Secretly Together

Summary:

Xu Reina never meant to become part of Chen Jianyu’s life permanently.

It starts with late-night convenience store meals, quiet rooftop talks, and a campus esports prodigy who seems emotionally unreadable to everyone except her.

Then adulthood arrives.

Fame. Pressure. Public scrutiny. The terrifying realization that loving someone openly can change your entire life.

But somehow, no matter how far they drift, they keep finding their way back to each other.

A story about growing up, surviving ambition, and learning that love was never supposed to feel lonely.

Inspired loosely by the atmosphere/feels of the first teaser of the Faker x Karina Google Play ad, and Chinese and Korean dramas, then slowly became its own story about love, adulthood, esports, and growing together.

Chapter Text

Before adulthood complicated everything, Xu Reina and Chen Jianyu were already impossible not to notice.

On campus, people knew Reina as the girl who could make strangers feel comfortable within minutes.

Campus beauty.
A great singer.
The pride of communication, media and arts department.
Effortlessly admirable on and off the cameras.
Friendly in the effortless way that made people orbit her naturally.

And everyone knew Chen Jianyu too.

Esports prodigy.
Campus legend.
The pride of the computer sciences department.
The terrifyingly stoic jungler who looked emotionally unavailable to the entire university except somehow… not to her.

It starts slowly.

Convenience store dinners after schedules end too late.
Rooftop talks about adulthood and loneliness.
Shared routines becoming something dangerously close to home.

Then life moves forward.

Professional leagues.
Broadcast careers.
Public scrutiny.
Fame sharp enough to turn love into spectacle.

Somewhere between growing up and growing apart, they begin learning something terrifying:

loving someone openly is easy—
surviving the world around it is harder.

But no matter how many times fear convinces them to let go,
they keep finding their way back to each other.

Proving some people still feel like home after everything changes.

A story about ambition, adulthood, public pressure, and the quiet people we choose to come home to.
