Summary
The rage burning within him quickly simmered, blurring into a mixture of respect and amusement. Gavin had to hand it to the man before him - he’d never seen such nerve before, not even from a fellow vampire. Vampires were predatory, but even predators knew to back off from another’s rightful kill. Yet this man before him, unquestionably human with a fastly beating heart and dulled teeth, had eyes burning with something far more animalistic than any vamp he’d ever known. There was something almost feral in its intensity, in its bloodlust - burning so brightly, it erased the typical caution found even in the predators at the top of the food chain. Not an ounce of fear was detectable in the man, despite staring directly into the bared fangs of a vampire not only far faster, but stronger, than him.
Any and all desire to rip the man’s throat out for daring to steal a meal from him vanished in an instant, replaced entirely by intrigue.
Oh, this man was fun.
