Work Text:
People often thought Duang’s power had something to do with art. It was common for people to choose jobs related to their innate skills, after all. But Duang didn’t want to be a doctor, a medic, a first responder. He was a coward that way. His brother once broke a bone and Duang nearly fainted at the sight.
“That’s not cowardice,” Qin told him. “Whoever told you that is an asshole.”
Both Qin and Duang liked creating. Bringing new things to life. Art and music. Complements. Beautiful alone, breathtaking together.
“Hey, Duang! Stop daydreaming and answer the question,” Jamie said, snapping his fingers.
Duang tilted his head to the side, confused.
His friends sighed.
“Are the rumors true?” Pae repeated. “Does Qin have ice powers?”
Still confused, Duang asked, “Why would he have ice powers?”
“Because he’s so cold and aloof. Duh.”
Duang whined, shaking his head. “Qin isn’t cold. He’s cute and kind.”
His friends rolled their eyes.
“He’s sweet!” Duang insisted, pouting. “Like cotton candy!”
Now Jamie laughed. “Sure. And I’m the Blue Giant.”
Narrowing his eyes, Duang said, “But he’s American?”
His friends threw their hands up, declared him hopeless, and walked away. Duang was so confused.
