Work Text:
Before Nile could react to the bullet coming for her, Nicky threw himself between Nile and the bullet and dropped dead to the ground.
Nile: "No, no, no, Nicky, Nicky, wake up."
Nile shook Nicky, and it took only a second before he looked at her with a smile.
Nile: "Why the hell did you do that?"
Nicky: "Old habit. How are you doing?"
Nile: "All healed up, just like you."
Nicky: "Great news. So, when is it time for dinner?"
Nile looked baffled at Nicky, because she hadn't expected that question.
Andy: "Dinner has to wait because we still need to clear the rest of the facility."
Andy had finally caught up with the rest.
Nicky: "Okay."
Nicky took his gun and got up before he left.
Andy: "According to Joe, he is just fine, so you don't need to worry about him."
Nile: "How do you know that?"
Andy: "Joe once told me that if one of Nicky's first thoughts after dying is about food, it is a sure sign he is all healed up. It is first when Nicky doesn't think about food that you should be worried."
Nile: "Or if he doesn't think about Joe, right?"
Andy groaned.
Andy: "Don't remind me about that, because I really do prefer that Nicky thinks about food instead of Joe, because if he thinks about food, it means I will get fed."
Nile and Andy both started laughing, which made Nicky turn around to look at them.
Nicky: "What's so funny?"
Nile: "Girl stuff."
Nicky: "Okay. Should we get moving on? Because I could really eat a big lemon meringue pie with chocolate sauce."
Nile: "I don't think you are supposed to add chocolate sauce to a lemon meringue pie, Nicky."
Andy: "No, no, he is right about the chocolate sauce. It tastes damn good."
Nile: "You are only saying that because you are hoping he will bake baklava for you."
Andy: "I have no idea what you are talking about, but I do know that what he is talking about is..."
Thanks to the enemy who had regrouped, they didn't get to argue more about that subject because the mission required them to focus on what lay ahead.
