Chapter Text
In life, people will tell you one of two things.
That you’re either born to be a winner…or born to be a loser. Simple as that, no cuts, no buts, and no whining.
Some people, though-or in this case, monsters or ghouls choose not to believe that such assumption. They believe that anyone can be as equal to another.
Monster and ghouls had been fuming for years with humans, or in their slang; normie. Obviously, it was more or less due to hunters seemingly being afraid and wanting them to know who exactly kept them in their place.
But, no one is above another, no matter how poor, rich, or powerful they may be. That is what should be learned by anyone.
Which would be something said by our figure walking down the corridor right now.
To describe him as exhausting and long as possible, he was lean like a ballet dancer, 6’1”, long, curly, jet black hair which tied loosely into a little ponytail behind his head.
The face was beautiful with a diamond jawline, skin the color of desert sand with a little smile washing his face as two set of fangs hung on the top and bottom of his jaw. The man’s eyes also glowed lowly with a red hue.
He was very old looking, seemed to be in his early twenties.
The man’s attire was black with a white shirt just poking out of the loosely hanging top, though it had various straps, cuffs, and small spikes with adorning arm straps that went from his hand to his wrist.
The shoes; black loafers, which he wore were also the same color except for the fact his pants that had been hiked up to expose the very bright white socks adorning his ankles.
As he got to the end of the corridor, bright flashes from what seemed to be many, many cameras flashed throughout the hall and he heard the crowd abuzz, cheering, and saying his name.
“LENNIE! LENNIE! LENNIE! LENNIE! LENNIE! LENNIE…!”
Hearing his name, he couldn’t help the giddiness built up in him as he jumped up and down a few times to calm himself while also hyping himself. His chosen bandmates had already taken stage as they were waiting for him to join.
The stage director came from the corridor’s entrance to the hall. Then, he held three fingers up as Lennie looked at him with a smirk.
“You’re on in 3…!”
His smile grew even larger.
“2…!”
Lennie’s feet almost couldn’t stop moving as he took a small running position.
“1…!”
Then, he jogged out of that tunnel…
“AAAH!”
It was a warm, almost hazy night.
The rattle of an old carriage carries through an old open muddy road. Its horses wailed loudly as the dirt below them was kicked up from their heavy hooves. Their breath couldn’t be seen from the cold as they rushed to an unknown location.
?:"YAH!" A man atop the carriage used his reigns to make the horses speed up. And as they went faster, a woman could be heard squealing from within its carriage loudly.
The man atop of the carriage looked around the forest before he got into view of a very large, decrepit house as he chuckled softly to himself as it came into his sights from behind some trees.

Finally, being able to slow down, his carriage came to a creaky halt as the woman inside could still be heard squealing and screaming in slight pain. He got off the roof and opened the door to finally see the woman.
?:"Come on Scarlett!” He yelled frantically. “We're nearly there honey! Just a couple steps!" She looked up at her husband as he grabbed her hands and began helping her to their home.
Scarlett:"Please Nathaniel. H-Hurry me to our bedroom! I can feel his head poking!" Scarlett; who was now standing on the ground, was now revealed that she was heavily pregnant and also about to give birth to their new child.
Scarlett was described as tall, having a rich-chocolate skin tone to her along with long, straight hair. Her eyes were naturally heavy & dark red as it seemed that with each time she would stare at someone, she seemed tired or monotone. It was also seen as intimidating as her appearance would appear for her to be mellowed out or reserved, but that was wrong too.
Now, her husband was the exact opposite.
Nathaniel Nielsen, the husband to Scarlett wasn’t pale, he was much lighter than her, but not enough to say he was fair-skinned. His face was also adorned with circular glasses on his eyes. Also adorning his face was a small goatee on his chin with his greasy hair slicked back.
They fell in love a long, long time ago and have since then, trying for child. They finally got lucky with her pregnancy and before long, they waited, and waited, and waited…
She groaned with pain as her hand squeezed his, but it brought no pain to him as they got inside their home and he lifted her up in a princess carry so she put no pressure on her legs.
