Work Text:

I wish I was a cloud..

They don’t have to pay taxes, or work.

They don’t have to feed themselves, or constantly pay attention.

They don’t have to follow rules, or breathe air.

They don’t have to feel sad, or happy.
They can be whatever they want without being judged.

They don’t have to sleep or become tired.

I wish I was a cloud..

They don’t tire, and can watch the moon endlessly.
And when they get bored of the moon, or it turns day, they can just watch earth.

They don’t get embarrassed, or shy.
They don’t have to be careful with sharp objects, or be good at sports

They don’t have to fit in, or be cool
They don’t have to learn how to swim, or dance.

Or how to get straight A’s, or become a student council member.

I wish I was a cloud…

They don’t have to eat, or pretend to be happy.
They don’t have to be liked, or do workouts.

They don’t have to be careful with what they wear, or be worried about a dress code.

They don’t have to stay awake even while half asleep. Or go to bed late, and wake up early.

I wish I was a cloud…

They don’t have to listen to the terrible things happening to entire countries, communities or continents.

They don’t have to have choices, or be expected to.

They don’t have to constantly live in fear, like some people.

They don’t get sick or have to eat medicines.

I wish I was a cloud..

They don’t get addicted to pills drugs or alcohol.
They don’t have to pay taxes or work at a job.

They don’t have to go to school, or get bullied.

They can’t be called names.
Gay, lesbian, bisexual
Things that shouldn’t even be seen as offensive

They don’t cry, or weep
They don’t have to find out how to act or what to say.

They don’t have to choose a religion or be shamed for it.

I wish I was a cloud…

They can simply watch the earth, as people suffer along with it.

They peacefully float across the dying earth,
As they see the humans destroying themselves.

I wish I was a cloud…

They don’t have to worry about things, even when the humans are playing politics and creating imaginary lines known as their “borders”

They don’t have to be scared as people die from bombs, guns and attacks.

I wish I was a cloud…

They see the beautiful, unblemished rest of our universe.

The parts that may not ever be affected by us.

I wish I was a cloud…

Do you too?
