Eyes That Can Make Even The Strongest Knight Falter

Summary:

Till Viremon, the only son of King Magnus Viremont III. Crown Prince of the Viremontysia Kingdom.

His father was known for his tyranny and satisfaction in watching opponents grovel under him. Who knew such son of a tyrant king be such a reckless immature and stubborn teenager?

He'd be around causing fights, trouble and basically scandals in his father's eye so much that the old man hired one of the most skilled knights in the empire to be Ivan's personal knight...

Ivan D. Minahal.

Known for his unfaltering cunning smile, stealthness and strong physique.

"I don't need someone to watch me 24/7 father."

Till exclaimed in protest in hearing that his father had hired him a personal knight, finding even the thought of it absurd. He's in his 20's for crying out loud... Sure it was normal to have a personal knight especially for royalties like him but his pride processed personal body guard as babysitter.

Notes:

Yall can translate Ivans full name from tagalog to english btw 🥹 It's actually Ivan di minahal so uh yeah I tried to sneak that in lmao. Oh and please excuse any typographical or/and grammatical errors for i don't have any autocorrect and usually write this half asleep

Edit: Again, I've re edited this chapter 😭 chapter 2 is in drafts.

Chapter 1: A what now?

Chapter Text

Till Viremon, the only son of King Magnus Viremont III. Crown Prince of the Viremontysia Kingdom.

Described as reckless, rebellious, immature short tempered and overall... “unprince” like.

His father was known for his tyranny and his satisfaction in watching opponents grovel under him. Who knew such son of a tyrant be such a reckless and stubborn teenager?

What a shame, the city whispered. "He could look much more attractive if he didn't dress and act so... Recklessly."

Till was... sensitive and easily irked, so of course; The city delinquents just loved pushing his buttons especially since for some reason— he refused..or perhaps forget to use his authority to good use and just take people fist to fist like he won't be sitting as Emperor when he gets married.

And his father did not like that. Not one bit. Vitemontysia had a reputation to hold and he couldn't allow his son to be allover the place punching random dudes in the local market. So... what better solution than hiring one of the most well-trained knights in the emperor? (He couldn't be bothered to discipline him.)

Ivan D. Minahal.

Known for his cunning smile that charmed any woman (or man...) to catch glimpse of it. Ivan and Till met once. When they were around 6-8 years old? Ugh, Till didn't even want to recall how weird he was.

Bang!

Till's hands slammed against the table as a scoff escaped his breathe.

"I don't need someone to watch me 24/7 father."

He was in his 20s for crying out loud! He did NOT need a random guy in armor to trail behind him wherever he went just because he couldn't keep his temper in check.. wording it like that makes it sound like he DOES need one.. but still! Imagine the humiliation! (It's normal for royalties to have personal bodyguards but he couldn't risk his oh so great pride and ego to be bruised just the slightest. Spoiler alert: It horribly is.)

"You definitely do."

His father replied calmly, cutting his medium rare steak with a table knife. Poking the small piece of steak with a fork and placing it in his mouth, pausing for a second or two before speaking once more.

"Plus, I doubt you'd dislike him. Millions would beg for a glimpse of his eye or a second of attention. While his job is literally to keep his eye on you and give you his undivided attention."

Magnus let out a deep, rich chuckle.Twirling his fork at the last sentence teasingly.

Till gruffed, rolling his eyes

"That doesn't make stuff better, this cuts off my freedom, I'll have a nagging guy beside me wherever i go telling me what i should and not do!"

His father doesn't reply this time, just casually chewing his food. Till's desperate protests laying deaf on his ear.

This old guy really tested his patience most of the time...

His eyes flickered to his fathers meal, eyes locking to his steak. Of course his food would be as bad as his awful decisions.

"Ew, is that raw steak?"

His father's eyes snapped back to him, surprised at the sudden change of topic, though, he could care less really.

"It's Medium rare, far from raw. And even if it was, it just means I always like it ra-"

Till's face cringes. Nose scrunching and mouth frowning and muttering out a "eugh.." sound he didn't even attempt to silence

Till stood up from his chair.

"I can't believe you made that decision without telling me first."

His tone disappointed, and clearly upset.

"The steak or the knight thing?"