Her breath was erratic and labored as they made their way up. Getting into the room, he set her down gingerly as she positioned herself comfortably in the bed while holding her stomach.
Nathaniel:"Now hold on darling, lemme get the pillows." he quickly left the room as she squeezed the blankets atop of their shared bed.
A loud screech suddenly came from her as her eyes turned a very bright red and suddenly bats from around the area began to surround the entire house, almost engulfing it nearly entirely.
From the outside, the small creatures circled the home while screeching loudly into the air as she did the same from within.
They seemed to be sharing her pain as she squeezed the blankets in her grip and they easily tore. But, as quickly as the screams were and screeches began the bats outside….they had all died down along with her screams.
From the stairs, Nathaniel was continuing to rush up the stairs with everything needed for heat when he could hear a sound he knew all too well…the sounds of a baby crying came from within their room.
He opened the door into the room as he saw his wife lying with the baby on her chest as maroon tears shot from her eyes.
Nathaniel:"My beautiful boy..." He could be seen shedding the smallest of the same-colored tears as he put his finger up to the small child while opening his shirt.
The baby didn't fuss about anything anymore as he put the semi-slimy baby right on into his bare-chest. Scarlett just watched with a small smile as he came towards her with the baby lying on his bare chest.
Nathaniel:"Do you want me to hold him again while I cut the cord?" He questioned her as he could see she was deathly tire, but she gave a small nod.
Scarlett:"That would be nice dear." She held her arms up to be ready to receive the child once more.
He slowly gave her their child back before walking off to his closet to find something to do the deed. She looked down at the boy as the small boy let out a small yawn before slightly opening his eyes.
Although the baby’s eyes were heavily dim, she could make out a very dark red in her son’s eyes. His skin also matched his father's as the baby had some tuffs of dark black hair on his head. Scarlett chuckled as Nathaniel came back in the room.
Scarlett:"We talked about having a child for so long and now...it has been blessed upon us." He sighed loudly while watching his wife hold his son.
Nathaniel:"Yes. It has."
He made sure that the process was painless for her and soon, they both laid there with their new-born son. The baby cooed in her chest as the two chuckled at him before she began to feed him with her breast.
Scarlett:"Gonna be full as a tick after tonight." she smiled as he chuckled at her and kept looked at their child.
Nathaniel:"Hunny, we still going with the name?" he saw raise her eyebrow.
Scarlett:"Ya mean Lennie? The name after your grandfather? Didn't he hate me the first time we met?" A chuckle came from him as she looked back down at her child.
Nathaniel:"Yes, but it was his dying wish to me." He looked over at him and gave her a sideways glance and she smiled innocently.
Scarlett:"Alright then. Lennie as the first name." Nathaniel smiled before Scarlett poked her fingernail into his chest while holding their new-born gingerly. "But, if the boy gets his first name from your side of the family, then his middle'll be from my side."
Nathaniel:"Okay. What will it be then?" she thought about it for just a moment while he was watching their child before Scarlett smiled as the baby stopped eating.
Scarlett:"How about Bloodsworth?" Her husband hummed softly to himself before kissing her cheek.
Nathaniel:"Lennie 'Bloodsworth' Nielsen? Not a bad bunch of names, junebug." He kissed her head as a small cute chortle echoed from her.
Scarlett:"Well, let's rest. We'll have to get a monster certificate for him in the morning." he hummed as she leaned her head onto his chest as the couple had now became a new family.
Scarlett:"Lennie?" she looked around in trees and on their porch as mother walked around their home property as she was now looking for their 4-year old son.
Nathaniel sat on the porch as he watched his wife looking for Lennie.
Scarlett:"Lennie?!" she suddenly heard Nathaniel chuckle and looked at him with a cocked eyebrow. "Where is he at Nathaniel?"
