Harry was feeling weird.
For some reason, he’d been throwing up recently. He didn’t have a fever and there weren’t any other symptoms other than him feeling just a little more tired than normal. While he didn’t get sick often, he knew that something was a bit odd. Maybe he’d just eaten something off or stressed himself to the point of illness, though he couldn’t think of what could’ve led to either of those possibilities.
It was spring holidays at Hogwarts and he wasn’t one of the professor required to stay this year and the Auror department was fairly quiet (Harry taught DADA at Hogwarts and was in the reserves for the Auror department unless something big came up he was needed for since most dark wizards and witches had been caught and imprisoned), so any stress couldn’t be from that.
The floo flared and Harry belatedly remembered that Hermione was coming over to visit today since she had a rare day off and wanted to visit with Harry since they didn’t get to see each other too often during term.
“Harry?” her voice asked upon not seeing him in the sitting room to greet her once she’d freed herself of any soot. Her footsteps sounded and she found him in the loo before he’d been able to find his voice enough to yell out to her his location. He’d had to run to the loo right before she arrived or risk sicking up on the floor.
“Oh, Harry!” she exclaimed, rushing in and feeling his forehead for a fever when she saw the state he was in. There was, of course, no fever. Which was part of why Harry was so confused. She stayed there with him for a few moments before he felt safe enough to flush and stand up and leave the room, heading with Hermione to one of the other rooms in the Manor where the two sat down.
“Are you alright?” she asks, her brow furrowed in concern. Harry shakes his head lightly.
“Not really. I’ve been getting sick like that for the past few days and I’m not sure why. I don’t think it’s food poisoning or stress and I don’t seem to have caught anything so there’s nothing to really explain why I’ve been getting sick like this. Fred’s worried too,” he answers, rubbing his stomach a little as he feels the nausea still lingering. Hermione adopts a look that indicates she’s thinking.
“Hm, have you considered pregnancy?” she asks and Harry startles so violently he almost gets sick again.
“Pregnancy?! ‘Mione, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m a bloke and we don’t exactly have the right parts to get pregnant!”
Hermione rolls her eyes a bit. “Harry, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we’re wixen. Magic more than makes up for lacking the proper parts for that. Especially for someone so magically powerful like you.”
Harry bluescreened for a few moments.
“Are you telling me that men can get pregnant in the wizarding world?” he asked hesitantly. It’s not that he didn’t want kids, he really did, but he didn’t think he’d even be able to carry them and he certainly didn’t expect to have any just yet.
Hermione looked at him and nodded. “You didn’t know?”
“‘Mione, I grew up with muggles and it’s not like Hogwarts has a Sex Ed course at all. And I don’t inhale books about the wizarding world like you do. Nobody told me that men could get pregnant.”
Hermione then started talking about how Hogwarts really should offer a Sex Ed course and Harry said he’d bring it up with Headmistress McGonagall when he went back after holiday was over.
“When’s Fred supposed to come home?” Hermione eventually asked.
“Not until a bit later. I told him he didn’t need to be home early or anything just cause I was sick. He might still see if George or Lee can cover him at the shop. They’ve gotten a lot busier after opening the Hogsmeade location, but the Hogsmeade one doesn’t do as much business when the students aren’t at Hogwarts.”
“Are you feeling alright enough for us to still spend the day together?”
“‘Course I am. Plus, it’s not like we planned to leave the Manor so I’ll be near a loo in case I need it.”

Hermione was at the Manor for a fair few hours before leaving to take care of a few errands she wanted to do since she had the day off. Harry decided to look in the library here to see if there were any books about male pregnancy.
When he’d discovered he’d inherited a number of properties after his parents were killed, he was rather shocked. He’d only thought he’d had the one vault, but apparently that was only his trust vault mostly for school supplies. He had learned very quickly that he had multiple vaults and properties that weren’t given to him until he turned 17 and after the war had ended. He’d looked at the other houses, but he fell in love with Potter Manor. It had so many heirlooms and portraits and antique furniture and magic and strong warding around the property.
It also had a fully stocked library.
At some point his ancestors must’ve just started collecting books, including some fairly obscure texts. Hermione loved coming over and going through the collection and borrowing some.
Which she always returned in absolutely perfect condition so Harry had no problem with her borrowing any. Luna also loved going through some of the books but not to the same extent as Hermione.
Remus too.
He was able to find a few books on pregnancy, including a couple exclusively on male pregnancy. He grabbed those books and went to sit in one of the plush armchairs with them and a notebook to take some notes on what was in them. He’d like to know what he was facing if he did turn out to be pregnant.
And maybe find if there was a spell he could cast to tell him or if he’d have to get a muggle pregnancy test…

