Work Text:

If you knew Robby well enough, you would know he treats his elderly with respect.

Although he considers himself one, he still finds it adorable seeing an elderly couple. Especially the one living next door, well used to.

A couple weeks ago they'd moved out, they were very close to Robby.

Since the husband used to be a doctor Robby would go over whenever he could and sit down for a cup of tea, chatting about the hospital and staff.

He'd enjoyed their company, but they had to leave, they were getting older and needed a caretaker.

As much as Robby wanted to feel disappointed, he understood. He was getting older by the second and definitely in a few years would be moving out to a nursing home.

He also felt disappointment when he found out the house was bought by a man, Robby didn't want anyone to buy it.

As selfish as he was being it was the true, someone else buying it meant they'd remodel all the memories he had with that house.

Especially since that house was more 90s era than modern era, people would obviously try to paint it more "beige" to fit in.

It was only a matter of time before he'd find out who were the owners of owner of the house.

Robby sighed for what felt like the thousandth time, Dana was trying to chart and couldn't focus without hearing Robby breathing down her neck.

"Okay enough, what's going on because if you continue sighing I will report this to Gloria"

Robby rubbed his hand down his beard before speaking.

"Remember the elderly couple that lived next to me?"

"The one that always comes and drops off your lunch because you can't afford to wake up 20 minutes earlier to pack it yourself, yeah"

Robby gave her a menacing stare before continuing.

"Well they moved out, they can't take care of themselves and all that stuff"

"Okay, so what's the issue because I don't see it"

Dana asked eyeing him carefully, attention all on him now.

"Someone else moved in, I don't know who but I feel disappointed, I mean they're going to remodel it and it's not going to be the same anymore"

"And that's what you're worried about? Robby goddamit it's just a house, that couple probably won't forget about you so I don't see why your making it a bigger issue than it has to be"

Dana sighed, her attention going back to the computer to finish charting.

"Just focus on saving people and not letting anyone die, you can go cry to Jack or whoever you want after this shift"

"Nobody's going to cry Dana!"

Robby exclaimed in frustration before stomping off, yes he did cry when he found out but that's a secret that's locked up.

It was Sunday, meaning he had the day off. Finally, after a long dreading 6 days he finally had the day off.

Considering last weak he didn't get any breaks, so today and tomorrow was his time not the hospitals.

He took his sweet time shuffling to the kitchen, warming up his kettle he looked outside the window.

Lunar, his cat walked in meowing, demanding her dinner.

He quickly scooped up a scoop of dry food, mixing it with wet food before going to sit near the window.

What a lovely day.

The sun was shining, the wind was mild, and there was a moving truck.

Wait a minute, a moving truck?!

He quickly stood up, watching as the truck parked near his driveway.

Oh right, the new neighbor was moving in.

Robby thought about greeting them, but he didn't want to step into someone's personal space right after they'd move in.

So, he'll keep a distance till they warmed up to neighborhood.

He watched as men surrounded the house, making their way inside the house with boxes, and leaving the house without boxes.

It didn't seem like much, for someone moving in it seemed like they only owned a small amount of items.

He'd at least only counted 7 boxes, and they weren't that large.

He carefully eyed a car, as it stopped by a curb before a young man stepped out with a large bag carefully hung over his shoulder.

He looked like a frightened mouse, sunken eyes, a mullet with blonde golden curls.

And an outfit you'd only see people wearing in the streets, he had holes in his shoes, a few stains on his shirt, and his pants looked worn out.

Robby knew he shouldn't be judging, he didn't know his situation. But he couldn't help it, the man had enough money to buy a house but not enough to get an extra spare of clothes?

Robby was going to continue to spew nonsense until he saw the young man's stomach.

Round, large, and low.

It seemed like his new neighbor was pregnant, he looked around his third trimester.

Oh great, he thought.

Not only did he judge a man who looked homeless, but a pregnant one!

He needed to apologize, even though he didn't say it out loud it felt wrong not to.

