Work Text:
Charles Augustus Milverton opened the carriage's door and descended from it. He couldn't keep back the smile from his face. He was finally back from the business trip he needed to go to. It lasted for two days and he only needed to spend one night away from his home, but it was frustrating. As someone in his position, Milverton had a lot of enemies and he only felt safe in the Milverton Manor. Especially that he couldn't even take his secretary, Ruskin with himself this time. Someone needed to take care of one of his other business matters and Milverton only trusted Ruskin with the job. He was the sole person Milverton was sure that he would never betray him, after all, he was not a mere assistant.
He was also his mate. His Omega.
However, this also made the things complicated regarding the trip. Once Ruskin had a panic attack when Milverton wanted to leave him behind - they had an especially strong bond, even for an Alpha and Omega couple which made the separation harder for them. But while Milverton was able to bear it, Ruskin couldn’t handle it in the past. So Milverton was worried for him - but his secretary this time didn't keep him back. He told Milverton that he can go and he will be alright.
"Are you sure, Ruskin?" The night before the trip Milverton took Ruskin's chin into his hand and raised his head to look into his eyes. He could see the light of fear in Ruskin's gaze, but there was something else next to it. Something that seemed to strengthen up his secretary.
Ruskin gulped and nodded.
"Yes, sir. I will be fine." He answered and grabbed Milverton's hand. "You will come back soon, right? Back to me." He highlighted the word to me. Milverton let out a chuckle and gave a kiss to the other man's mouth.
"Of course, Ruskin." He whispered on his lips. "I will come back soon."
Milverton remembered this conversation as he walked in to the house. He couldn't wait to see Ruskin again, to dominate his mate - the separation had a different effect on him, almost putting him into a rut. But he was in control of himself and he wanted to keep it until he saw whether Ruskin was truly in a good state. He hoped that he didn't go half insane from his absence.
When he stepped into the manor, he expected that Ruskin would be there and waiting for him, like when they needed to separate during the day, but to his greatest surprise, Ruskin was not in the hall. This made his nervousness grow. Ruskin was surely notified by the other servants about his arrival if he was occupied with something else - but even this was hard to imagine. Ruskin needed, should have been there to welcome him.
If he was alright.
"Ruskin!" Milverton called his secretary's name and waited a little, but no answer came to his cry. He put his coat down in a hurry and decided that he would go and find Ruskin himself. It was clear that there was a problem arising during these two days and Ruskin didn't take the separation well. Milverton knew that only he would be able to drag Ruskin out of whatever state he was in. He sniffed into the air, trying to determine his secretary's position based on his scent and his eyes glowed up. He caught Ruskin's odor in a second. He was definitely in the house. Milverton began to follow the scent with quick steps.
It led him to their bedroom. Before he stepped in, he gathered himself for whatever sight he needed to witness. He hoped that Ruskin didn't harm himself in his hysteria. Then he put his hand onto the knob and entered the room.
"Ruskin." He called his secretary again, but in the next moment, his breath got cut away from the shock. What he saw was something he never saw before, not even in Ruskin's weirder states. All of Milverton's pillows were collected at the corner of the room - it was like a pillow fort that children built when they wanted to hide from their parents. But Milverton was sure that Ruskin didn't build it to hide from him. It was more of a nest, made from something that made his secretary feel Milverton's scent the strongest. It was his way to comfort himself in his absence - and it seemed that Ruskin shut himself in ever since the last night.
As there was still no reaction, Milverton walked to the pillow fort and bowed down in front of it. He was really careful when he removed one of the pillows, afraid that Ruskin might bite him in his current state. But nothing of the sort happened so Milverton was able to peek inside. Ruskin was lying under the pillows and he was holding one of Milverton's used clothes in his hands, covering his face with it - but what Milverton saw from his expression made sure of him that the last two days was a mental torture for his secretary.
Their eyes met. Milverton saw the disbelief in them first, then a second later, Ruskin jumped up, destroying the pillow fort and dropped himself into Milverton's arms.
"Ruskin..." Milverton wanted to say something, but Ruskin's hug was so strong that the sounds got left in his throat. Ruskin buried his head into his chest and Milverton felt that he inhaled his scent deeply. Milverton started pampering his secretary's head to calm him down. "I am here." He said quietly while Ruskin tried to disappear in his embrace. For a few minutes, Ruskin didn't talk, just tried to gather his strength from Milverton's presence, then after, when he was shaking a little less, he spoke.
"I am sorry, sir. I fulfilled the task what you have asked from me, but after..." he stopped for a moment. "I got weak. I couldn't take your absence anymore. So I... I needed to retreat here." He explained it quietly.
Milverton gently brushed his secretary's cheek.
"It is fine." He noted on a soft voice. "I am not angry. I am glad that you are alright in the end - and that you didn't cause yourself any harm."
"I didn't want to disappoint you." Milverton heard Ruskin's faint words which made him sure that he was indeed close to what he was afraid of. He shook his head and grabbed Ruskin's chin, just like on the evening before the trip and raised his head to look into the brown eyes.
"Not for the disappointment." He noted and covered his secretary's mouth with a kiss. He felt that Ruskin clung onto his mouth like his life mattered on it. Milverton didn't stop the kiss, the taste of Ruskin's lips just made his lust grow, but he decided that he will wait a little with that. He wanted to ease Ruskin's pain completely before he put him through the mating and the eventual separation after the anal act. He knew that it would be too much - and he didn't want to cause more suffering to his Omega.
Ruskin was his possession after all, and Milverton took care of what belonged to him.
"It is fine." He repeated when he cut the kiss away and he embraced Ruskin again, not even caring that he was still sitting on the ground among a bunch of pillows.
The mess can wait. But what he was doing will not.