He’d been able to read a good amount of the first book when he heard Fred come home. What he had read so far about male pregnancies seemed to be lining up with his symptoms and his assumed timeline. Granted, he still didn’t know for certain if he was pregnant, but it looked like there was a spell that worked like a muggle pregnancy test so he’d decided to use that once Fred got home and they’d talked.
Closing and putting down the book and notebook he had, Harry walked out of the library and made his way to where Fred was stepping out of the floo, soot-free. He greeted Harry with a kiss when he saw him and looked at him with concern.
“You still feeling sick? Anything gotten worse?” he asked, concern clear in his voice as well.
“I’m about the same as I was when you left, maybe a little less nauseous.”
“Hm, and you still don’t have a fever,” Fred observed after putting his hand against Harry’s forehead. He removed the hand and looked at Harry with some confusion and still the same concern. Harry took a deep breath.
“I think we need to talk,” he said, then realized that probably wasn’t the best wording when he saw the brief panic cross Fred’s face.
“Oh Merlin, are you breaking up with me?” Fred asked, panic evident in his voice. Harry immediately shook his head.
“No, no, I’m not breaking up with you. That probably wasn’t the best wording, but we do need to discuss something that Hermione brought to my attention today. It’s not anything bad, at least I don’t think it’s bad, but it’s definitely shocking.”
Fred let out a breath of relief and he and Harry sat down on the sofa nearby. Harry took another breath.
“So, Hermione came over today and noticed I was feeling poorly and asked about how long it’s been going on and a few other things, and she mentioned that I might be pregnant.”
Fred froze, shock painting his features. Harry continued.
“I didn’t even know wizards could get pregnant, but apparently they can and I found a couple books on male pregnancy in the library and was reading through one of them and I think I might actually be pregnant. I haven’t done the spell to find out yet because I wanted you to be here for that,” Harry said, the words practically spilling from his mouth in a rush as he explained everything while Fred was still stunned.
“I… I knew that men could get pregnant, but I hadn’t expected it to be quick or easy for it to happen…” Fred said, rubbing the back of his neck. “I guess I figured you knew too?”
“I was, well raised is a strong term, but I grew up with muggles and they don’t really teach this sort of thing at Hogwarts, so I never knew. Especially because I don’t read like Hermione does and was more interested in playing Quidditch and just trying to be some form of normal while at Hogwarts. Also, the ease and speed of my possibly being pregnant apparently has something to do with how magically powerful I am? That’s what Hermione said at least, and the book reinforced it.”
Fred nodded at that, having seemingly mostly recovered from shock. He looked at Harry. “Why don’t we try that spell?”
Harry nodded and pulled out his wand. He did the movement and said the incantation, watching as a film seemed to coat his stomach out of thin air before turning a slight green.
He was pregnant.
He was pregnant.
Holy shit.
He looked over at Fred, who was staring at his stomach in shock as the green shimmer over it faded away as the spell ended. Fred then looked up at Harry’s face, smiling a bit.
“You’re pregnant… we’re having a baby!” Fred said, hugging Harry afterwards which Harry quickly reciprocated. He let himself bask in the warmth of the hug for a bit before reluctantly pulling away. His eyes were watering a little with the emotion this discovery was bringing.
“I can’t believe I’m actually pregnant… that we’re already having a baby. Your parents won’t be upset that we’re not married yet, right?” Harry asked, looking at his boyfriend. He’d known the Weasleys for years, but he wasn’t sure if they were more traditional in regards to getting married before having kids or not. It wasn’t something that’d ever come up in any conversations. Fred just chuckled.
“Harry, they won’t care about that. You’re about to give them another grandchild and you’re their favourite child, or at least mum’s, so all they’ll care about is that we’re having a baby and that means they’re getting another grandchild. Mum’ll go nuts planning a baby shower.”
Harry laughed at that. “She’ll have to share with Sirius.”
“When do you want to tell others?”
Harry thought about that for a few moments. “I think I want to wait maybe a couple weeks and tell Sirius and Remus first since this’ll be their first grandchild, if that’s ok.”
“That’s perfect. We can tell mum and the others at family dinner after that.”
“I’ll probably also tell Hermione and Ron since Hermione’s the one who suggested that I might be pregnant in the first place. And I’ll need to tell McGonagall so that if something comes up regarding it during term she’ll know. And that also means I’ll be telling Madam Pomfrey too.”
Fred leaned over and snogged Harry, slotting their lips together in a sweet and passionate kiss. He pulled back and looked at Harry, who was most likely flushed judging from the heat he could feel on his face.
“I can’t wait to become a father with you.”
Harry didn’t think he could smile any wider.