Maybe tomorrow he'd cook a pie and give him it, or maybe a welcome lasagna.

He'd have to think about it, but in the meantime, he was going to continue watching.

He watched as the man went inside, coming back outside without nothing and a hand full of money.

The man carefully counted the amount before handing the money to the worker, thanking him before he went back inside as the workers left.

Just as Robby was about to form another thought, Lunar meowed.

The kettle was whistling loudly, signaling it was heated well enough and ready.

He carefully poured himself tea, thinking about what can he do to welcome his neighbor.

"Son of a bitch.." is all he says, sipping his tea as he makes his mind overwork to find a plan.

Whatever, he'll figure it out, right now he needs to figure what he'll have for dinner since he barely has anything in the fridge.

Maybe he'll invite Jack over, he always makes the best food.

Finding a house was much harder when you were on a budget, if you were in Dennis position you'd understand.

The amount of money he had was only enough to cover the payment of the house, rent, and to pay the moving truck.

As much as Trinity insisted in driving him and his belongings to his new house, he decline her offer. She was already doing too much by helping him pay half of what he owed, and she ha'd given him a place to stay.

The least he could do was pay for his own ride.

----------------------

By the time Dennis arrived to his new house he was exhausted, his legs were all swollen and wanted to pop out of his pants and shoes, his baby was giving him a hard time, kicking around, and all he wanted to do was sleep.

He slung his bag over his shoulder, before carefully exiting the car. Giving the driver a tip before shutting the door and watching the car speed away, Dennis watched as the moving truck made beeping noises while trying to park.

He took in his surroundings, new neighbor's, new faces, new streets, a new life.

It was all a new environment for him, he didn't know what to expect. He didn't know anyone here, he'd also have to either find a way to get to his job or get a new job to maintain rent.

Everything was just nerve wracking, he watched as the men went inside to place the boxes down. He stepped inside to put down his bag, grabbing his wallet out to pay them.

Stepping out he carefully counted to make sure he had the right amount, after confirming he gave the men the money and said thank you before stepping back inside.

Shutting the door behind him he looked around, he heard the house was originally owned by an elderly couple.

It was very.. vintage.

The walls were a wallpaper of a green background with a few details, the floor was carpet, and the house was more on he smaller side.

It only had a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom.

The living room was connected to the kitchen, there wasn't much space so he'd have to find a way to work this all out.

But at least he now had a house for himself and his baby, and although for the first couple of nights he's going to have to sleep in a sleeping bag, at least he has his privacy. Unlike the homeless shelters.

He sat down next to the boxes, opening one of them to start unpacking his sleeping bag.

As he was unpacking he felt his phone vibrating, watching the screen light up with Trinity's name.

"What do you want Trin"

"Wow, rude much? I just wanted to see how you're doing"

Dennis tilted his head to keep the phone in place on his ear as he continued to unpack.

"It's going great, nothing has happened and I'm grateful for that, and you?"

He heard Trinity give a long exaggerating sigh before continuing.

"I'm actually glad you left Huckleberry, now I have more space for me and Yolanda"

"Haha very funny, anyways I wanted to thank you Trinity. You've helped me so much, I'm glad I finally have my own home"

"Don't thank me yet, my niece or nephew hasn't been born yet"

Dennis snorted out loud before continuing.

"Well I'll talk to you later, I have quite the unpacking to do"

"Alright, take care Huckleberry"

Dennis hung up, placing his phone facing up as he watched his screen lock turn dark.

It was a photo of him and Trinity, posing with Dennis ultrasound.

It was a sweet memory, he'd remember when he first moved in he told Trinity he hadn't had any appointments because of the expenses.

Trinity practically carried him and took him to the nearest clinic, for the first time he heard his baby.

At that time it was too early to know the gender, and Dennis didn't want to know either way.

But from that moment on, Trinity showed up to every appointment.

Although she worked as a doctor and barely had days off, she made sure the moment she needed him, she was there.

Even if she didn't want to admit it, but she did love him, she saw him as a younger brother who couldn't fend for himself.