Magnus questioned not removing his eyes from his food. As if that was a completely valid clarification...Dumbstrucked (on Till's part atleast) Silence and judgement enveloped them.

Was he deadass?

Till didn't even know if he was sarcastic or serious anymore. Till face palmed before mumbling

"Why would I say that about your steak- ugh. The personal knight matter thing!"

His father sipped red wine unbotheredly. Slightly rolling his eyes in exasperation.

"You'll thank me later, trust me. You've always had a type growing up. You know, those tall muscular charming guys, you'd stare at their chest whenever you had the chance to. Even at a young ag-"

Till exclaims, his face flushing in embarrassment

"What are you talking about!? That was a one time thing! Childish curiosity that's all! And- are you implying im homosexual!?"

"Never said that," Right.

His father just continued eating... Till stared at him unamusedly before sighing in annoyance and walking away. Not bothering to take a bite of his food, not after that announcement and argument.

With a frown, slumped back, crossed arms, furrowed eyebrows and occasional grumbles under his breath, Till walked through the halls, until he suddenly bumped into someone's chest causing both to stumble back

"Watch where you're going, jerk!"

Once he regained balance, he looked up to see...

Was that the same kid that crushed every single flower he saw in the garden with his palms whilst staring at his soul when they were a kid? Gods he's grown tall. Wasn't he like— 3 inches taller than him back then? Though, he couldn't remember his name. He's always just called the man "guy"

For a good few milliseconds, he found the guy attractive... Until he realized the guy was terribly concealing his laughter from him. So terribly you could even assume he wasn't trying at all.

Till's eyes twitched in annoyance... Gods he wanted to rip that smile of that guy's face so much. Smirking down at him like he owns the place.

"Not even a sorry? Nor an introduction?"

Till barks at the man, the guy's “rudeness” not contributing any better to his already sour mood

The tall guy chuckles softly at Till's words. Extending his hand to him.

"My apologies that you were grumbling at the ground and then bumped at me. I should have flown over you~ it's Ivan. Ivan D. Minahal."

Hm... he's heard that name before, it felt awfully familiar like he just heard it minutes ago... his eyebrows wrinkled slightly in question and confusion. Ivan's extended arm remained extended in an awfully awkward manner for a minute or two before Till reluctantly accepted it.

"Wait... What exactly are you doing here? People from outside aren't exactly allowed in the palace... at least without a formal invitation.

Till questions him with an accusing tone slightly feeling more cautious, eyebrows slightly raised. Praying the gods it isn't the reason he thought it was.

Ivan bent down, whispering into his ears like he'd say the deepest secret humanity has ever kept. Gee, was bending down really necessary?

"Your new knight..."

His hot breath tickled his ear, causing Till to feel a shiver run down his spine spreading goosebumps in its wake making Till flush once more and push Ivan away

"UGH! What is wrong with you! "

Till mumbles to himself, expecting his answer but still being unpleased so.

"So much for hoping for a tolerable one..."

Till uncrosses his arms just to cross it again for dramatic effect. Internally cringing in realization of the stunt he'd just pulled.

Ivan stumbles back slightly, giggling at his retort while finding his little action incredulous... The crossing arms or the push. You pick it. Works for both contexts anyways. Till continued eyebrows stitched, index finger on Ivan's chest as he poked him with every adverb

"That explains why you're so irritating and annoying and arrogant and-"

Ivan interrupted him with a teasing tone

"Oh my, what a pleaaaasant description you have of me."

Till stares at Ivan with an unamused and dead panned face. This guy was getting on his nerves, he felt like he could punch him any minute now.

"Haha, incredibly amusing, truly."

Till just met this guy a few minutes ago and already hates him... especially his annoying smile that made him feel like he was getting mocked and made him feel- woah woah woah! Let's not stoop THAT far into Till's thoughts.

"You're staring."

Ivan mentions as Till snaps back into reality and deepens his frown. Till wanted to murder that guy, here and now and what was stopping him? Absolutely NOTHING.

< /p>

when Till got the chance to attack, he tackled Ivan onto the ground, jumping at him like a mad cat... no like literally, he also hissed when he jumped at him.

punching his chest, both hands working on beating him up. Ivan was shocked by the sudden movement, letting out a yelp as he fell onto the ground.

