Chapter Text
Maine has never really understood how their new monster family works. To be fair, they don’t really understand how monsters work in general, but specifically the circus baffles them.
Apparently, monsters doing magic is normal. That, on its own, is simple enough to believe. However, monsters being able to warp space–like Bil–or warp time–which they all have just discovered–feels a lot less simple.
Because a gaggle of children, ranging from one particularly tall teenager to a very sweet looking little girl, have all fallen out of one of Bil’s mirrors. Apparently it’s the little girl's fault, based on the way one boy is screeching at her despite her smug little grin. And apparently, because Maine is not allowed to recover, all of the children are monsters in some capacity.
Amazing.
Jester sighs as he glares at the group of cubs. He knows that in normal circumstances he’d be pinching the bridge of his nose, but unfortunately he’s having to physically restrain Pierrot and Harlequin because one of the children muttered something when they fell from the mirror, and Jester doesn’t feel like testing his patience today more than he already has.
Some of the children have that glint over their forms, the same kind Bil does when he takes a disguise to find them new fools. Some of them are likely fully monster, then, and not half-bloods like other children seem to be. Another thing of note is that all of the cubs know one-another. The tallest one looks like their overtly tall shepherd as he maneuvers them to be sitting in a pattern that probably makes sense to him, but makes absolutely none to himself.
“Alexei!” One boy whines, one that had been screaming earlier at a little girl with black pigtails and bright blue-green eyes, “Why can’t I help-!”
“If I let you help,” The tall one starts, Alexei probably, “You’re just going to kick Eleanora. Again.”
The little boy’s dark eyes just squint with a glare before he pouts where he was put beforehand. “This is so unfair. I didn’t do nothing.”
“Didn’t do anything,” One child corrects, before Alexei promptly slaps them over the head.
Maine shifts where they’re standing beside the Doctor, apparently studying the children like that will answer all of their questions.
“There are an awful lot of you,” Bil eventually says, words aimed at Alexei. The referenced boy just pauses stiffly before nodding. He bows slightly, a hand on his chest. The behavior reminds Jester of Bil, in all honesty.
“Uh, yeah. I’m Alexei, the oldest.” He introduces, pausing again as he looks over the group, like he doesn’t know who to introduce next. Jester takes the moment to look at him a little closer, noting his dark black hair and mid-tone blue eyes. He’s a little darker than some of his sibling skin-tone wise, but he isn’t the darkest.
The little boy from earlier brightens, seemingly making the decision for Alexei on who goes next.
“I’m Plaisley!” They shout, grin wide and showing off gapped front teeth. He has black hair as well, though parts of it are streaked white, the pattern so random it must be natural, “I’m the third oldest, but Corine is a dork so I get to go first!”
Alexei hits him on the back of the head too.
“I’m Corine,” The child from before chimes up, somehow looking younger than their probably-younger-brother. This child seems to be the darkest of them, and their hair is as curly as Harlequin’s is when the idiot takes care of it. Covering golden eyes are a pair of wide glasses, ones that look like they can extend somehow. It’s probably related to the masking they’re doing, one of the entirely monster children present.
The next child to, well… Not speak, but he raises his hand, is also using an ability to mask their appearance. They have brown hair pulled up into a disgustingly messy bun, and bright green eyes. Alexei speaks up for them, “This is James, he doesn’t talk.”
The teenager gets an exhausted look in his eye, slowly looking down to the little girl that still hasn’t lost the smug and satisfied look she had when they all fell through Bil’s mirror earlier. She strikes a pose when she realizes it’s her turn.
“This is Eleanora. She’s our youngest. And our problem.” This little girl is the palest of their group, and her hair is pulled back into two little pigtails at the top of her head before falling in waves down her back. Her eyes are a vibrant dark blue as well, feeling like they’re staring into Jester’s soul and laughing at his own exhaustion.
“And you’re all… Siblings…?” Maine asks from the side, face clearly confused. Alexei nods in response to the question, hand resting on his hip.
“Unfortunately, yeah.”
“We’re also your kids,” Corine mentions off-handedly, seeming almost bored at the situation, “Well, not just yours, but, like, all of yours. A group effort. There’s technically a pair of twins on the way too, I don’t think I’ve ever heard even the Doctor sound so tired at an announcement.”
Jester lets go of Pierrot’s arm as the man passes out, letting him thump to the ground in shock. He finally gets to try and ease his forming headache, than fuck.