Especially the state she found Dennis in when they first met, it was one of the worst eras of Dennis.

Trinity had just finished her shift, she dragged her feet across the pavement as she walked towards her apartment.

Her shift had ended horribly and started horribly, the moment she entered—Robby her boss ushered her to scrub into the OR.

She didn't even have time to breathe and she was already rushing to put her backpack away, the whole shift was a disaster, a car crash that ended up as a pileup happened, someone from the psych ward was running around.

And at the end of her shift, she had to fight an abusive partner who was trying to get his ex back, that resulted in her leaving later than usual, with bruises too.

Fucking hell, she should just sue the damn hospital, but she's sweeter than that.

She continued walking, till she saw a homeless man.

Well not homeless, well—he looked like it, he was wearing dirty clothes with holes and he had this wet look.

He looked as if he had seen the same shit she had, but ten times worse.

She made eye contact with him, her eyes landing on his small backpack, and his hand resting on a small but noticable bump.

Trinity froze but speaking. "Hey, uhm are you okay? You look lost"

The man fidgeted around, eyes darting around everywhere as if someone was going to come out of nowhere.

"I—do you know any shelters that take in adults?"

Trinity froze, her expressions was deadpanned, she expected him to say if he could have money, not asking where available shelters were.

"I—uhm, sorry I don't know, do you need a place to stay?"

"Sort of, just a temporary room until I can—well until I can afford my own place"

Trinity took a moment to think, normally she wouldn't let any strangers in. That was her number one rule, no one besides Yolanda were allowed in her apartment.

But this man looked vulnerable, and she was afraid if she left him, he'd get hurt.

She took a big fat sigh before responding "Listen, I can let you stay in my apartment for a while but I'm not able to let you live in there"

Trinity saw as his eyes widened, a spark settling in as he smiled.

"Of course! Don't worry I'll be out of there before you know it"

Trinity gave a smile back before she started walking, the man started catching up with her.

--------------

By the time they arrived to her apartment the man was out of breathe, she assumed it was because of his pregnancy.

Well maybe, he hadn't said anything if he was pregnant or not, maybe he was just out of shape.

She put her bag down on the couch before waving at him to follow her, she led him to a room that was mostly empty, if you counted the random boxes on the desk.

"I just need to move the boxes but I'll do that another day, the rest of the room is yours. Just don't touch anything if you find anything inside the desk"

"Yeah, of course—thank you"

Trinity watched as he carefully put his bag on the floor before moving to sit on the bed, making sure there's no creases on the blanket.

"Are you pregnant?"

The man looked dumbfounded as he stared at Trinity, who was dying eternally inside. She hadn't meant to say that out loud, but her thoughts overtook her.

"Uh yeah I am, it's pretty weird I know. There's not much history to male pregnancies, but I fall into the category."

Oh. Well at least she has confirmation, she wonders if he's already had a checkup.

"That explains a lot, have you had a checkup? Maybe I could help around with the baby expenses, I'm not cruel either way"

Dennis seemed to freeze at the comment, as if he was hiding something.

"Well, not exactly. I don't have any money tho afford an appointment, one appointment is almost a hundred dollars"

Trinity felt as if the day couldn't get worse, she was getting more exhausted the more the boy spoke.

"Okay first we're going to get you an appointment no matter the cost, second what the hell is your name? You've been in my house for like what? Twenty minutes and I haven't even gotten your name"

The man chuckled a little.

"I'm Dennis, Dennis Whitaker"

"Alright, my name is Trinity santos"

Trinity shuffled around, taking her phone out to make an appointment by at least tomorrow.

"So uhm—what do you do for work?"

Trinity raised an eyebrow, not looking up from her phone as she aggressively typed at something. Stupid insurance.

"I work at a hospital, named PTMC. I don't do much, just running around saving lives and spending hours on charting. You?"

"I don't really have a job, after my ex left me everything went downhill. I couldn't afford rent even after working triple shifts, then I found out I was pregnant and well my job didn't want me working."

