The first thing Trevor notices when he wakes up is that it is still dark out. He looks over at his alarm clock. 2 AM. The second thing Trevor notices after waking up is the sound of rocks pelting at his window. The third thing he notices is that it’s raining. Pouring, even. This makes him shoot out of his bed. It’s raining, while someone hurls rocks at his window. He quickly makes his way to the window and opens it, peering out.
”The hell took you so long?” A voice from below startles. Looking down, Trevor notices that the voice is Finn, which is weird. He’s not usually busy on a Saturday morning, but he never exactly sneaks out this early in the morning.
“Wha—what—why are you here?” Trevor stammers.
”See, I’d tell you if I wasn’t standing drenched in the pouring rain.” Finn deadpans.
“Oh—yeah, sorry. Come on in.” Trevor replies. In response, Finn starts clambering up onto the top of the porch. He puts a leg onto Trevor’s windowsill and held a hand out expectantly. Trevor grabbed his hand and clasped their fingers together, pulling him in. Finn stumbles, and Trevor stabilizes him, causing him to land a little too close for comfort. Their faces are inches apart—Trevor can feel Finn’s hot breath on his lips as he tilts his head down to look at him. Finn is gazing into his eyes, almost… lovingly. He glances down at his lips for just a second too long for it to just be friendly. Trevor leans in ever so slightly when—
SLAM! The door loudly hits the wall. There, stands Trevor’s sister, Reese. She flicks her eyes between the two suspiciously, and then steps out of the room, closing the door behind her.
They glance at each other, then both awkwardly look away with furiously red faces.
Trevor steps over to his bed, and Finn seems to get the message. The two crawl into bed, lying down. With how long they’ve known each other, it’s nothing out of the ordinary for Finn to end up with his head on his best friend’s chest with the latter’s hands wrapped around his waist, caressing his soft curls slowly, Finn often times sitting in his lap and falling asleep that way. Today, though, even though they do the same, it feels a bit different.
Finn shifts from his side of the bed, turning to Trevor and crawling to the middle. Trevor shuffles towards him and gently wraps his arms around him. Finn curls into Trevor’s chest, listening to his rapid heartbeat. Finn’s best friend tangles their legs together and moves a hand up to Finn’s hair to run his fingers through it. This action makes Finn let out a small noise of comfort and move even closer.
“Hey, Trevor?” He whispers in a small voice.
”Yes?” Trevor answers immediately.
”What… was that before?”
Trevor doesn’t respond. Instead, he uses two fingers to gently lift Finn’s chin so that he’s looking into his eyes.
“Trevor?” He asks again.
”What do you want it to be..?” Trevor acknowledges.
Finn’s eyes quickly dart away. His face reddens, and he seems embarrassed. Trevor just stares at him. After a moment, Finn looks back, mouth slightly parted in wonder. Trevor cups his cheek.
”Is this okay?”
Finn nods, so Trevor dives in. Suddenly, their lips are connected. Finn is shocked at his eagerness, but moves his lips against him. After a minute, Finn moves back to take a breath, but Trevor immediately pulls him in for another kiss, filled with so much love and adoration that even he himself is shocked. Finally, they pull away.
”I love you.” Trevor quickly exclaims, not looking away once.
”What..—no you don’t. We just had our first kiss, it’s just a heat of the moment thing.” Finn reasons.
”No, I do. I love you. I’m in love with you.” He insists.
”No no no, don’t lie to me about that. You don’t love me. You can—“ He never finishes as Trevor places another soft kiss on his lips.
”I do, I’m in love with you. I love your eyes, the way they sparkle in the sunlight. I love your hair, it’s such a pretty color. I love how when you get excited you act like a puppy, I love how when you don’t like something but feel bad about it you make a small disgusted face for just a second but still smile and say you like it. I love how you apologize when you get even the idea that you may have some something wrong, I love how you always try to help people, how you always give small gifts, how you notice the little things in people, how you don’t mind when people talk to others. I love how you don’t show off, how you love giving compliments, how you are never rude but would defend your friends with your life… I do love you, Finn. I have for years.”
Finn looks absolutely starstruck.
”…I love you too.”
