“Slept all day. Woke up at 5.10. Landlady complaining about smell. Too much ramen. Stabbed by man with tattoos. No idea what he was saying. Should learn language.
Found doctor for hole in my gut. Pretty woman. Didn't mind my rambling about heroin and child pornography. Name's Takemi Tae. Will investigate more later.”

“Shot. Woke up and placed single ramen box in trash. Whore landlady had better be happy. Still know no Japanese.
Doctor unsurprised to see me. Said this city is a hive of weirdos. Said I should investigate Harajuku. Said she likes my hat.”

“Scum bothered doctor. Watched through window while fat hospital tyrant ranted and raved about his own mediocrity. Or so I assume. Still cannot understand the language.
Did not get shot or stabbed. Could not visit the doctor. Left a daisy on her doorstep.”

“Woke up slightly less depressed. Put a second ramen box in the can. Investigated mediocre tyrant. Difficult to do without Japanese skills. Used Google. Proved adequate.
Stabbed by vending machine in attempt to liberate meal from within its dystopian depths. Offered apple to doctor. She complimented daisy of day before. Might have makings of a detective.”

“Doctor asked if I get shot, stabbed, and incinerated just to see her. Bold woman. I don't hate it. Her touch is feminine. Agreed that perhaps I occasionally get shot, stabbed and incinerated just to see her. She complimented my trenchcoat.
Went to intimidate joker at hospital and Joker at school. Got ass kicked by latter. Returned to doctor.”

“Learnt about cherry blossoms. Till now thought homosexuals were throwing confetti from balconies. Ought to take advantage. Asked taxi driver to write a note. Asked old woman to verify.
Tae laughed when reading it. Agreed to my request to watch cherry blossoms anyway. Really must learn Japanese. So far am interpreting using sign language.”

“Fought tattooed men with lollipops. Went to bed. Woke up and threw all ramen boxes into landlady’s trashcan. Feeling good. Checked newspaper for Japanese night classes. Hoped to get stabbed."
