“I’m not dying right Karen?”
Peter whimpers as he drags himself into an alley.
It had been harmless. It was supposed to be fine. If he had just seen ugly number three pull the loaded gun.
His spider sense had been blaring throughout the entire ordeal, so Peter didn’t realize until a bullet was lodged into his side.
“You are rapidly bleeding from the side, though no important arteries and organs were hit, I advise you to seek out Mr. Stark and the med bay in the avenger tower.” The AI answered
“Yeah thanks Karen, but I think I’m good.” Peter groaned out while leaning himself on the dirty alley wall.
Karen said no important things were damaged right? He’d experienced worse.
He will be fine.
The main reason why he couldn’t tell his mentor and almost-dad was because he wasn’t supposed to be on patrol right now.
He was grounded since trying to get the iron man suit working and taking off with it. Ned had been there, but Peter quickly covered him and said it was his idea.
While that wasn’t a complete lie, Peter had shown hesitation at first, when Ned asked him, the question written on a small paper which they passed around in class.
Tony wasn’t mad when he found out, because FRIDAY had told him what was happening before anything real could happen.
But he said that Peter needed 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚 suit pause, which apparently also includes Peters own suit.
A week no Spider-Man wasn’t awful.
Unfortunately Karen had not been notified of said revelation and informed Peter immediately of a robbery just two streets over from his favourite pizza place Delmars.
And honestly what was Peter supposed to do?
Let it happen?
Because Peter felt guilty for betraying his da- Tony, his spider senses had blared all the time.
And that’s how he ended up in an alley, clutching his side while trying to get his breathing under control.
“I highly advise calling Mr. Stark Peter.” His loyal AI interrupted his thoughts.
“No!” Peter panicked. “Mr. Stark can’t know, Karen please”
“If that is your wish, I will not be informing Mr. Stark”
Even though Karen did what Peter had asked she still sounded hesitant, if that was possible.
“Thanks Karen, now how do I fix this” Peter grounded out, biting his lips.
“Apply pressure but medical attention is needed.” She answered.
“Shit” Peter cursed. He didn’t have a choice, Peter knew he needed to fix this properly.
Maybe if I sneak in the Avenger tower?
“Karen, I’m gonna try getting into the avenger tower med bay okay? I need you not to inform Mr. Stark and keeping a low profile with FRIDAY” Peter didn’t await the AIs answer— he snapped a web from his wrist and started swinging to Avenger tower.
Peter arrived, and ungracefully sticked to on of the many windows decorating The tower.
Peter started crawling over the windows, hoping no one from the street down was looking up.
He must be looking ridiculous right now. Suit coated in blood, mask over his head and frantically searching for the window leading to the Avengers med bay.
There hasn’t been a mission in around two weeks, so no one should be there to see Peter. He just wanted some gauze and material to stitch his wound anyway.
He’d be in and out.
Squinting his eyes, he looked through one particular window.
Wasn’t that a first aid kit he saw?
Wasn’t that a hospital bed?
Now how would he get there? Smashing the glass would firstly, make a chance of getting more suspicious wounds, and secondly would surely draw attention from where he was.
“Karen”, he whispered.
Quickly understanding, the AI answered. “There is a small mechanism in the right corner of the window that allows the glass to be taken out.” “Careful” the AI added.
“Always.” Peter just whispered, his finger going over ridges in the said corner of then window.
“Gotcha” He celebrated as his finger found a small bump.
He pressed it and lightly applied pressure to the window.
His sticky fingers held the window as it slid away from its frame, allowing Peter to slowly duck through the now open window.
And he was inside.
Very careful he put the window back in its frame, shoulders slumping when he heard a click.
He released a breath he didn’t know he was holding and added a celebratory “How did I do that?”
“With careful and planned precision” Karen sounded proud.
Peter chuckled shortly before moving further into the room and inspections the several dozen medical equipment.
“Okay so Karen..what will I need?”
Karen started listing many medicaments that Peter thought couldn’t impossibly be English.
“Um maybe so a normal human can understand what you are saying?” Peter suggested.
“That first aid kit, a needle and thread and a small pill bottle in the cupboard over there should be enough” said Karen with a hint of amusement. “Thanks”
Peter quickly snatched the first aid kit of a bedside table and started to rumble through the drawers in the cupboard.
“Got it!” He whispered as he held a small box with a needle and thread.
“Now just the medication” Peter murmured while reading the label of a small bottle, before shaking his head and inspecting other small bottles.
“The grey one” Karen informed him.
Peter snatched it up before his spider senses suddenly started blaring.
His head shot up.
The door was open and on the threshold stood the Bruce Banner.
Peter froze and stared at the Man.
“Peter? What are you doing here man?” Bruce asked before his eyes widened like in a cartoon.
With just a few strides he stood before the still frozen Peter, crouching to inspect his side.
“Peter is that blood!? I thought Tony forbade you to go on Patrol?”
Peter sheepishly nodded and started to explain:
“There were these people and they were robbing a bank—“
“Peter is that pain medication?” Bruce interrupted him, eyes narrowed on the little bottle in Peter hand.
“You weren’t seriously trying to fix that yourself?” His hand pointed accusingly to the expanding blood stain on Peter’s suit.
“Look Mr. Banner, you don’t understand. It was an emergency.”
A little more pathetically, Peter added “Please don’t tell Mr. Stark sir.”
Bruce furrowed his eyebrows “Peter, we firstly need to quickly get you medical attention. And I don’t see how this does not concern Tony. He cares for you.”
And with those words Bruce Banner made Peter sit down on the hospital bed and alerted FRIDAY to call Doctor Cho, the trusted doctor of the avengers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peter hazily blinked his eyes. He was lying in a hospital bed, a light shining down on him.
He tried to sit up three times before finally succeeding.
His side lazily pulsed, so Peter looked down on it, to find the wound covered in gauze.
A person rushed in, someone he really didn’t want to see right now.
“H-hi Mr. Stark” Peter stuttered.
Tony looked down on him, his face a mix of worry and slight anger.
Tony sighed and opened his mouth, but before a single sound escaped it, Peter started babbling.
“Mr. Stark I know you said I wasn’t allowed to patrol, but this was really important. I swear the police wasn’t around and what should I have done? Nothing? You taught me to help people and I was really careful too, my spider sense was just really acting up and the wound wasn’t even that bad, Mr Banner just-“
Tony stopped him by lifting a hand.
Still Peter muttered “over exaggerating”
Tony lifted an eyebrow and sighed loudly.
“Kid”
“I did teach you to help people. But not when you are in high risk of getting hurt, never when you get hurt.”
His hand was waving in the air while he talked.
“And do 𝙣𝙤𝙩 downplay your wounds. Not when I was sitting at your bed, wondering if you could have bled out Peter. You could have died.
I told you to not go on patrol. You disrespected that.”
Peter shrunk together.
“But I don’t want you to feel like you can’t come to me when you’re injured.”
Tony’s eyes softened
“I care about you kid. I I want to make sure you will come to me if you have any problems.”
Tony’s hand now moved in Peter’s head, affectionately ruffling his brown curls.
“But don’t do that again” Tony added.
“I won’t” Peter sniffled
“I swear I won’t” They both moved into the hug at the same time.
Tony almost missed it. But he heard the small “Thank you Dad”
He answered.
“Of course Peter.”
