“You’re awfully cute,” Magnolia said to the boy she’d run into, tilting her head to the side. She was dressed to the nines as usual, hoping that while she was on the exchange trip to Japan, she’d get herself a boyfriend, reminding Rose she didn’t stand a chance.
“Thank you!” the boy said, not caring that a girl just called him cute, grinning ear to ear.
“Though the backpack is a bit…” And then she grinned. “I can overlook that!”
The boy frowned. “What is wrong with my backpack? Is it normal for school?”
“So, you’re not, like, an adult,” Magonolia said.
“No, I’m not.”
“How would you like to go on a date with me, Magnolia Breeland?” Magonolia asked, batting her blond eyes at the guy.
“Uh, maybe…”
“You’re just jealous because you’re not pretty enough…”
“You’re both pretty,” the boy said. “And yeah. Let’s go!”
“Now!” Magnolia said, as the boy dragged her away, and Rose followed after, shaking her head as if she had done something wrong. Her face flushed up, and Rose sighed.
“Magnolia, you’re going to regret…”
“No way am I going to regret this!” Magnolia said, only—
“What the hell is this?”
“Play date!”
