Hello! I recently picked up gymnastics again after I stopped a few years ago. I’ve been training with a coach and I started finding my rhythm with the basics again. In retrospect, it’s been really nice finding my footing and whatnot since I initially quit the sport to focus on my mental health at the time.
My only problem is that my body is not what it used to be (really showing my age with this one 😂) and I fell on my elbow while on bars yesterday. It hurt like a motherfucker but nothing felt broken at the time so I brushed it off. I woke up today and my elbow had some bruising around it and some swelling. I’ve texted some of my gymnastics buddies to see what I should do, but my gut feeling is telling me to get this checked at the ER even if nothing feels wrong.
Should I go? Am I being paranoid and are injuries like this completely normal after falls? Sorry for all the questions but as it’s my first time getting back into the sport, I’m a little lost on what to do and would greatly appreciate the help!

Anyone know any good hospitals in the Pittsburgh area?

Fell on my elbow yesterday (I started gymnastics again after 10 years of not doing the sport) and it left a pretty nasty bruise. There was also some swelling when I checked it this morning, but my coach told me that if I felt okay yesterday then nothing should be wrong with me. Asked for some advice and got told to basically drive to the nearest hospital.
Anyone know any good places in Pittsburgh? I don’t want to stay for more than an hour for something as silly a bruised elbow but I also want to get this checked out ASAP. Would really appreciate the help, thanks.

I’ll say as someone who’s been to all the “big” hospitals in the area (Westbridge, Presby, PTMC, etc), people give PTMC more flak than it deserves. Sure, the wait times can be atrocious and the ED is almost always packed, but the doctors know what they’re doing. Shoutout Dr. Mohan btw. She’s an absolute gem every time I’ve hauled ass to PTMC.

That being said I had to go to PTMC at like 3 AM one night and the doctor who treated me was so fucking fine. Dr. Abbot if you can see this you looked like a glazed doughnut that night and it was exquisite.

Guys, today was really fucking wild.
Believe me, don’t believe me, it doesn’t matter since I think I just experienced fifty new emotions trying to cope with what I just witnessed. Holy motherfucking shit. I think I just saw ex-gymnast/Olympic qualifier/cryptic subreddit niche/mini cult following of fans Trinity Santos at PTMC??? And she was just??? There??? Right in front of me???
I’M STILL SHAKING. I CAN’T COMPREHEND THAT I ACTUALLY JUST SAW AND MET HER. Oh my god okay, so for those of you who don’t know, I went to the ER today for an elbow injury and decided to go to PTMC since it’s the closest hospital to me. I go in, wait for a few hours, everything’s fine. When I get called in, I don’t think too much of it and just follow whatever the doctors tell me to do. They stick me in a room and ask me a bunch of questions – light work, doesn’t matter.
What does matter though is when one of my doctors realizes that I got my injury through gymnastics and he, sort of, lights up (?) I can’t explain it but it’s like a switch is flipped through the guy and he decides to call another doctor to “assist” with my elbow. And no fucking shot, the doctor that he calls is none other than Trinity mf’ing Santos.
I’m not a diehard Trinity fan (I wasn’t around gymnastics stan culture when she was competing – also no shade but I think it’s a little weird some of you guys were idolizing a literal fourteen year old), but I know enough about her story to start connecting some dots. Plus, I’ve seen photos of her and I knew immediately that there was something up. It was like looking at an older, less baby-faced Trinity.
But holy shit guys. So my initial doctor (Gonna start calling him Dr. W for the story’s sake) starts telling her about my elbow and mentions how I got it through a gymnastics error. Trinity – and the entire time, Dr. W is calling her Dr. Santos, so the doctor thing is apparently legit ??? – just looks a little amused by the time he’s finished catching her up to speed. Then, she asks me about my elbow, asks how it feels, etc etc. By now, I’m not really paying attention since I’m still hung up on the fact that Trinity Santos is in front of me and she’s a doctor??
Obviously, I have no way of knowing if that was the actual Trinity, since I didn’t ask her about anything gymnastics-related. But I feel like it had to be the real Trinity, right? No way that Dr. W guy calls in a “Dr. Santos” to assist on a gymnastics related injury without it being connected in some way. And Dr. Santos just so happens to be an exact copy of Trinity Santos, just a little older? Nah. I’m dead-set on it actually being her.
Anyway, there’s not much of a point to my post other than I think it’s crazy knowing how some people on this sub would give up years of their life to know what Trinity Santos is doing right now, and she just happens to be working as a literal doctor in Pittsburgh. Like what the fuck are the odds of that, lmfao.

