Work Text:
The gang was lying down on the picnic towel after eating, just enjoying each other's presence, relaxing and talking about random matters. It's rare having them all together, especially Mari and Hero.
“Eggplant isn't really that great, grapes are better”
Kel teases Aubrey, she replies:
“Says the guy who eats coffee with orange juice. That's worse than pineapple on pizza”
“Orange Joe is perfect! You just haven't drunk it enough to fall in love with it! And so is pizza with pineapple, okay?”
“Ew, Kel, ew!"
Mari joins the conversation
"At least we can all agree that watermelon is amazing."
Both Kel and Aubrey nod.
“Yeah, amazing and better than whatever is eggplant.”
“Eggplant is a NORMAL food, instead of that poison you drink!”
“Hate to admit it but she got a point, Kel” He was betrayed by his brother.
“Hero! Come on! Why?”
“Haha, see? You’re the food weirdo one” The girl laughs.
“Hey, Mari, what about you?” Hero asks.
“Heh, gonna stay impartial with this one.”
“Hmm…” Kel doesn't want to lose. “Sunny, Basil, what about yall?”
Basil is the one to answer.
“I, I don't think it really matters. It's just food, after all.”
“Is my food also just food? I'm not making more sandwich for you then” Hero teases while laughing.
“Yep! Is like saying that plants don't really matter since they're just plants, after all” says Kel.
“Uhum, food is very important indeed! That's why you should eat normal food like eggplant” Aubrey adds.
“Haha, okay, fine, you all got decent arguments. With that being said, I'm in… Kel's side.”
“Kel's!? Dude, really?” The girl questions her friend.
“I kinda like pineapple with pizza. It's good, you should try it one day, Aubrey.”
“Uhulll!! See? My buddy has good taste” Seems like there's hope for Kel.
“But I'm still not a fan of Orange Joe, that tastes bad. Sorry, Kel.”
“Eh, I'll convince you one day to prove it again. Sunny, what about you?”
Up until this point he was just listening to their debate about food. He likes seeing his friend interacting, even if it is for dumb causes.
He thinks for a while.
“Kel's.”
“No way! Whyy?” Aubrey is in shock — and who wouldn't? She lost to a freaking coffee with orange juice enjoyer.
“AHA!! Love you man!” The victorious boy says as he hugs Sunny.
“There is something wrong with the air, that must be it.” Mari laughs at Aubrey's comment.
“Two against three, It looks like I won!” Sunny is still strapped in his hug as Kel shakes in celebration. He doesn't mind, he likes his friends hugs.
The conversation continued, and the subject quickly changed. Sunny spent the rest of the evening that way, hearing his friends talking and laughing.
It was a lovely day of the many more that had come and would come in his life.
