Work Text:
“Will you two just quit it already?” Byakuya says from behind Makoto. He's currently staring at a gift basket on Makoto's desk with a disgusted look on his face.
“What–”
Byakuya cuts him off. “That!” He furiously gestures towards the object. “Just get it over with.”
“What are you talking about?” he questions. Usually his co-worker is quiet, this tight lipped individual who rarely speaks. This is by far the most conversation they have had since Makoto started to work here.
“The courting,” he flatly answers.
Makoto tenses up at the word. “She– we're– it's not courting!” he stutters out, face red at the mere suggestion. “We are just friends!”
Admittedly, Kyoko has been giving him a lot of gifts over the past week. It first started when he complained about the office being cold and so, the alpha took it upon herself to offer him a scarf the following day.
It's not courting, seriously– she's just friendly and he is the only omega in the office. Heck, he's definitely caught Byakuya smelling his stuff before. It's just instincts, really.
“Do you think I'm dumb, Naegi? Believe me when I say she's courting you.”
He rolls his eyes. “Don't you have work to do?”
Byakuya mumbles out something about workplace fraternization and company police. Makoto chooses to block out the words and focus on typing up a document. “If you aren't going to help me, you can just go…”
The blond finally exits his cubicle, of course, not without complaining about it first.

Makoto heads over to the break room for his lunch.
“Naegi-kun, might I offer you a chocolate?” Kyoko asks from her place by the coffee machine.
He jumps at the sound of her voice and turns around to face the alpha. How did he miss her? “Um… sure.”
Kyoko stretches out her hand and he accepts the square of chocolate. “I haven't seen you taking much breaks, don't overwork yourself.”
Makoto gives her a shy smile. “I'm fine, really.”
He brings it up to his mouth and takes a nibble from the edge. Kyoko watches him, carefully studying his face for a reaction.
“Hey, this is pretty good,” Makoto comments.
“I have a case, you can have it.”
There's no room for him to refuse the offering so he doesn't bother to, not when Kyoko is so intensely focused on him.
He takes the opportunity to question her. “Kirgiri-san, are you… er– courting me?” he carefully asks.
She reaches for her cup and calmly takes a sip from it. “Yes, is that alright?” Kyoko replies easily. “I can stop if you are uncomfortable.”
Makoto silently curses Byakuya for being correct. Now that he's been proven right there's no doubt that he'll be smug about it.
“You can… continue,” he says. “I accept your offerings–” his gaze lowers, “...alpha.”
The title cracks through her calm exterior. A pale blush blooms across her face as she dryly swallows.
Somewhere from the break room Byakuya groans.
“God, make it stop.”
