Dean and Castiel get married on Valentine's Day.

Work Text:

February fourteenth, which is known as Valentine’s Day. Or if you’re Dean Winchester, it’s Unattached Drifter Christmas. However, that will now be changed to something else entirely for Dean. Today was special. Today, he is marrying Castiel - the Castiel - the angel of the Lord.

Dean feels giddy when he reminds himself and looks at himself in the mirror at his reflection. He raked over the suit he wore in the mirror; it was a relatively simple white tuxedo, but on the inside of his tuxedo jacket, it was colored a deep blue with simple floral outline patterns. His bowtie was colored deep blue to match the inside of his jacket. Pinned to the lapel of Dean’s tuxedo jacket was a rosemary flower.

Giddy, he looked up at the clock and saw that it was nine fifty-six. He quickly looks back at himself in the mirror, and gives himself one last look over. “You got this, Winchester. It’s only one of the most important days of your life.” He whispers to himself. Hastily, he exits his dressing room and heads down the hall towards the double doors that lead to the altar where he and Cas would exchange their vows.

To say that Dean was nervous was an understatement. It’s his wedding day, for Christ’s sake! He never imagined he would ever get married - hell, let alone have a healthy and loving monogamous relationship with a man. Well, more like an angel, but that’s besides the point.

He arrived at the doors as he fixed his tuxedo jacket with a nervous gulp. He could hear the music playing inside, making his nerves even more frayed. When was the last time he felt this nervous?

“Dean?”

Dean whipped around to the sound of the familiar raspy and low voice, and then his breath caught in his throat. There was Castiel, walking up to him and he looked breathtaking.

He wore a white tuxedo as well, and from what Dean could see, the inside of Cas’s jacket was a pale forest green color adorning similar floral patterns of his own tuxedo jacket. He also wore a pale forest green bowtie and a rosemary flower pinned to his lapel on his tuxedo as well. Just seeing his angel was enough to melt away the anxiety.

Dean could fall in love with him, again and again.

Dean remains silent as Cas joins his side with a concerned expression. “Are you alright, Dean?” The angel inquired sweetly. Dean nods fervently, “Yeah. I’m good.” The ex-hunter stares ahead at the doors, afraid that if he looked at his angel now, he would sweep him off his feet and take him away to show him how much he loved him.

Behind the doors, the music shifts into something slow and melodic. The couple recognize it as their walk out song, and they quickly link arms. “I’m happy that all of these people came,” stated Cas, gripping tightly onto Dean’s arm.

Dean finally cranes his neck to look over at Cas, seeing him also looking ahead at the doors. He smiles softly at Cas’s tender expression. “Me too,” The hunter replied. Cas looked up at Dean, a smile gracing his features.

Castiel could fall in love with him, again and again.

The double doors opened, causing the music to pour out. Cas and Dean begin their slow walk into the room, their guests standing up and turning to look at them. In the crowd, Cas and Dean smile at their friends - their family.

They spot Jody, Claire, Alex, Rowena, Donna, Eileen, Garth and his family of werewolves. At the altar stood Sam and Jack; Sam was Dean’s best man, and Jack was Cas’s best man. Between them was Jim, Garth’s father-in-law and acting as Cas and Dean’s officiant.

Everyone smiled at Cas and Dean as they slowly walked down the aisle together with their arms still linked. They exchanged smiles with some of the guests as they finally made their way to the altar. Cas and Dean stand opposite of each other as Jim orders everyone to be seated. Once everyone is seated, Jim clears his throat, “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Dean Winchester and Castiel of Heaven,” Castiel and Dean just stare at each other, their smiles wide and infectious as Jim speaks.

Jim’s speech begins to blur as the couple stare into each other’s eyes lovingly. Everything is romantic - the way that Dean stares at Cas, and the way Cas stares back. They could fall in love again and again if they were given the chance.

“Should anyone object to this union, speak now, or forever hold your peace,” states Jim as he looks up into the crowd behind Cas and Dean. The couple look out to their guests, seeing that no one is making a move or saying a word. The guests begin to laugh, making Dean and Cas confused. They turn to see that Sam and Jack had guns strapped to their hips, making them laugh in turn. Even Jim gives a small chuckle.

Once the laughter dies and Sam and Jack conceal their guns, Jim continues. “We will now hear the vows that Dean and Castiel have chosen to write and witness the ring exchange,” He says, backing away a tad. Dean and Cas look towards where they entered to see Garth’s daughter, Gertie, walking down the aisle holding a small pillow with the gold rings in her small hands.

The guests awe at the little girl in her cute little pink dress as she carefully holds the pillow and walks down the aisle. Cas and Dean smile as Gertie stops before them and holds up the pillow bashfully. Dean takes Cas’s ring, and Cas takes Dean’s ring. They quietly thank Gertie, and then the little girl runs back to her parents.

Dean then clears his throat, pulling out a small green notebook from his inner tuxedo pocket with the words “His Vows” written in cursive on the cover, careful not to drop the ring.