Dennis took a sigh before continuing.

"I ended up getting fired and well, I was staying at a few shelters. But they couldn't let me stay there forever, especially because I was pregnant and couldn't afford any medical help"

Trinity huffed, she usually never gave pity to anyone outside of the hospital. But this man, Dennis—he's gone through everything.

Dennis huffed a little, letting a small chuckle out.

"I was wanted to be a doctor, I grew up in a religious household and was told being a doctor wasn't in God's plan, I couldn't handle being there, I wanted more freedom. So I left, on a random Wednesday, just packed my things and left through the front door. I was supposed to study, I even started signing myself to college. But I met him, and well he said he wanted a 'Housewife' whatever that meant, I had to drop out of college"

Dennis cringed at the memories, as if they still haunt him to this day.

"Worst decision ever, I only stayed because I was desperate for money, I was drowning in debt and he helped clear it all. For the price of sex"

Trinity sat beside him on the bed, looking around before placing a hand on his shoulder.

"I—I'm sorry, even if I wasn't there. You didn't deserve that, but hey! We can become friends, I'll help you through what you need"

Dennis smiled before give her a side hug.

"Thank you, I never had someone give me so much help"

"Alright alright, now get off me. Go to sleep, tomorrow you have an appointment and tomorrow I have an afternoon shift"

Dennis nodded eagerly before shouting good night, watching as she left the room.

Maybe things wouldn't be so bad.

The sun hit Dennis face harshly, he let out a deep groan as he sat up carefully.

He hadn't gotten much sleep from the constant ache in his back, the trips to the bathroom, and his baby wanting to play around and use his organs as a ball.

He stood up holding onto the wall to balance himself, being pregnant meant losing your balance all the time.

He shuffled to the kitchen, sitting down at a table and staring at the fridge. He had basically nothing, he barely moved in like yesterday and he didn't want to waste money on ordering food.

He also hated the idea of calling Trinity, he didn't want to be seen as if he couldn't handle himself.

He sighed, looking out at his window, watching as his neighbor watered his plants, what a handsome man.

Dennis hated to admit but he had a kink for older men, and his neighbor was already becoming a target. He had just met him but he's definitely handsome, he probably has a wife so he shouldn't get ahead of himself.

Dennis stood back up, grabbing his wallet and keys before going out, he was not about to starve his baby. He was going to have to buy food, whether it be a donut.

He walked past his neighbor, smiling as he passed by.

Gosh he really craved homemade food, but in his current situation, that was a dream.

He didn't know his way around, so he kept walking straight until he found himself crossing roads. Praying he'd remember his way back, with his pregnancy brain he basically forgets anything and everything.

He makes his way carefully to a convenience store, scanning the prices of the stale burgers.

One burger would cost him almost three dollars, that seemed too much for a small burger, but it'll fill him up.

He buys the burger, on his way out he unwraps it to eat it.

"Mmmm" he makes a soft moan, most people would disagree that food from those stores were disgusting, but to him, it was heavenly.

Luckily for him, he remembered his way back, and as he passed his neighbors house, he smelled the aroma of a delicious dessert.

His stomach grumbled despite eating the burger, it was embarrassing! How much more of an appetite can his baby have?

He speed walked back to his house, not wanting to get attached to the smell and then practically beg his neighbor for a slice. Nope not today.

He went back into his house, sitting on the floor, as he took out his phone, scrolling through his contacts.

Practically begging himself not to call Trinity, he really hated being alone, he needed company and food.

But today was her day off, it shouldn't be a hassle right?

He pressed the call button and carefully waiting as he continued to munch on his burger.

"What could you possibly want Huckleberry"

"Hey Trin, are you busy?"

The line was quiet, as if she was thinking, he heard a few whispers before she started.

"I'm with Yolanda, we're about to go to a restaurant, why?"

Oof, that was a stab to his heart.

He really wanted company, but he couldn't ruin Trinity and Yolanda's date, they've been planning it for weeks now.

