Work Text:
Sugary treats for my pirate
“Ed, love, why don’t you come in already. You’ve deserved a break!”
Stede was coaxing his partner, who had been working in their garden for the better part of the day with just his water there to keep him hydrated, not taking even a break for lunch.
Stede though, being a tad worried that Ed was pushing himself too much. The former pirate wanting their garden to be prepped and prim so they could start growing food there among flowers and whatnots soon enough there.
Ed wiped his brow, the sun shining brightly like it usually did on the island the two had chosen to remain on in their perfect small cottage. The one they could also rent out rooms in, just in case someone wanted to stay there for a while. The interior already in great shape, as where the small rooms for guests.
“Yeah, luv, I could use a break.”
Ed started towards the house, the great smells greeting him as soon as he hit the small terrace leading indoors.
“What’s ya got cooking there eh, luv?”
Ed moved towards the stove where Stede was peeping their meal. The heavenly smells filling Ed’s nostrils. Stede being the most perfect cook of their partnership, while Ed was the one more apt for the garden work and the heavy lifting.
“Your favourite stew, dear and then… tada… a chocolate cake! Just the way you like it!”
Stede waved the cake just beneath Ed’s face, his nose, the man hardly able not to sample it right there and then, but he really wanted to. Chocolate was his favourite treat for sure!
“Chocolate? You’ve got chocolate? For me?”
“Yeah, I found someone in the village who was able to procure it. I know it’s your favourite love! So I’ve made it into a cake.”
Ed only stared at the cake, then up and into Stede’s grinning face.
“I… I love you, Stede Bonnet.”
“I know you do. And I love you, Ed Teach.”
They kissed, Stede barely managing to keep the cake out of Ed’s reach, but there was dinner to be eaten first, then dessert.
“Dinner first, love.”
“I can hardly wait.”
After the dinner was consumed, Ed and Stede were sitting on the porch in their swing as night fell, Ed filled with his chocolate cake, his tummy sticking out too, but Stede loved it. Seeing his man all fed and content.
Stede patting the poking tummy ever so gently.
“I am really glad you liked the cake, dear” Stede chuckled, having had a small bite himself, but it was mostly for Ed’s benefit.
“More like, loved it!”
“So, no sex tonight then?” Stede laughed, seeing as Ed was already half a sleep from the sugary treats.
“Only if I can bring the cake too.” Ed smirked mischievously.
“Cake eh, sounds… interesting.”
“Yeah? Well, it will be luv, it will be.”
Ed winked, getting his best of everything, with chocolate and Stede. Life could not have been better for the former pirate living on the island with his best man forever. And the chocolate cake.
