Work Text:
The windows of the uber are slightly fogged, the radio music softly fills the car and Jiung is in the backseat, eyes barely open and hugging himself, trying to fight against the cold and sleep. His solo schedule had run much later than planned, things turning more stressful than they should, people got louder and everything got more overwhelming. There’s no part of his body that doesn’t hurt, he’s sure he’s going to end up dragging himself from the street to his bed.
He unlocks his phone for the 10th time in the past 5 minutes, his screen showing him the last thing he had opened, and the same thing he had opened the last 9 times, his chat with Keeho.
Keeho <3 [3:14 pm]: do u wanna do a movie night tonight
Keeho <3 [3:14 pm:]: i'll wait for u at ur dorm
Keeho <3 [3:14 pm]: after schedules
Jiung [3:14 pm]: Sure, yeah

Jiung [8:45 pm]: Hey
Jiung [8:45 pm]: I think my schedule might run a little later than expected
Keeho<3 [8:45 pm]: oh nooo

Jiung [11:34 pm]: Hi
Jiung [11:34 pm]: I’m sorry
Jiung [11:34 pm]: They finally let me go
Jiung [11:34 pm]: I’m on my way now
Jiung [11:35 pm]: Are you still waiting for me?
Jiung [11:36 pm]: I’m sorry
He stares at the delivered mark under the last message and his tired mind starts to wonder if Keeho is maybe asleep or busy or he’s mad and ignoring him… Maybe he left? No, if that had been the case, he would have let him know.
The cold hits him in the face as soon as he opens the car door, he thanks the driver once more before closing the door and walking as fast as his tired legs allow him to the dorm building. In the lobby the warmth encapsulates him again and the thought of finally being able to cuddle with his boyfriend warms his heart, he really hopes Keeho is just asleep.
The Jiung that stares at him through the elevator’s mirror startles him a little bit. He can barely keep his eyes open, he has really notorious dark circles under his eyes, his hair is messy, and he’s slouching. A sigh escapes his lips. He feels so drained and in moments like this it’s hard to remember that he is living his dream and he is where he wants to be.
His footsteps echo through the small hallway leading to his dorm, he struggles to move his cold fingers as he presses the buttons to unlock the door, but finally, he’s in the dorms.
When the door closes behind him, it feels like all the sound in the world diminishes and peace can finally settle in his heart and mind.
The soft sound of a guitar playing spills from under one of the bedroom doors, laughter coming from another one, and the sound of dishes clicking against each other carries from the kitchen. He quickly takes off his shoes and jacket before hurrying towards the kitchen and coming to a halt under the doorway. He can immediately feel his shoulders dropping and his whole body relaxing, a soft smile sneaking onto his lips.
In front of him, Keeho’s back is facing him while he dances in front of the stove, humming along to a song playing on his airpods. Jiung giggles to himself before tiptoeing closer to his boyfriend and quickly hugging him from behind, making Keeho jump and scream in fear.
“What the fuck?!” Keeho turns around, still inside Jiung’s embrace, bewildered eyes and breath uneven. “You could’ve killed me, dude!”
Jiung’s loud laugh echoes through the kitchen, alongside the sound of a pop song coming out of an airpod that now lays forgotten on the floor. Keeho finally calms down and starts giggling, rolling his eyes and hitting Jiung on his chest. Now that his heartbeat has slowed down and he’s no longer in a useless fight or flight state, he can properly see his boyfriend, whom he had been waiting for while prepping tea.
“You didn't answer my texts,” Jiung mumbles, blinking at Keeho.
Keeho’s gaze goes soft when he looks at the man in front of him. A slight pout forms on his lips and his hand comes up to caress Jiung’s cheek, the latter snuggling his face into his soft hand and closing his eyes.
“I left my phone in your room. I put it on silent when Intak wouldn't stop spamming me with reels and I forgot about it.”
“I thought you had left.”
“I told you I was going to wait for you.”
“Yeah but it's late.”
“I’ll wait for you anyway.”
Silence settles between the two. Jiung opens his eyes and blinks slowly, his cheek still pressed against Keeho’s hand.
“Okay.” he whispers.
Keeho smiles at him and leaves pecks on his lips. Jiung receives them without complaint and hums contently, which makes the other giggle.
“You’re tired.”
“Mhm, exhausted.”
“Do you want some tea?” Keeho asks, stepping back a little bit to have a better look of Jiung’s face to which Jiung whines and wraps his arms around Keeho, bringing him closer.
“No.” He replies, hiding his face in Keeho’s neck. “I just want to sleep.”
“Okay then.” Keeho kisses his temple before starting to walk, Jiung not unwrapping himself from Keeho. “Ungie, we’re going to fall.”
“I don’t care.” His voice sounds a little muffled by Keeho’s neck and he can feel a smile against his skin, which makes him smile too.
Slowly they start to walk towards Jiung’s bedroom. Keeho walks with big strides so he doesn’t step on Jiung, and Jiung walking backwards, arms around his boyfriend’s waist and face still hidden, blindly trusting Keeho.
When they finally get to the room, Keeho leads them to the bed, where Jiung throws himself and reaches his arms out to Keeho.
“What?” He laughs, looking at the man sprawled out in front of him. “I thought you said you were going to sleep.”
“Yeah.” Jiung lowers his arms and looks at Keeho. “Are you leaving?”
“You said you were exhausted, Ji.”
“Yeah, so?”
“I’m going to let you sleep,” It sounds more like a question when the words leave his mouth, Jiung frowning and sitting up on the bed. “I don’t want to bother you.”
“What are you saying, Kyo?” Jiung reaches out and grabs Keeho’s hand, bringing him down to his side. “The only thing that kept me sane through the day was the idea of laying in bed with you, why would you bother me?”
Keeho looks away, fidgeting with his hands. “I don’t know, I figured if you were tired then you wouldn't want to put up with anyone.”
“I think if anyone were to come up and knock on my door right now, I'd throw my desk chair at their heads.” Jiung moves his head in front of Keeho’s, finding his eyes. “But that never applies to you.”
Keeho finally looks at him, trying to suppress a smile. “Corny.”
“Shut up.”
Jiung finally lays down, Keeho laying next to him and he tucks them under the blankets. Their hands meet and Jiung brings them to his lips, leaving a soft kiss on his beloved’s hand.
“I could be having the worst day ever,” He starts, his voice low but his words sounding strong in the quiet of the room. “And I would always want you to stay by my side.”
They kiss soft and slow, both of them trying to transmit everything they can’t put into words yet. When they pull apart, Jiung leaves a quick peck on Keeho’s lips before wrapping his arms around him, Keeho’s face now resting on his shoulder.
Their legs tangled under the sheets, their hearts beating in unison and their love spreading warmth into the cold bedroom. A content sigh escapes Jiung’s lips when he closes his eyes, bringing Keeho impossibly closer.
He’s finally at home.