"Oh nothing, I was just wondering. Hey—uhm I'll call you later alright? Have a good date bye"

Before Trinity could form a sentence he hung up, gosh stupid Dennis.

"Gosh what now" Dennis laid flat on the ground, biting his nails to keep himself from eating anything near him.

"Fuck it" he stood up and shuffled into his slippers, he wasn't about to sit around pretending he wasn't hungry.

He could get embarrassed later, and who would say no to a pregnant person? He is innocent.

He quickly left his house, practically running to his neighbor but landing on his property.

'Okay Dennis you can do this, just a quick knock, can I have a plate of dessert, and run back. Nothing too serious'

He carefully made his way up the stairs, standing on his porch he stared at the door.

'Maybe this is a bad idea'

As much as he wanted to leave he couldn't, his body was set on getting that damn dessert. And before he knew it, he was knocking, goddamit Dennis.

Dennis watched as a man opened the door, not his neighbor, another man.

"May I help you?" The man asked, staring at Dennis, I mean who wouldn't? Dennis had on a SpongeBob shirt, pajama pants, and slippers with no socks.

His hair also, was sticking everywhere because he hadn't brushed it all day.

His breathe probably stinked too but that was the least of his concerns.

"I'm sorry to bother, I smelled a delicious dessert and I was wondering if I can have a plate, it's not for me it's for my baby"

Dennis made sure to put a hand on his bump, to at least show the man he was pregnant.

Before the man could respond, he was interrupted by yelling.

"Jack! What's taking so long"

Ah his name must be Jack.

"Hey Robby, is it okay if I let in this pregnant young man, he seems to be asking for dessert"

Robby, to who he supposed is his neighbor came into the frame, staring at Dennis who awkwardly smiled back.

Robby gave an awkward look to Dennis, staring him up and down as if he was judging before nodding.

"Oh uh—sure, just be careful of Lunar. She's very aggressive to new people"

Jack and Robby stepped aside so Dennis could come in, as soon as Dennis stepped in he was whacked by the delicious smell, stronger this time.

His stomach have a loud growl, Jack and Robby stared at him before Dennis chuckled awkwardly.

Robby stepped aside, moving back to the kitchen before talking.

"Well uh, let me get you a plate. Do you have any allergies or anything related to that?"

"I have gestational diabetes"

Robby and Jack immediately stared at each other, furrowed eyebrows as if they were talking telepathically.

Jack sighed, rubbing a hand through his beard before responding.

"Kid, are you supposed to be eating sweets, it's not good for you or your baby"

"Well no, but my doctor said I can eat it in moderation!"

Robby gave a deep sigh, before grabbing a paper plate and slicing a slice of cheesecake.

Might as well be his apology gift.

While Robby packed a few toppings for him, Dennis eyes wandered off to the living room. Taking in the sight of a brown British shorthair cat, who was scratching the couch.

'Adorable' he thought.

Lunar, made eye contact with Dennis. She left the couch and started trotting towards Dennis, Dennis the lovely guy who adored animals bent down as much as he could wanting to pet the cat.

"No!" Dennis was interrupted, hand mid air as Lunar froze too. Before Dennis could react, Lunar bit his hand. Making Dennis fall backwards on his ass.

Jack and Robby immediately came to him, both of them yelling out apologies that were bouncing off the room.

"My god, I am deeply sorry. She isn't used to new people in the house"

Robby and Jack both helped Dennis up, Dennis shook it off by laughing and waving his hand.

"It's okay, no harm was done"

Both of the man's sighed, as Robby quickly grabbed the plate before shoving it into Dennis hands.

He quickly scooped Lunar up, who protested by trying to bite him, but Robby was quick to cover her mouth.

"Might wanna run as soon as you can, Lunar can get more aggressive when you have food"

"Okay, thank you for the dessert, I owe you" Dennis chuckled, making his way to the door before leaving.

"Wow Robby, have you already fallen head over heels?"

