Side quests:
After defeating Payce T (Optional Boss fight), she can be seen in Toad Town.
The fight must have humbled her a bit since she talks to Mario and Luigi now. She somewhat apologizes for her behavior during the contest. She talks to them normally now, except if you have Hazelnut as the current partner. She would refuse to look at her.
Noticing this Hazelnut pulls the two brothers aside.
“Hey. Uh… I was wondering if you two could…”
Hazelnut tries to say. It was obvious how hard it was to get her words out.
“… What’s a good gift I can give her?”
She says quickly.
Mario and Luigi look surprised.
“A gift?! Don’t you two… hate each other?”
Luigi asked her.
“I mean… yeah of course! But…”
Hazelnut says before she sighed.
“I just… we used to be close.. but then we had a fight and… well.. look what happened.”
She looked away and blushed.
“I don’t want to fight anymore.”
She said quietly.
“Ah.”
Luigi said.
“So you think a gift would get her to talk to you again?”
“Yeah.. I guess..”
Hazelnut said, still looking away from the two.
So you can give something to Payce T now! There are two ways this quest can end, however, I’ll also include the ones that force you to pick again.
Common items that can be found everywhere:
“Really? Have you guys put any thought into this gift?”
Hazelnut says as she looks at the item Mario and Luigi gave to her.
“No, I need something more… special.”
Hazelnut forces you to pick again.
A piece of trash:
“Okay.. are you guys trying to make her hate me even MORE?!”
Hazelnut says in disgust as she looks at the item Mario and Luigi gave to her.
“NO!!”
Hazelnut forces you to pick again.
An expensive item:
“Woah! I guess this can work...”
Hazelnut says as she looks at the item Mario and Luigi gave to her.
Hazelnut grabbed the item and took a breath before going up to Payce T.
Payce T noticed it was Hazelnut and turned away from her immediately.
“…..Here, Blondie.”
Hazel says as she holds out the item towards Payce T while looking away.
Payce T acted like she didn’t care about what Hazelnut was offering.
She took a quick look anyway.
“Oh WOW Hazel.”
Payce T said, unimpressed with the gift.
“Look how RICH and FAMOUS you are. Are you trying to BUY me back, hmmm?!”
Payce T faced away from Hazel with her arms crossed.
“I don’t NEED you CHARITY! Get away from me!”
“FINE!”
Hazel stomped away from Payce T.
Mario and Luigi looked at Hazel as she approached them.
“Well THAT didn’t work...”
She said, embarrassed.
“Maybe something else…”
Hazel tells you to choose again.
Hazel’s specialty dish:
Hazel’s specialty dish is a little cupcake that looks like her! Light Pink frosting, chocolate muffin, marshmallows for her hat, sprinkles and 2 long chocolate pieces for her eyebrows.
(Very cute!)
“Oh! OF COURSE!”
Hazel said as she looked at the small cupcake.
She quickly thanked the brothers and took a small breath before she approached Payce T.
Payce T noticed it was Hazelnut and turned away from her immediately.
“Hey… Here, Blondie.”
Hazel says as she holds out the small cupcake towards Payce T while looking away.
Payce T acted like she didn’t care about what Hazelnut was offering.
She took a quick look anyway.
Payce T gasped slightly.
“That's…”
“Yeah…. I mean.. couldn’t have made it without you…”
Hazel told Payce T while looking away, blushing.
Both of them stood in silence.
“Look… I know I hurt you… well we both hurt each other..”
Hazel sighed.
“Look, you don’t have to forgive me, but I just want to give you this… in case you want to… try again.”
Hazel held out the cupcake. Payce T stared at it, her expression unclear.
Hazel started to lose her nerve. She was about to tell Payce T that she was just pulling a prank when Payce T gently grabbed the cupcake.
“…..”
“…..”
“Thank you.”
Payce T eventually said.
Hazel smiled at Payce T. Happy that she accepted her gift, especially because of its significance to them.
