Summary
Will Graham was a guy who collected rescue dogs, kept them in his life as a part of his own little family. They had cured his loneliness in a house he returned to alone every day. In this world, where your soulmate manifests into an animal—which are called Confidants—that best represents them, Will's Confidant was a late blossomer. So, while his peers were already getting married to their soulmates or having fun with their Confidants, he was a lonely one for a while. He wouldn't feel the absence of it, no. Unless the topic opened up and someone eventually asked how his Confidant was. He didn't answer, opting to evade his eyes and stare to a distance.
Just as he was sitting on his sofa in his cozy lounge, a fox appeared out of thin air in front of him and made him wish that maybe he was better off without a soulmate.