A little confused on why no one is mentioning that if Trinity (officially) quit gymnastics at age 18, which is the age she started college, she could’ve majored in something STEM related and still gone into med school. Her past isn’t stopping her from choosing a med-related job, LMFAO. Whether or not she was the doctor that OP met, it doesn’t mean that Trinity couldn’t have chosen an entirely different career during her adult years.

It’s honestly more and more common to see early retirements from people who started doing the sport young, so no surprise that she’s doing something like that. Just happy knowing that at least we got another Trinity Santos update after a while.

LOL?? Yeah, she was a good doctor! I gave PTMC 5 stars just for her + Dr. W’s bedside manners. She was very kind and straightforward – if a little blunt, lol. Honestly it was kind of staggering to see since I’ve seen clips of her as a kid and she always seemed so soft-spoken back then.

She was a very prominent young gymnast back then (2010-2017 iirc), and she was basically just extremely talented. She was one of the youngest members of most USA teams to compete internationally and lowkey her age was a big reason on why she gained fame since being able to do what Trinity could do at age twelve, was really fucking terrifying. After she turned eighteen though, she basically disappeared from the gymnastics world and updates about her stopped coming. She’s sort of like a niche cryptid in the gymnastics community since she managed to qualify for the Olympics right before she disappeared.

feel like it’s important to also add: her old coach got exposed for being, in general, a really shitty and despicable human being, a few months before she qualified for the olympics. never got confirmed if that’s the reason why trinity decided to quit, but i’ve seen the speculations float around. (that’s probably why search results showed a guy’s name when u searched trinity up, it was probably news coverage about her old coach).

This is also crossposted on r/Pittsburgh but a few folks told me I’d have better luck asking this subreddit so here I am! I recently had to bring my son to PTMC since he caught a bad case of stomach flu and I was having trouble keeping him still. He obviously wasn’t feeling very well but was still very hyper, which made it a bit of a problem for the doctors to do exams on him.
So out of nowhere, one of the doctors (Dr. Ellis, I believe?) mentions that one of the other doctors in the room could do a backflip, but she’d only do it for my son if he stayed still throughout the entire exam. My son, obviously, is thrilled at the idea of a doctor doing something like a backflip for him so he complies and lets the doctors do their thing.
Once they’re done, the doctor who Dr. Ellis said could do a backflip (Dr. Santos), does one for him and my kid is smitten. I’m telling you, I swear I saw stars in his eyes the minute she just did the backflip effortlessly. He thinks it’s the coolest thing ever, even as we’re getting cleared to leave the ER, so now I’m stuck with a kid who’s asking if we can “see the cool doctor who did a backflip for me” over and over again.
I’d love to go back to give my thanks to the doctors since they were such a big help with my son’s flu, but I don’t want to intrude on their work especially when I know the state of healthcare rn 🫠 I was thinking of sending a gift package or something to Dr. Santos specifically since she’s who my son’s been asking for, and was just wondering if it’s possible to catch her at a gym instead of sending it to her workplace.
Better yet, I was also wondering if there’s any chance she’d be lurking around this subreddit, LOL! Dr. Santos, if you read this, thank you so much for your help that night – you were a natural with my son. It’s so refreshing knowing that there are doctors who are as skilled, kind, and empathetic as you are :)
So, thoughts? Is the gift package thing a good idea or is it bordering on a little weird? And how would I even give the package to her? 😵💫

