Chapter Text
Bartending one of the man joys of his half life, just taking orders and shaking them up whilst making light conversation. Only slightly better than the nasty burger. You see I never wanted to end up here in this sleazy bar in Gotham the iceberg lounge or whatever, but whatever gets the bills payed. And hey if people keep on saying I’m good at it maybe I can start up my own, start paying for my classes instead of drowning in debt or dropping out.
”Hey Danny can we get three bee’s knees over there on the se on floor, the boss is having an.. er meeting”
”Sure, Dom but a hi, hello, hey would be nice”
A downside of being an up and coming mixologist is that his boss Oswald is always asking him to make things, like dude we are not that short staffed. Like anyone can make one it’s literally gin, lemon juice and honey. How hard is that to pour and shake up it very, considering I just learned from YouTube ! You know what keep calm Danny it’s just for the paycheque, just the paycheque.
”Okay Dom your three bee’s knees are ready for upstairs”
“Thanks Danny.”
Another downside of mixology is drunk men and women trying to shoot their shots, Which I’m not opposed to but it gets sick very quickly. Like some people can’t take no for an answer.
And again a downside of bartending is the rogue attacks, like every other week last it was two-face and a couple weeks before that Solomon Grundy.
“Hey can I get a margarita”
These words snapping him out of his daydream “sure coming right up” the thoughtless reply came out of his mouth like clockwork. From then on the bar was swamped for the night. Danny hardly having time for a break but I guess thats just what work is when you work in the most famous bar in Gotham.
Clocking out for the night was just like any other night in Gotham. Blistering cold on your face, people looking at you suspiciously. Oh and being mugged in an alley y’know the usual for Gotham on a Tuesday.
“Give me all your money” The guy(let’s call him Dave) said
“I mean I would but, money’s kinda tight for me at the moment”
”Again give me all your money” Dave said pushing a gun towards Danny
“Alright dude no need to be so pushy about it geez”
Pulling out his wallet, he spotted an unfamiliar mark of blue. ‘Ah one of Gotham city’s esteemed bats or birds, what a great time to be mugged’ Danny’s internal monologue seemed to hum. Danny continued trifling through his wallet to snatch the few bills and gift cards he could find before handing his wallet to Dave.
”Is that it” Dave seemed to shout
”No” Danny stuck his hand into his pocket again pulling out a button and a Claire’s gift card “This to, sorry paycheque lands in a week”
Just then the vigilante decided to make themselves known jumping of the fire escape onto Dave’s shoulders clearly surprised to the mass of weight that made itself known on his back. Face blaring annoyance as he dropped like a bag of potatoes.
“About time” Danny said exiting the alley, finally being able to make his way home until “Hey wait your wallet” the vigilante seemingly Nightwing based on Danny’s very limited knowledge of Gotham’s vigilantes called to him.
Nightwing jogged to catch up to him red and blue lights shining in the background highlighting the vigilante’s cheekbones ‘and wow’ “Here you go sir” Nightwing awkwardly murmured as he handed him his wallet.
