Pre Story:
Mirai gently placed a hand on Izuku's scarred one, his eyes turned purple as he activated his quirk, he had originally planned to see Mirio's future, but he realised that he didn't need his quirk to know that his protege would be amazing, as he looked through Izuku's future, he saw everything, he saw the first war, Izuku going solo, being bought back, he saw the Past Users of One For All, he saw the final war, he saw Izuku give up One For All For the greater good, he could see how much it pained the boy to say goodbye. Everything was going fine until the last third of Izuku's Second Year, although Mirai couldn't tell what, things were happening to Izuku's body.
Mirai was forced to stop looking at Izuku's future as the pain in his eyes told him that his body didn't have the energy to keep his quirk factor on anymore, Mirio and Izuku stood beside him as his breathing ceased.
Present;U.A.'s Third Term:
It started small, Izuku struggling to keep food down and to sleep, he chalked it up to stress about Final Exams.
It only got worse as the weeks progressed, Izuku would black out briefly in class, he could barely even manage to keep plain rice down, he could tell that everyone was getting worried, even Katsuki was showing visible concern.
The moment that really highlighted that something was wrong was in a Quirkless Sparr Izuku had against Shouta, he was struggling to hold his own, whilst that may not seem like much, it wasn't a good sign, Izuku was arguably one of if not the best at Quirkless Sparring in the entire school, including teachers and third years, sometime after the war, Nedzu and the U.A. faculty had set up a schoolwide Sparring contest, participation wasn't necessary but the vast majority still signed up, Izuku had won all of his matches and had remained undefeated, so for him to be struggling this badly wasn't a good sign.
There was a sharp tearing noise, like the splitting of flesh, Izuku doubled over, dry heaving, blood dripped from cracks that had formed on his skin, some went over his left eye, the others intertwined with his already present scars on his arms, the match stopped immediately and Shouta hurried over, his metal foot clunking on the floor.
Shouta saw as Izuku started vomiting blood, the older man lifted Izuku up and began to hurry to the infirmary, the rest of Class 2-A wasn't far behind.
Arriving at the infirmary, Shouta stepped aside to allow Eijiro to open the door, as much as Shouta was tempted to just kick the door open, the knew that now was not the appropriate time to test his balancing skills whilst holding a Problem Child who he had a chilling feeling was dying.
The moment Recovery Girl saw Izuku, her face paled, her and Izuku had been chatting about the Past Users not long before the Final War, her and Izuku had a rather enlightening discussion about Quirk Science and what the effects of a Quirk that has hit Singularity being taken could be.
Using her cane, RG pointed to a hospital bed with a small engraved plaque on the end that read 'Reserved For Izuku Midoriya and his inevitably shattered arms.'.
Shouta set Izuku down, RG was quick to approach, she signalled for Shouta to get Class 2-A out the room and to call Nezu, after all, she couldn't have distractions right now.
4 minutes later, the scurrying of squeaky shoes could be heard, a small figure opened the door before scurrying over, the Chimera, hopped up onto the stool that RG had placed beside Izuku's hospital bed, despite not having a great understanding of human emotions, Nezu could tell that Izuku was in extreme pain, but, he could also tell the boy was close to dying, Nezu and RG shared a nod, RG walked over to the door, she beckoned Class 2-A and Shouta in quietly.
Izuku looked so small in the infirmary bed, usually, he lit up a room with his bright smiles and go getter attitude, but now, his face was screwed up in pain and he was sweaty and trembling, Nezu gently pushed Shouta onto the chair next to Izuku's bed.
Not knowing what else to do, Shouta gently stroked Izuku's hair, trying to offer some semblance of comfort, every member of Class 2-A was sobbing quietly in the background.
Roughly 2 minutes later, in walked Class 2-B and the majority of the U.A. faculty, they all stood with 2-A, they all hated the feeling of powerlessness in this moment, they'd fought the worst villains in the past 100 years for Godsake and yet, they couldn't save their friend who was right in front of them.
Nezu turned to face the distraught crowd "It's his quirk...." he explains as gently as he can "I believe it had hit singularity meaning it was essentially a deeper, more integrated part of Izuku, when he gave up One For All, it tore a part of his out, think of when you have a loose thread of a woollen jumper, over time the entire thing unravels until you're left with a pile of yarn, Izuku is the jumper, One For All was the loose thread.".
No one says anything to that, a soft, pained groan comes from Izuku as he manages to turn himself just enough to look at his classmates one last time, his head flops back as he doesn't have the strength to hold it up.
Izuku gazes at Shouta, Shouta who's still gently running his fingers through his hair and is scratching his scalp lightly like one might a stray cat.
A sharp stab of pain as more skin around his left eye splits, Izuku let's out a small whimper before stilling.
"...........Time of Death; 11:32......."
The Past Users of One For All were sitting around, it was strange, ever since their Izuku had given up One For All, they hadn't gone back to the Vestige Void so that couldn't see him anymore, but they weren't with other dead people.
A soft thud echoed from a corner, none of them except Hikage noticed, the others were all looking at Daigoro with varying levels of annoyance.
Hikage would recognise that curly mop of mossy green and black hair anywhere, ".....Izuku....?"
The others went so quiet you could hear a pin drop, a small whimper came from the corner, Izuku was curled up into a small ball.
The Past Users all froze, they weren't sure what to do, they were all also fearing why and how Izuku had managed to get to this area.
Kudou was the first one to snap out of his stupor, he quietly approached the kid and scooped him up, bringing him back over to the other users, they all sucked in a harsh breath when they saw the cracks running across Izuku's face and arms, Hikage in particular looked most affected.
Izuku curls into Kudou's chest, despite the strict, gruff persona he puts on, Kudou doesn't push Izuku away, instead, he sits down back with the other users, keeping Izuku on his lap and murmuring gentle reassurances much like a father would his child.
Hikage sat beside Kudou, he didn't say anything but all the other Past Users could see the pain on his face, the pain that their little Izuku had to go through the same pain that he did.
A Week Later;At U.A.:
Everyone was gathered in Gym Gamma, they all wore dark clothes and had tears running down their faces, even the faculty were crying, Mirio, Tamaki and Nejire were all stood with the faculty.
U.A. didn't feel the same anymore, not without the Sunshine Boy who no matter how sad you were feeling, could always find a way to cheer you up, hell, even Shouta was crying, it had hit him hardest, Shouta had never forget Izuku's words when he protected him from Tomura Shigaraki, it didn't help that Shouta had been the last one his Problem Child had looked at.
In the end, even Sako and Shuichi were quiet, they'd come to understand that Izuku felt constant guilt over Tomura's death, it had been them who had told Izuku that Tomura wouldn't want him moping constantly.
Everyone who knew Izuku was mourning, even the people who had only briefly met him mourned him.
