Chapter 1: Pacing "One Moment, Two Speeds"

Summary:

"Write the same single moment twice, back to back. In your first version, slow the moment all the way down. Stretch it — let your character notice every small detail, every half-formed thought, every fraction of a second as it passes. Time should feel thick and almost suspended.
In your second version, compress that exact same moment into three to five sentences. No lingering. No internal thought. Just what happened, stated cleanly and quickly, and then move on."

Notes:

lets gelphie it up guys

Chapter Text

“I love you” was the last thing she heard from Elphaba before being closed into a nearby closet. Glinda watched, her eyes widened as she covered her mouth, silencing the cries she tried to bite back. Tears trickled down from her eyes to her cheeks, landing softly on her dress. The sliver of light hit her face as she watched Elphaba’s silhouette burst into a smokey haze, the little farm girl, Dorothy, clinging to the fallen broom as screeches echo through the room. The sound made her sick, It made her stomach churn in the most unpleasant of ways she could imagine. Time seemed too long, seemed to stretch for eternity as she had to watch in absolute silence. She could barely hear her own thoughts over everything, oh oz this was like torment.

“I love you too..” Glinda smiled at her before Elphaba shut the door on her. She ran out, broom in hand and faced the poor girl who ran in front of her and threw a bucket of cold water. She easily sunk through the floor, her illusions worked, it started to steam everywhere and she screamed to really play it off. Before she vanished beneath the floor she turned her head to the closet Glinda was in, a tear slipping down her cheek, this was goodbye
