Chapter Text
Lady Elizabeth ‘Buffy’ Summers doesn’t recognize the girl in her mirror. The one with coiffed hair and a beautiful dress, preparing to market herself off to the highest bidder. The one with her face.
The ladies’ maid did a good job making her nearly unrecognizable.
“Buffy, wear my earrings,” Joyce insists, pushing her favorite pearls to Buffy, her frail hands shaking as she does. She was supposed to be resting, but she’d been adamant that she see Buffy off before the Wyndam-Pryce ball tonight. “So I’m still with you tonight.”
This is why she’s selling herself off. For her mother.
