, "all clients have a 100% anonymity. Maybe you should try being one of my clients Phai, maybe that way you and a certain someone can finally get together." She giggles before skipping and twirling ahead of the baffled Phainon.

"Wha— ugh, hey!" He said as he tried to catch up with her only to be stopped by Mydei who had been looking for him. She hid behind a tree as she looked upon the scene that was unfolding before her.

Yes, that's right. Mydei was one of her most recent clients. He had booked for her to come help him finally resolve his long standing issue that is his relationship with Phainon, her own brother. When she had gotten this phone call from him needless to say she was absolutely elated.

Now that the stage was set, there was no need for her to intervene. As Mydei would have everything he needed to make this all come true. They had spend the past few days stringing together a couple of ideas to make their day monumental, nay. Even more than that! What she had today however, would regard to more planning for a certain feline friend.

"Hello Ciphy!" Cyrene said as she snuck up from behind the troublemaking student. Cifera.

"Geez! You scared the shit out of me." Cipher said, slapping the stack of papers in her hands on her face.

"Sorry, sorry. I just wanted to get back at you for that one time in the bathroom." There was not a time these two have ever been in a bathroom alone before, nor has she done anything to Cyrene. She just… felt like it. Teehee~

"What time in the bathroom?" Cipher asked but waved it off a moment later. "Ah whatever, I need you to be on your best behavior today. Nothing about this day can go wrong."

"Right. Don't even worry! I'll make sure that everything goes according to plan." Cyrene nodded. Cipher had tasked her with creating a scenario where she and a certain assistant nurse would bump into each other and spend the day learning more about each other before finally ending up together.

Of course there's no guarantee that it'll all fall into place in just one day, but she wasn't going to say that to someone who was hoping for it to just happen all in one go. So, she had to do her best!

Cipher lines up the pieces of paper she was holding across the table as Cyrene sat on the chair opposite to her. She took a quick scan over Cipher's plans and was actually quite impressed. She had already planned out a meticulously designed course for the two of them to take. Never in her years of matchmaking has there been anyone coming into this with a plan, and not one would ever top this!

Many people would see Cipher and think of her as some slacker troublemaker who knows no better than to cause trouble and make a ruckus, but that was far from the truth. She was one of the highest scorers in her grade here in Okhema Academy, and not to mention, is an outstanding athlete with an amazing talent for basketball, volleyball, and all sorts of balls. If you catch my drift~ It was no wonder she's had plenty of girls falling for her, not just in talent or grades but also her looks. Cyrene had to admit the first time she saw her it felt like she saw a dream come true.

"So, how is it?" Cipher said, bringing her back from her thoughts.

"Oh uhm..!" Cyrene quickly took one of the papers and started to look it over one by one. "It's very meticulous."

"It has to be. One wrong step needs a dozen backups."

"That's true but I doubt you would need this many. I mean… just… just look at you. No one would dare say no to you!"

"Uh-huh, sure. Unless you're Hyacine. Do you know how many proposals that girl gets? At least 3 a week! I need to be more than better than all of those ghouls to score a date with her." Cipher huffed, taking one piece of paper from the many she'd spread across the table and read it to herself silently. Cyrene watched as her face changed expressions in such a short amount of time.

"I think you're thinking to little of yourself." Cyrene said, placing a hand on her shoulder. It was supposed to be a comforting act, it's worked plenty of times before on other clients that were feeling pretty nervous. But…

"You kidding? I think very highly of myself, I'm basically set after college. This single uncertainty is literally driving me up the wall! She's not like any other girl I've met, she really isn't. Every attempt I make at trying to flirt or god forbid try to get to know her she completely shuts it down." Cipher groans. "It's like… it's like I'm facing a wall!"

Cyrene ponders for a moment before she quickly turns over a page and starts writing something down. Cipher looks at her with confusion written all over her but patiently waits for her to finish. When she was done she turned the paper over to Cipher. On glitter pink ink it wrote:

"Be who you are..?" Cipher scoffs, "now is not the time to be joking."

"I'm not, I swear." She says through stifled laughter. "I think the best way for you to get her is to understand who she is and be so unapologetically yourself that she has no other choice but to accept you as you."

Cipher grows quiet and it makes Cyrene extremely nervous. It was a shot in the dark, she didn't know this Hyacine person very well if she had to be honest. She has never in her years of being in this school had to go to the nurse's office for anything. She's been as healthy as a dromas for as long as she could remember! But… from what she knew of Hyacine from Cipher's descriptions she wasn't one for those shallow little things, she would want something deep, to know that person by heart.

"This Hyacine girl must be a kind and selfless person, miss Cipher. If you truly want to be with her, opening up would be the best way to start." Cyrene said, taking all of the papers from the table before reaching over and giving them to Cipher.

Cipher hesitates, "…no." She pushes the papers away and stands up. "You're right. Maybe… maybe I'm being a total coward. A fool."

She walks away and Cyrene runs after her. She runs and runs, completely out of breath once she finally caught up with the girl. When she finally stops she finds Cipher sitting on a chair in the clinic of the school. A place she was very unfamiliar with so finding a spot to watch the two was quite difficult.

She decided to stay hidden by the door frame. Despite the doors being made of glass, she was lucky enough that there were curtains in front of it to hide her presence.

"…hey." Cipher said, to Hyacine she believes it to be.

A cheery voice greets her in return. "Cipher, its so wonderful to see you! Though I hope you didn't get yourself injured again, have you?"

Cipher chuckles, "no, not this time. I… actually came here to see you."

Cyrene peaked through the little gap between the curtains, she could barely make out Cipher and who she believed to be Hyacine, with her pink and bouncy hair.

"Me?" She laughs lightly. Cipher was right, she was the kind of person to let go of things as easily as a dromas would take food from anyone.

"Is it so hard to believe?"

"A little, most patients would rather not be here. It brings back bad memories, you know?" Hyacine was cleaning a vial in her hands, seemingly too focused on her goal to be looking at Cipher who was busy fidgeting in her chair.

"Nothing about the clinic brings back any bad memories for me. To me… seeing you is like medicine already."

"You're funny, Cipher." She laughs, "you might be the first to say that."

"I hope I'll be the last." Cipher pauses, she could see her take a big breath in before she spoke up once more. "Say… I know that you get these kinds of gestures from many of people but… do you wanna go out for coffee? We can just go out and get some coffee, it doesn't have to be anything special I just wanted to get to know you better an—"

"Yes."

"Huh?" Cipher said, standing up from shock. Cyrene could faintly hear a bottle or something hollow drop to the floor.

"Yes, I will go with you for coffee."

"…you're kidding."

"I'm not!" Hyacine said, "I've actually been waiting for you to say that."

"Then… let's go!" Cipher, after a long time of seriousness, finally let out a loud laugh of relief. Taking Hyacine by the hand and hugging her, to which she reciprocated with as much enthusiasm as the taller girl.

And that wraps up another satisfied client in Cyrene's book.
