Work Text:
You would think that being a doctor would mean that your husband would be able to take care of himself.
You were clearly wrong.
Flu season was here and John hadn’t been careful and cautious as he should’ve been. He hadn’t been wearing a mask as much as he should be, not keeping up with his vitamins and immunity boost drinks.
Now he lays there in bed, pouting like a sad child.
What started as a sniffle and an infrequent cough resulted in full on congestion, sore limbs, fatigue, coughing nonstop.
You resorted to sleeping in the guest bed because you didn’t want to get sick. However, your husband, would constantly call out your name for something.
“HONEEEY! CAN YOU REFILL MY WATER?!”
“HONEY, CAN YOU TURN THE HEATER ON?!”
“HONEEEEY! CAN YOU MAKE ME SOME SOUP?!”
John is soooo lucky you work from home or else he’d have to fend for himself.
When you enter the bedroom, you can’t help but chuckle at the sight. John’s nose is plugged up with tissues, he’s wrapped in your fuzzy pink robe, and he has a cold compress on his forehead.
“You look so sad, babe.”
“I am sad! I feel like shit and my wife has locked me up in here!” he pouts up at you and you playfully roll your eyes.
You sit at the edge of the bed and pats down his bed-head. “I wouldn’t have to lock you up in here if you kept up with keeping yourself healthy! You’re a doctor for goodness sake, Johnny!”
“I knooooow! I’m a bad doctooor!” he whines, leaning in and resting his head on your shoulder. He then whips his head to the side and coughs into his arm.
You jolt back, not wanting to get hit by any germs.
After his coughing, John winces at you, “Sorry, honey.”
“I’ll make you more tea and your soup is almost ready,” you check the time and sigh, “I have another meeting in half an hour,” you stand from the bed, “So I’ll finish up your soup, make your tea, and-”
John grabs hold of your wrist, “Don’t leave me! Honey, pleeeaase! I’m so bored and lonely!” he looks at you with pouty lips and sad eyes. You can’t resist him and you do feel a little bad.
You relent with a sigh, “Fine. I’ll take my meeting here but I’m sitting in the corner.”
He nods, “Yep. Perfect. Whatever you say, doc!” He then smirks, “If I’m a good patient, will you put on your Halloween nurse outfit for-”
He laughs as you take his pillow and whack him with it.
When you finish and strut out of the room, he hollers, “Your bedside manner is shit, honey!”