Payce T looked away immediately.
“Hmph! Don’t take this as me completely forgiving you!”
Payce T crossed her arms.
“After you’re done with your adventure with Mario and Luigi, I GUESS we can talk again.”
“Heheh! It’s a date!”
Hazel told Payce T mischievously.
Payce T looked at Hazel flustered.
“EXCUSE ME!?”
Payce T pointed to Mario and Luigi.
“Aren’t you supposed to be saving the world right now?! GO!”
“Okay okay! I’ll go!”
Hazel said cheerfully as she walked back to the brothers.
“Looks like it went well!”
Luigi said as he saw how cheerful Hazel was.
Mario gave Hazelnut a thumbs up.
“You know guys.. not to rush you but.. We should save the world as fast as we can!”
Hazelnut ordered the brothers.
“Oh! Uh we’ll try!”
Luigi said nervously.
Secret option (Couples cake):
“WHAT!!!??? GUYS!!!”
Hazel looked at the Couples cake, extremely flustered.
“This is for….. no.. I can’t just go up to her and…”
Hazel took a breath.
“You know what? Sure. I’ll do it. It’s crazy- No. YOU guys are crazy, but I’ll do it!”
Hazelnut said as she grabbed the cake and took a deep breath. She approached Payce T.
Payce T noticed it was Hazelnut and turned away from her immediately.
“Why am I doing this?”
Hazel told herself quietly. She held out the cake to Payce T.
“HERE!”
Payce T acted like she didn’t care about what Hazelnut was offering.
She took a quick look anyway.
“!?”
Payce T noticed what Hazel was giving her.
“WHATWHATWHATWHAT!?”
Payce T started yelling in shock.
“LOOK IT WASN’T MY IDEA!! Well kinda…”
Hazelnut quickly got defensive as she explained herself.
“ANYWAYS! I know I hurt you… well we both hurt each other. So… I just wanted to give you a gift.. in case you… want to… try again.”
Hazelnut said quickly, both nervous and flustered.
“….”
“…..”
“….”
“….”
Payce T burst out laughing.
Hazelnut immediately got defensive.
“WHAT’S SO FUNNY!!!???”
“Hazel!!! Are you actually THAT desperate… for ME!!!”
Payce said as she kept laughing, blushing while doing so.
Payce T calmed her laughter down.
“Oh this is rich!!! The FAMOUS Hazel BEGGING for FORGIVENESS!!!
“Are you taking the cake or not!!!??”
Hazel shouted at Payce T.
“Fine! But I’m not eating it.”
Payce T said as she grabbed the cake.
“YOU’RE NOT EATING IT!!!!??? Are you actually keeping it as a reminder of-“
Hazel started shouting at Payce T before getting interrupted.
“I can’t eat it alone you know.”
Hazelnut stopped mid sentence.
“Hazel! You're so cute!!!”
Payce T started laughing again.
Hazelnut never felt so embarrassed in her life. Payce T LOVES how pathetic she’s being right now. She should have never done this. She’s actually going to murder those brothers.
“You know what, Hazel? Maybe I MIGHT forgive you! If it means more of this…”
Payce T laughed mischievously.
“After you’re done with your adventure with Mario and Luigi, you can come RIGHT here and we’ll talk!”
“Heh. It’s been a while since we ate one..”
Payce T waved goodbye to Hazel.
“Bye!! My sweet cupcake!!”
She said as she burst out laughing again.
Hazel refused to say anything else. She stomped away from Payce T and towards the brothers.
“Um… at least you two aren’t fighting anymore!”
Luigi said as he saw how embarrassed and angry Hazel looked.
“I hate you guys.”
She told them.
Luigi smiled nervously while Mario remained silent.

Regardless of how you complete this quest, Payce T would help you out a bit when you talk to her again!
She can give you various cooking items, if you ask her nicely of course (Or making Hazel beg for it).
So if you ever need a quick healing item.. You can just go to Payce T to get one for free!