Till was sitting on poor Ivan as he threw fists, Ivan's hips in between Till's legs.

You know what annoyed him more? What made his blood boil? What made him want to rip his limbs off?

Ivan was laughing at him. Not just a casual mocking chuckle here and there. He was shamelessly laughing. His laughs echoing across the halls. Rich and pure. Till felt like crying on the spot but he couldn't have that. It'd be dragged on for WEEKS. This is Ivan we're talking about.

"You bastard-"

Till's hands found their way to Ivan's throat, strangling and shaking him.

Ivan pushed Till off him before hovering onto Till, quickly flipping the tables. holding both his wrist above his head as a poor attempt to stop him from his tantrum

"Calm down! I was joking!"

Till finally stopped... The both were panting looking at eachother with rage.. well atleast Till was, Ivan was looking at him with concern and confusion. In realizing the scandalous look of their position Till barked

"Let go off me, you creep!"

Ivan did, getting off him. Sighing as he sat beside Till who still looked like a scrunched sponge.

They sat on the floor for a few minutes before Till stood up. Brushing the "Ivan dust" off him while looking at Ivan with disdain. That stupid guy.. waltzing in here with his stupid smirk then embarassing him by stopping him. Someone should fr put him in his place! Why is everyone in this palace poking all his buttons!

Ivan stood aswell, looking at Till amusedly.

Without knowing he had such a friendly companion trailing behind him, Till walked to his chambers, mumbling to himself how much he hated that Ivan guy and how weird his name was.

Till stomped into his chambers, practically jumping on the bed. Forgetting to close the door, Ivan entered his room and shut the door close slowly with a quiet "click"

Till's eye found his electric guitar in the corner of the room and went to grab it, still unaware of Ivan's presence.

Till placed the guitar on his lap and fiddled with the strings, using it as some self-regulation thing. Till tilted his head, touching Ivan's side.

When he realized Ivan was next to him, he practically squealed and jumped off the bed. Shreaking out the words...

"What are you doing here!"

Ivan replies calmly with

"My job,"

Ivan says in a matter-of-fact tone.

Till sighs at his reply, unable to find any excuse to get mad at him for well... doing his job. Maybe, hopefully he wasn't too bad to be around. Or else he'd have to go tell his dad to allow him to murder this guy.

After a few seconds, he finally pulled an excuse up his ass just so he can be pissy and not sound like he was enjoying Ivan's company.

"You appeared out of nowhere! How were you so quiet?!"

Ivan just shrugs while scooting closer to him. Till was confused on why he scooted closer to him, but he didn't move away. Their proximity making both feel something undeniable and strong...

Ivan's hand crawled ontop of Till's but Till flicked his hand away, blushing hardly with the company of a tch sound. Ivan sulked and kept his hands to himself... for now.

Awkward silence... Well for Till, Ivan was busy with darting his eyes everywhere in the room. Till couldn't help but stare at Ivan, he couldn't deny he found him attractive but that doesn't automatically mean he likes him... right?

Ivan's eyes wandered around his room, he saw... ALOT of art supplies. Notebooks scattered on the floor, canvasses covered by cloth, as if it was pieces to be ashamed off. He also noticed a few children's drawings on the walls which he personally found adorable assuming it to be Till's drawings when he was young.

"You paint?"

Ivan asks genuinely curious. Till replied, something off with his tone.

"Uh.. that's nothing, something stupid I do to waste time."

Till looked away, almost upset that the topic was brought up.

Ivan heard the uncertainty and insecurity in his tone but decided not to acknowledge it, reverting the attention to something else instead.

"Can I hear you play?"

Till was confused especially since he was still annoyed at him, why would anyone ask to hear him play? But he agreed to do so never less. Till's fingers hammered the guitar with precise. His song playing in the background, the music heavy and fast.

The scenario wrapping a comfortable intimate feeling between them... Which is ironic since he was playing rock but Ivan could count it as intimate.

"Oh by the way, I've never gotten a hello from you."

Till stopped slashing his guitar and side eyed Ivan before huffing.

"You don't deserve one, Idiot."

Ivan sighs exasperatedly as Till continued to play his guitar.

"You're so mean."