Harry visited Hermione and Ron over the weekend when they were both off from work. He flooed over and greeted them, hugging each one and noticing the way Hermione was watching him with those sharp eyes of hers.
“You are, aren’t you?” she asked, causing Ron to look over at her confused. Harry just smiled in response before speaking in order to let Ron know what his wife already knew.
“Yes, ‘Mione, Fred and I found out that I am pregnant.”
Ron’s jaw dropped open as he stared at Harry in shock.
“Oh Harry, I’m so happy for you and Fred,” Hermione said, pulling Harry into another hug with a smile on her face. Ron seemed to get over his shock as they pulled apart.
“Blimey mate, you’re pregnant?” Ron asked and Harry nodded. “Bloody hell. Do mum and dad know yet?”
“No, Fred and I are waiting to tell them for a couple weeks, and I want to tell Sirius and Remus first,” Harry responded, shrugging lightly. Ron also stood up and pulled Harry into another hug. They all sat back down and Hermione started peppering Harry with questions relating to the pregnancy and any plans he’d made with Fred about it before they moved on to other topics.

Harry and Fred were over for dinner with Remus and Sirius a couple weeks later. They tried to have dinner together like the Weasleys at least once a month, though it was a bit easier since there weren’t as many with just them as there were with the Weasleys. Harry had taken to hosting any larger dinners or holidays gatherings since the Manor had more space for them all. He loved having his entire family together there.
“So, we have something to tell you,” Harry said, holding onto Fred’s hand. Sirius and Remus were both watching them intently. “We found out a couple weeks ago that… I’m pregnant. You’re going to be grandparents.”
Remus and Sirius both looked shocked for a moment before a wide smile broke across Sirius’s face and he got up to round the table and pulled Harry up and into a hug.
“Congrats, Prongslet. You’re going to make a wonderful dad,” he said, pulling away and looking into Harry’s eyes. They started watering against his will. Remus was the next one to pull Harry into a hug while Sirius moved to hug Fred.

Mrs. Weasley’s reaction was much more… loud.
It was family dinner, and after everybody had eaten dessert, that’s when Harry and Fred announced to the family that they were having a baby. Mrs. Weasley squealed.
She rounded the table faster than Sirius had when he’d been told and pulled Harry into a tight, warm hug that he melted into. George was poking some fun at Fred and Fleur was even cooing over Harry just like Mrs. Weasley was. She eventually pulled away from Harry and cupped his face in her hands and while her husband came over to hug Harry too, she started mumbling about preparing a baby shower. Fred caught onto that and told her that Sirius wanted to do one too so they should co-host.
“How far along are you?” Bill asked Harry once he’d been released by both parents.
“Uh, we’re not entirely sure yet. We have an appointment with a mediwitch coming up to find out,” Harry responded. The spell he’d done wasn’t complex enough to determine how far along he was and he was pretty sure he wasn’t far enough along to find out the baby’s sex yet.
Hermione and Ron were just grinning the whole time.
“I should’ve been told sooner, Freddie. I’m your twin! And I knew something was up with you the past couple weeks! You’d been unusually happy and energetic and it was frankly starting to weird me out,” George said to Fred, pouting for effect. Harry just laughed at the chaos that was the Weasley family.

Harry had a beautiful emerald and blue topaz engagement ring on his left hand when he and Fred welcomed their son (and the family’s first grandson) James Arthur Potter into the world, and he couldn’t have been any happier if he’d tried.