He opens the notebook and begins to read, “For the longest time, I believed that I wasn’t worth anything or deserved much. I was a casanova hunter for thirty odd years, believing that my story would come to an end by the edge of a blade or the barrel of a gun. And during that time…I was okay with that.”

Sam, Jack, Jim, and the guests watch and listen on bated breath and tears in their eyes. Cas just stares at Dean with a loving (but also tearful) gaze. Dean sheds a tear and quickly wipes it.

He clears his throat, looking back down at his vows in his hand, holding Cas’s ring in the other. “But then you swooped down into Hell and saved my soul from eternal damnation that I now know I didn’t deserve. As I look back on our time together, I cherish the memories we made; the good ones and the bad ones.” Dean continued, looking up at Cas occasionally with more tears.

Dean sniffles, wiping away his tears. “Even then, even after you saved my sorry ass, I still felt that that was my destiny; to go out in a blaze of glory and leave behind a kickass legacy.” He added with a chuckle. The last sentence got a chuckle from the guests, making Dean and Cas smile.

The ex-hunter straightens up, puffing out his chest. “And when I got the Mark of Cain, I thought that that was it; I thought it would be my downfall. But you stepped up and comforted me through it. You told me not to think of what could’ve been and held me. Those words you spoke to me molded everything I knew and felt about you. I fell so hard and deeply in love with you. It was something I never thought I’d get to feel ever again. You showed a deep, profound love that I never thought was possible for me to have. I love you, Cas. If I could, I’d go back in time and do it all over again. I would gladly fall in love with you. Again and again.” He says, letting his tears flow freely.

Castiel nods and smiles, folding his hands out in front of him. Dean holds up the ring, and Cas instinctively holds his hand out.

Dean continues, “And with this ring, I promise to love you, to cherish you, to lift you up, in sickness and in health. I’ll stand with you for your highs and your lows. I will be the lighthouse you see when you are drowning in your sorrows. I vow to be forever by your side, not just as your charge, but as your husband and partner.” He concludes, slipping the ring onto Cas’s left ring finger.

Cas smiles even more, pulling his hand away to look at the ring. He looks up at his ex-hunter, wiping away his tears as he reaches into his tuxedo jacket’s pocket. Cas pulls out a similar notebook, but his was colored blue and also had “His Vows” on the cover.

The angel opens the notebook with a sniffle, and then he reads. “For many millennia, I was Heaven’s obedient soldier. I did as I was told and asked no questions, even when I should have. When I raised you from perdition, I was so fascinated by you and how beautiful your soul is.” He begins, making Dean gaze at him.

Taking it as a good sign, Castiel continues. “From then on, I was at your beck and call, ready to help you become the Righteous Man and help Heaven to prevent the rise of Lilith and Lucifer. I was ready to die for the cause, to die for you.” Dean nods along, letting his angel know he’s listening intently. “Our time together sparked something within me, and I rebelled against Heaven in my pursuit to serve you, to be your guide. I began to feel and experience human emotions for the very first time. At first it was terrifying, but you taught me what it meant to be human and to strive for the better.” He adds with a thoughtful nod.

Cas takes a breath, letting his tears flow freely. “However, you also taught me how to live, and to love fiercely. You taught me what it means to be family. While I made many mistakes during our time together, you still showed me forgiveness. You helped me become better, and for that, words will never come close to being enough.” reminisced Cas, letting his tears continue.

Dean and Castiel could fall in love with each other, again and again.

Cas holds up his ring, and Dean holds his hand out. “With this ring, I promise to love you, to cherish you, to lift you up, in sickness and in health. I’ll stand with you for your highs and your lows. I will be the light when the shadows are great. I vow to be forever by your side as your husband and partner. I love you, Dean.” concluded Cas, slipping the ring onto Dean’s left ring finger with a smile.

Dean pulls his hand back, still gazing at Cas. Jim steps forward, his own smile big and bright. “By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you Mister Winchester and Mister Winchester. You may kiss the groom!” Jim announced.

Dean yanks Cas into his arms, spins him around and dips him. And then - finally - their lips meet. The guests all stand and clap wildly; even Jack claps with a big smile on his face. Cas and Dean pull away and straighten up and look out to their guests with big smiles.

Notes:

Hey yall! So...it's been 3 weeks since I last posted. I fear the AO3 curse has finally hit me. /ᐠ ¬`‸´¬ マ
Literally the day after I posted "I Hear a Symphony" for this series, my dad got his ass ran over by a fucking tractor - he's alive. Hb got his femur broken and was stuck in the hospital for a whole week. He has been home since last week and I've been busy taking care of him while my mom is at work. I've also been playing the full release of "Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream" for ungodly amounts of time between routine care for my dad. It's also been extremely difficult to write this one. I've never written a wedding before, so I hope that wasn't too obvious. That's why this installment took so long. I'm sure the wait was excruciating, but it's here now!

Anyways, there will be at least two more installments to this series, which means it will end soon. I MIGHT do more Supernatural fics in the future, but I have ideas for an original story that I've been cooking up in the ole noggin for quite some time now. I might start leaning towards original content, but there might be fan works for other media here and there as well.

As always, thank you so much for reading and I'll be seeing yall in the next installment!
