This is very much an AU piece. It's Part 1 of what will probably end up being 3 parts of my Greatest Love Story fic. I'll update the tags as needed. All chapter titles are from different songs.
This is how Angelus & William first meet--my version. It involves a chance-meeting and instant attraction that will quickly spiral into something more. There will be a good bit of smut & violence and some fluff as well even though Angelus is most definitely not a fluffy character.

Six years later, most the world, along with almost everyone Buffy has ever cared about, is gone, and all she has left is the fight. At least, that’s all she has until an old friend comes to her with an opportunity, a chance to change things, to make everything right.
Two weeks later, after her conditions are agreed to, Buffy and Giles’s mind and souls are sent back to their younger bodies, where it is two days before thanksgiving 1999. While there are a lot of things, they both want to change, and things they know they need to, what they are most determined to do is make sure Spike is treated the way he deserves.

Elizabeth Summers has been left destitute and alone, save her young sister Dawn after the outbreak of cholera in Paris, causing the young Summers ladies to be placed in the care of a finishing school, training orphaned girls of affluence in the art of being the perfect wife and matchmaking through 'mail-order'.
Elizabeth's headstrong ways have deterred suitors so far, but if she is to save herself and Dawn from a life of poverty she must learn to obtain and maintain a suitable match. Her arranged marriage to the foppish Mr. Pratt may be just the start she needs to escape destitution, after all a marriage of convenience is far better than one of love.
And who could love someone as awkward and spineless as Mr. Pratt? -