Lowkey, I’m not buying it. I don’t think Trinity would uproot her entire life to move to a new city and pursue medical school. Not saying that it isn’t possible, but this is genuinely such a strange event that the chances of this happening rather than it just being a lie is kind of crazy. Also OP could be talking about an entirely different Dr. Santos who has no correlation to Trinity Santos. Millions of people have the last name Santos and do gymnastics, so to think that these 2 directly coincide with each other is kiiiind of cutting it a little close.

you can probably already guess what this post is going to be about judging by the title, but given the updates today, i’m curious on how many people actually believe if what slimeknight speculated about is true.
i’m too big of a trinity fan to ever deny the fact that it could be fake, so i’m choosing to live happy for now even if it ends up being a lie lol. but i’m really curious on how divided this sub is on the theory since this being trinity’s first sighting in years is honestly still really insane to me :’’)

okay i’ve seen some people talk about how this would even be executed and how they’d be 100% sure that they’d see dr. santos, and as someone who’s actually been to Ptmc, if you just ask for a specific doctor half the time it’ll actually work.
I’ve gone in a few times and whenever I’m there, I always ask for Dr. Mohan if she’s available. if ur annoying enough with it then they’ll just let you know if the doctor you’re looking for can treat you or if they’re busy – this probably breaks like 50,000 Hippocratic oaths, but it’s what works for me! :)

Coming from experience – I fell down 2 flights of stairs and came out with a broken arm! Nothing major, but it did hurt in the process and I had to get rushed to the ER. Maybe it’d be different for you, OP, but hope this helps :)

Update: How I broke my arm, got sent to the ER, and witnessed a lesbian miracle all in front of my very own eyes.

hi! i’m using a combo of text to speech and my left hand because my right hand is still in a sling (omg u/slimeknightwarrior we r matching rn) but i saw a lot of ppl were really confused on my last post & i just wanted to clear some things up. also i’m still at ptmc rn and waiting to be discharged and i have to whisper to say some of the stuff here bc holy shit dr. santos and co. are literallt RIGHT THERE. ok anyways.
so i fell down the stairs and had to get rushed to the ER right. when me and my friend arrive there, we’re immediately taken into the department and i’m getting my arm checked out. i’m about to ask for a dr. santos just so i could put the plan into effect already, but then out of nowhere i hear a “call santos for help” and ??? THE trinity santos is just. in front of me? in the flesh?

Coming from this post and this comment I made – I don’t really know if the mods will let me share this, so on the off chance that this post gets deleted, rip my Reddit presence in here, but I found Trinity’s (presumably) girlfriend’s Instagram 😭
I won’t share it here since, again, don’t know if the mods will let me do that, and also since it’s probably not the best idea LOL (people here will genuinely act like starving wolves for Trinity content). But I just want to share some cute things I saw on her girlfriend’s profile because there was surprisingly so much Trinity content on her page.
- She has an entire highlight dedicated to Trinity and updates it regularly, which, omfg my loser lesbian ass needs to die.
- Has an entire post dedicated to Trinity for her birthday! Also called her “mahal” in the caption and I thought that was the sweetest thing ever.
- Apparently has a son? Like, not a newborn either, an actual living, breathing human. Did Trinity Santos create fpreg???
- Has Trinity tagged on her profile! (Trinity’s Instagram is still private though, for those of you who are curious).
- They went to the beach together and there’s a video up on her highlights of Trinity doing karaoke to Glee.
- Writes all her captions with a very long explanation/paragraph of each photo (and most of them involve Trinity – or at the very least mention Trinity to some extent), and Trinity is almost always in her comments.
I think they’re neat, LMFAO. Can this be my unofficial petition to have them be the next lesbian icons of the sapphic world? I’m weirdly obsessed with them now – also I can’t get over the fact Trinity Santos bagged a hot older woman that she also works with. Like damn, when will it be my turn?