Jack teased Robby, who was redder than a tomate, him and Dennis had touched hands for a split second. But gosh, that was the best feeling ever.

"I'm never washing my hands again"

Robby said, Jack gave him a disgusting look before leaving to go take a bite of the cheesecake.

As Dennis walked back to his house, happily eating his cheesecake.

He also realized something, he was smiling a lot. Not because of the dessert or kindness, but because of Robby.

'This is going to be a disaster'

They both thought.

After almost living in his home for almost 2 weeks he figured a few things out, like Jack and Robby worked together at a hospital named PTMC. He was surprised hearing that, since Trinity worked there too.

He's gotten well along with Robby, he'd go over to his house to have dinner with him and then leave.

Sometimes even staying the night if he felt unwell after eating dessert.

Dennis was taking a liking to him, and it seemed like Robby was too. But, none of them wanted to say their feelings out loud.

————————————

Dennis was quietly washing the dishes with Robby, they had just finished eating Robby's delicious butter caramel cookies.

Lunar was sitting on the counter, watching them while keeping a distance, since Robby kept flicking water at her.

Once they finished Robby and Dennis made their way to the couch, Robby groaning as he sat down, and Dennis trying to sit down without his bump blocking the view.

"Dennis, I've been wondering. Do you have the nursery set up? I know you just moved in so you might have some things to build and unpack, I’m sure I can help”

”Well, actually, I don’t. I’ve been too busy trying to save up money for rent, gas, water and all of these things that I haven’t even bought a single piece of furniture for the baby”

Robby stared at Dennis for a long time, Dennis looked completely unfazed. As if the situation he was in wasn’t ridiculous?

”So, you mean to tell me the baby has no where to sleep?”

”I mean, the baby won’t be able to sleep in its own crib because I’ll have to be monitoring them so what’s the deal?”

Dennis felt the tension and decided now was the time to start looking away, not making eye contact with Robby who looked tense and angry.

”Okay change of plans, we’re going to buy furniture for the baby and maybe more things if you can tell the truth”

”What! Robby, you can’t possibly do that. I won’t be able to repay you and plus, we’ve just met, it’ll be a hustle to have you do all of this for me”

”It’s not only for you, but for the baby. Think about it”

Dennis sighed, he knew Robby was right. Dennis could get secondhand postpartum items, but he knew the extreme of buying his baby anything that was from someone else’s baby.

”Fine, but only if you allow me to at least make you something to repay you”

Robby gave a chuckle before pulling out his hand “You’ve got yourself a deal, let’s hit the road?”

Dennis shook his hand before nodding, standing up with a big of a struggle before walking outside to the car.

—————————————

By the time they got to the store Dennis was already tired, he couldn’t believe that just from sitting down he was already winded.

He was already thinking about how useless he’ll be during and after labor, that was a nightmare.

”Okay we’re here, let’s make a checklist of what we need”

”Uhm, a crib, diapers, wipes, clothes—definitely clothes and—“

Robby stopped listening when he kept talking.

“So basically everything?”

Dennis stopped talking mid letter, feeling embarrassed and red before nodding.

”Alright then let’s see what you like, and also what baby would like”

Dennis gave a huff before getting out the car, the store seemed very large. Gosh, he wasn’t in a mood for walking.

“Robby seriously, there’s no need for you to build it! The baby isn’t due for another 2 months or so”

Dennis was standing in the middle of his house, hand on his hips. Watching Robby build the crib.

”You never know, you could go into early labor or so. It’s always better to be careful”

“I mean you’re right, but I’m sure there’ll be no incident where I’ll go into early labor, I’ve been pretty healthy all throughout my pregnancy!”

Robby gave Dennis a skeptical look, like he knew.

”Okay maybe there was a rough start, but seriously!”

”Yeah talk to me when you go into early labor and you need my help”

Dennis didn’t even try to argue with that, he sat carefully on the floor, watching Robby finish building it.

”So what names are you thinking of for the baby?”

