After all the time Toko and Komaru have spend together, Toko slowly recognizes that Byakuya was toxic to her. This is mainly because Komaru is such a polar opposite force-constantly encouraging her, denying when she calls herself ugly-and the feeling Byakuya gave Toko is happening with Komaru, except it feels better.
She can't really figure out how it feels better, but she definitely doesn't miss the way Byakuya made her feel. Komaru has challenged her perspective, and she feels better about herself because of it.
It starts slowly, but she feels herself hardly ever thinking about her 'master'. She stops considering him as such too. Instead, those feelings seem to have transferred to Komaru.
Before she actually realized that she was in love with Komaru, she would feel tingly at the stupidest things. Komaru would rub the side of her arm as they walk along the road, a silent sign that she's not alone as the sun sets and it gets darker. Komaru randomly pulling her into hugs, and burying her head into her neck.
It eventually gets to the point where the fantasies she has of Byakuya become fantasies of Komaru. She'll imagine being tied up, completely to the younger girls will. Komaru has occasionally caught her during her day-dreaming, just shaking her head as she recognizes the look plastered on Tokos face. She's wrong to assume it's about Byakuya though.
It gets really bad when Komaru accidentally gives Toko orders. It was no secret that she would do whatever her 'Master' asked her whenever, so it wasn't really the weirdest outcome for Toko to go to.
They'll be on a supply gathering trip, and Komaru will command her around-jokingly, of course- but Toko will comply surprisingly quickly, especially considering how prickly she normally is. Komaru will ask her to grab something and bring it to her, and instead of grumbling in annoyance, she'll straighten up and follow through with it as efficiently as she can.
Komaru notices, but doesn't pay the most attention to it. Maybe the occasional 'huh, that's weird', but for the most part she just assumes it's Toko finally warming up to her.
She finally understands what's up with Toko on a random night. She sits up in bed, and realizes Toko isn't in it with her, but rather writing at her desk. She sighs, before grumbling out to Toko to come back to bed.
Instead of an annoyed mumbling like she expected, she notices the way Toko seems to straighten up-as if being interviewed- and squeaks out a "Y-yes Mistress!"
Toko must have done it unconsciously, because she instantly turns to face Komaru, a spluttering, blushing mess. Komaru just grins impossibly wide at her, and walks over to wrap her in a hug.
Not long after they finally admit their feelings to each other, Toko more casually calls Komaru Mistress. Not to the extent that it was with Byakuya, but just enough that it reminds Komaru who the hell she started dating.
It also gets recognized by the other surviving students from class 78 when they finally all hang out. Komaru decides she hasn't seen her brother for a while one random morning, and that leads to them traveling to the future foundation.
They spend most of the day there regrouping, so to say. Of course, for Komaru it's mainly just being introduced to everyone. It's a little awkward for Toko and Byakuya at first, but once a surprised Togami realizes Toko isn't thirsting over him things go by smoothly.
It isn't until they're all sitting around a table at lunch, that the new development is noticed. Aoi was trying her best to catch up with Toko, and the author was still being a slight ass to her.
And Komaru-in a joking tone, though she did want Toko to be nicer- exclaimed "Toko. Be nice to your classmates."
Toko, forgetting who she's with, immediately straightens up and quickly lets out a "Yes Mistress!" After a second too long of silence though, she glances around the table with wide eyes, before the recognition that she just said that in front of everyone hits her. She flushes and awkwardly stares down at the table.
Kyoko gives her a knowing look, Yasuhiro grins, Aoi beams at her with a wide smile, Makoto has shock etched all over his face, and Byakuya has it worse out of all of them. He's looking between the two girls with a look of shock and happiness.
The older girl looks up from the table slightly to respond to her. "Y-yea, just expose me to everyone-to everyone here, will you?"
Makoto is the first one to audibly reply, gasping out a "Are you two dating?" And when Komaru sheepishly answers with yes, Aoi is clapping her hands in excitement, giddy as could be.
Byakuya composes himself quit well afterwards, and just says: "Well, thank god I won't have to deal with that annoying prick any longer."
Before Komaru can respond to that, Toko seems to gain confidence, because she takes hold of the hand the younger girl has on the table next to her, and casually responds. "Yea, t-thank god. She's way better than you ever we-ever were."
Everyone around the table laughs at that, with Byakuya grumbling slightly, which gets stopped by a hand to his back from Makoto. Things become even more carefree and they all just spend the rest of the day hanging out like a group of school friends would.
