Summary
After the cost of endless bloodshed, death, and hatred, Rhaenyra I—eldest daughter of the late King Viserys I, Light of the Realm, and Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men—has secured the crown that is her rightful inheritance from the usurper’s rebellion.
Now comes the hour of reckoning.
The usurper, the false king Aegon, is dead; his two sons have likewise met untimely ends. Dowager Queen Alicent and Queen Helaena are confined, Prince Daeron has been married off to the North, and Princess Jaehaenyra is betrothed to Prince Aegon. The Green rebellion ought to be at an end—yet the perilous rider of Vhagar still haunt the Riverlands, casting a long and grievous shadow over the glory of the Iron Throne.
In 131 AC, the Battle Above the Gods Eye was absurdly cut short by a sudden heat. The kinslayer, the scourge of the Riverlands, the ambitious Green regent—Prince Aemond “One-Eye”—was taken captive by Prince Daemon, and, together with his dragon, conveyed in chains to King’s Landing to face judgment at the hands of Prince of Dragonstone, the Queen’s Hand and Protector of the Realm, Jacaerys Targaryen.
He must endure penance and the lash of the avenger before he can be granted absolution.Series