Due to them having just returned from a night out, he had on a tuxedo with some extensions on the back of him, which in this case was a cape like most vampires had. He exposed his left armpit which held their son as he was upside down, his arms crossed in an 'x' shape, and sound asleep.
Scarlett:"Aww!" reaching her hands towards him, she softly scooped him up and carried him inside.
Nathaniel stayed outside for a while as he looked at the moon for a while before smelling something in the air. As he kept sniffing around, he saw in the distance that something was aflame.
He kept sniffing before seeing a sight which made his cold body turn slightly warm.
The common vampire "symbol" of the vampire heart was across the ground and burning with rage.
He gasped as he saw a rusty truck speeding off while also seeing a sign in front of the flaming sigil.
"Leave now, you blood-sucking fanged freaks!"
Next to the words, they seemingly had the couple hanging from a tree, which meant that they hadn't known they were with child. He quickly reverted into his bat form and flew back to his home as quick as his little body could carry him.
Lennie:"Why're we leavin’ so soon ma?" the little boy looked at his parents as they were in the middle of packing their bags. The little boy was scratching his eyes, having been woken up not too long ago.
Scarlett stopped packing up their things. She soon put her hand on his shoulder.
Scarlett:"Baby. Y'know how I told ya that...there are some people in the world who don't like us for who and what we are?" she saw her son just stare innocently at her face as his eyes shined, but he nodded at her question.
Lennie:"But-but, we're nice people ma! Aren't we?" both of the parents stopped to look at their child as slowly, but surely, maroon tears made there way out of his eyes.
Scarlett just hugged her son tightly as the rest of the day was followed by an emotional silence from her conversation with Lennie.
And as quickly as they packed, they left.
Lennie just watched from the carriage as they pulled from their old home. A home that held little memories of him, his ma, his pa, and of the adventures he did with himself.
Soon, they had now travelled for days.
Lennie was asleep before he finally woke up from his nap. He looked out the window and realized they were in a completely different vehicle & city.
What he did realize was that he was looking a Boo York City as the lights shined brightly throughout the concrete jungle.
Lennie let out a small yawn which caught the attention of his mother and she turned to him.
Scarlett:"Sleep well?" Lennie rubbed his eyes and looked at her.
Lennie:"Where are we?" The bright lights caught his eyes as Nathaniel looked at him.

“Well son, we're in Boo York City. We're passing through to get to a new house we found listed upstate in New Salem."
It seems that the child didn't hear him as he watched the lights go by in their small truck as they kept moving through. Scarlett would take photos of the boy as he stared out the window while Nathaniel would make sure he was going the right way.
After a few hours of going to different places, they finally found their new home.
Lennie:"How were you able to find this place papa?" he titled his head at his father while staring ahead at what was supposed to be their new home.
It was old, in disarray, and seemed to be falling apart. Much of the property had been destroyed from the stormy weather that passes through the area. Although the place was cheap, the father chuckled and rubbed his son’s hair. Which was getting very long.
Nathaniel:"Being a realtor does a lot. The only issues that the previous owners said were that it has a considerable amount of stray-cats hiding in the walls and some damage to the interior." as they all entered, true to his words; a large amount of cats were seen roaming around the place and some were just staring at the family of three.
The mother chuckled while rolling up her sleeves.
Scarlett:"Well babies. Looks like this place is a grand'ol fixer-upper! Let's get to work!"
And for years, the family had fixed up the home. It took a long time before it was finally a fully functioning house for them and a home.
Although Lennie was young enough to not cry about the old memories of his old home, he still never forgot about them. Over the years, his routine was simple. Go to school, learn something new, and come home to his mom & dad.
But, something he found interesting was playing instruments and singing along to music with his mother. Lennie even joined his school's band and orchestra. He was mainly on guitar due to his finger control.
He became heavily invested into old, new, or the present music. Lennie was actually so interested, that when he turned 650 years old. His father had surprised him with a guitar for him that was brought from their hometown of New Goreleans.
It was a 1932 Dobro Cyclops resonator guitar.