”I don’t know really, I don’t even know the gender but, I will give them a gender neutral name”

Robby gave a nod, more focused on where this part of the crib went.

”Do you have a birth place?”

”A what?”

”A birth plan, what you want to do during birth. Or if something happens, just to be safe”

Dennis licked his lips, taking a while to think before nodding.

”Sort of, I’ll just follow what’s best for me. If they say they have to do this I’ll allow it, I do want a natural birth but if they say I have to go under surgery for my baby to be born healthy then I’ll do that”

”Got it, who are you going to have at your birth?”

”My friend Trinity”

Robby stopped building, his hand frozen as he looked up at Dennis.

“Trinity, Santos?”

“Yeah, I’m sorry for not mentioning it to you earlier, I have short brain memory since this pregnancy started and well I forgot to tell you!”

“You’re fine, we should be more focused on the fact you’re about to pop a baby instead of worrying about Trinity!”

Dennis laughed out loud, smiling at Robby who looked at him as if he was a fallen angel.

”Well, the only thing I’m worried is how Trinity will act when she knows I’m hanging out with her boss!”

They both immediately started laughing out loud, both holding onto their bellies but for different reasons.

One reason they had in common though, they were falling for each other faster.

Dennis was nearing his due date, every morning he’d think he was going into labour but it ended up being Braxton hicks.

Him and Robby definitely got more close, they started sleeping in the same bed.

Dennis would call it, friends with benefits.

He and Robby would occasionally go on dates, they would hold hands and Robby always had his hand in his belly.

Dennis really wanted to tell Robby how he felt, especially because when the baby comes his hands would be full from taking care of them.

So, he would confess today! Whether Robby rejected him or not.

He actually woke up earlier than he usually did and baked muffins, he had to take breaks in between but he definitely got it finished in the end.

He got dressed nicely since his pregnancy started, and made sure he smelled good.

He carefully boxed the muffins before balancing them on his hips, walking out the house to go to Robby’s.

When he made it to his house, he opened the door with the spare key Robby gave him and let himself in.

He carefully placed the box down and looked for Robby, finding him soon in his room sitting up, with his glasses, reading.

If looks could kill, Dennis would be dead by now.

”Oh hey Dennis, what’s wrong?”

”Oh! I brought muffins for you, want to eat them?”

Robby gave a heartwarming smile before placing his book and glasses down.

”Of course, let’s get a taste shall we?”

Dennis nodded, walking with him towards the kitchen.

As Robby ate his muffin, Dennis watched him. Trying to find the right words before starting.

“I wanted to ask—“

Dennis was cutoff by a strong Braxton, making him bend over, holding his stomach to steady himself.

”Hey, are you okay?”

”Oof, yeah I‘ve just been having really bad Braxton hicks”

Dennis sat upright before trying to continue, before he felt a gush of liquid spreading down his pants.

”I am so sorry! I know my bladder isn’t the best but I’ve never peed myself, this is so embarrassing!”

Dennis held onto his belly, looking down horrified before realization came pouring down.

”My water just broke!”

”Your water just broke!”

They both looked at each other, Dennis gave a small laugh before standing up.

”Maybe, we should go to the hospital. And call Trinity.”

”Okay, okay yes! I’ll tell her to grab your hospital bag on the way, but let’s go!”

Dennis walked with Robby towards the call, stopping in his tracks to ease himself from the contractions.

When he sat in the car, water kept pouring.

”I just want to say, I’m sorry for wetting your seats and I like you”

Robby looked at him before focusing on the road.
“I love you too, but let’s focus on the fact you’re about to have a baby!”

”Hah! You’re right, I’m so nervous and excited”

Robby’s hand found Dennis’s hands and held it, giving him comfort.

”It’ll be okay, I’ll be with you through it all”

Dennis gave a smile, closing his eyes and trying to relax.

Notes:

So I wanted this to be a longer fic, but I decided to let this rot until the last minute and I kept rushing! But I can try making another part to this, if I have the energy because gosh I’m trying to finish the rest of my drafts 😼
