Work Text:
Scott was not expecting to find what he found when he was walking through an alleyway, trying to take a short cut through the downtown of the city, on his way to scout out a place of a future break in robbery.
He hears quiet groaning coming from the alleyway.
All alarms in his head told him to walk away, but the villain continued on his path into the alleyway.
His eyes quickly adjust to the darkness of the ally, and that's when he sees it.
A man is laying on his back, breath coming in slowly, causing the man pain, clear by the pained moans coming from his lips with each breath.
Scott pulls a flashlight from a pocket in his jacket, shining it on the man.
He takes half a step back when he realizes who he’s looking at.
The superhero, Ghost.
The hero’s eyes shine with pained tears through his domino mask as his head lolls to the side, looking up at Scott, slight fear registering in his eyes.
Ghost’s left hand clumsily, and shakily, looks at his side for the dagger he usually has, but it’s not there.
The man looks up to the sky, his shoulders hitting the pavement as he starts to cry.
The hero had recognised Scott, and knew he was at his mercy, and he was giving up.
Scott looks at him, trying to assess what was wrong with him.
As the hero takes a long breath, a small clicking noise seems to come from his chest, and the blond’s face screws up again in pain.
Scott looks over his body, seeing the hero’s right leg seems to be bent slightly at a weird angle, and so does his pointer pinger on his right hand.
“What happened to you?” Scott asks him.
The hero bites his lip, biting out though a pain, “Lost a fight.”
Normally Scott would have walked away, possibly laughed at the bothersome hero, but instead he wounds a feeling of pity in his chest, pity for the man suffering.
“Don’t move.” Scott says, putting the flashlight between his teeth before stepping forwards, crouching down and carefully picking the injured hero up in his arms.
He lifts the hero up, with only a small moan coming from the blond from the movement.
Scott readjusts the man in his arms so he can grab the flashlight with his right hand, the one under the hero’s back.
“Wh-what are you…doing.” The hero says between pained gasps.
Scott can feel Ghost’s heart pounding through the contact of their bodies.
“I’m taking you to a hospital so your sorry butt does not die in that alleyway." Scott says, starting to walk.
Luckily for him, there is a clinic with an emergency ward about 5 blocks away.
Scott walks, and neither of them speak, the only sounds are the sounds of the city and the pained groans from Ghost with every breath in.
After what was probably longer than anyone would want when they are in pain, Scott makes it to the clinic, smoothly walking in through the automated doors of the emergency ward with confidence.
The room falls silent as he walks in, people moving out of the way as he walks up to the front counter, “I would like a bed for him, now.” He says coldly to the receptionist.
The woman looks up at him, fear in her brown eyes as she stands up, shaking, “y-y-yes Mr. Aero, sir.”
Scott nods to her, as she steps out from around the desk, motioning to him to follow.
Ghost groans again in his arms as he breaths in again.
“Walk faster.” Scott ways in a growling tone, picking up his own stride.
The girl starts to walk faster as the few people in the clinic this late move out of their way.
They quickly make it to an empty room.
The lady moves out of the way so Scott can put Ghost down.
The villain lays Ghost down on the hospital bed, whispering an apology to him as the hero cries out in pain, tears soaking into his mask.
Scott brushes some stray blond hairs from Ghost’s face, “Your going to be okay.” he says quietly to the hero, no loud enough the receptionist can hear him, only Ghost.
And with that, Scott turns around, walking out of the room to where the girl is still waiting outside.
He turns to her, glaring at her, “He gets careered for immediately.” he says, “Call the Hero Association to get him later, but only after I’ve gone.” he tells her, and she nods her head vigorously, “Yes Sir, Mr. Aero.”
“Good.” Scott says, before walking back out the way he came in.
Scott walks out of the clinic through the emergency ward, main entrance, walking out, walking down the street a bit, before dipping into an alleyway, a flurry appearing behind him, hiding him as he walks away, going back to what he was doing.