They were extremely, extremely rare, and luckily for him, his father had been able to wrangle one from a shop-owner who unfortunately had to shut down his business due to a Hurricane hitting the area.
After that, he brought it with him wherever he could. That guitar was his most prized possession. Though there was a slight issue.
Be that it was his prized possession, what didn't make it good that there was an iron plate and strings in it which could have caused harm to himself or others. He was very careful with his fingers when it came to playing the piece of string.
One day, his father and mother came into his room as he was strumming the strings on his guitar to check them for any signs of wearing. Hearing, he looked over at them as his face was now seen.
Puberty had been strong on the young teenage vampire boy.
He now had his father's facial features, along with his mother's long, grown, jet-black hair, her featured red beady eyes, a slightly darker skin tone than his father, and was now standing at a miraculous 6'1". To go along with his appearance, he got some red shades and wore them religiously on his eyes to accompany him when he was outside.
Lennie also wore a simple black shirt and same-colored pants along with some black earrings. His main shoes he wore were black loafers.
Lennie:"What’s wrong, you two?" he was fully turned towards them as the many of their black cats lay across his lap and purred lowly. Scarlett threw an envelope at him with a weird insignia on it.
It was a skull insignia, but the colors on it were pink, blue and black. He raised his eyebrow at the name
Lennie:'Monster High?' Using his sharp nail, he tore it open and took out what was letter. He began to read it. "Greetings to the monsters and ghouls living at XXXX Scream-way. We are grateful and delighted to have the opportunity for your child(children) to attend Monster High! Free for all forms of ghouls & monsters in the area. The school is the first step to monster diversity, equality, and inclusion!—Headless Mistresses Blood-Good?" He glanced at his parents as they held smiles.
They sat on his bed and looked at him.
Nathaniel:"We think it would be a good opportunity for you to be out of the house and try to make some friends or others." He heard his wife clear her throat.
Scarlett:"Ooh! I'm so excited, my baby boy going to a school with other ghouls and monsters." she grinned excitedly to her son as he pet their house cat.
Lennie:"Monster High? Don't really seem like a bad place to go. Least it won't be like my middle school." he grimaced at a sour memory that happened at his school before his father cleared his throat.
Nathaniel:"You're not over there anymore Lee. Just give us the word and we can sign you up. Or we can do online schooling like your other years?" The boy didn't speak for a little bit while letting their cat free before looking at his father with a big fanged smile.
Lennie:"When does the semester start?"
Lennie:"Y'all really sure about this school?" he raised an eyebrow at his parents as they were now parked outside of the gate.

The school was enormous with vast land and stone walkways that seemed to stretch to the back of the forest. He also laid his eyes on a pool, casketball court, and he saw something in the back which he would question later.
He also took a small glances and saw that many types of ghouls and monsters seemed to be carrying some their own personal items inside due to the dormitory system that the school had.
Lennie was quite nervous as he rubbed his hands against his thighs, but his mother saw this and smiled at her son while throwing a hand on his shoulder.
Scarlett:"You'll do fine son. Don'tcha let your nerves get in a jumble now, ya hear?" she kissed his forehead as he silently groaned, but appreciated the gesture from her.
He stepped out the vehicle with an umbrella above him as he waved his parents goodbye. As he walked towards the gate, a woman caught his eyes.
Lennie:"You must be the so-called Mistress Bloodgood. But, I thought ya were headless?" he slightly chuckled at the woman as she did the same back to him before actually taking off her head.
BloodGood: "So, are you going to stand there? Or are you going to find out where your classes are?" she beckoned the fanged-boy inside with an arm raised to the door as he walked quietly in the school but went didn't go unnoticed by the Headless Headmistress was the little pep in his step.
This made her smirk as she walked in behind him along with another ghoul.
He couldn't stop smirking either as he walked in and was greeted with some waves or some "Hi"s. This was a new chapter in his life.
And he couldn't wait to see what this school and ghouls and monsters held for him.
