Nico tugs at the collar of his sweatshirt and sighs, hating that the room suddenly feels like it's closing in on him. Why did this have to be so fucking hard? “You and I both know that can’t happen.”
His chest feels tight as he glances back into the living room, seeing Timo lounging in the recliner, the baby fast asleep on his chest. He fights not to let his imagination get the best of him, but it’s no use. Images pop into his brain one after another—the two of them building a crib together, Timo holding a pup with brown hair and hazel eyes, matching rings on their left hand, family skate and first steps and late nights and everything in between—
