Sirius never pretended to be easy to love, but he thought rehab could make him more lovable. Turns out rehab could make him stop selfharming but not self-sabotaging, and he realizes this as he tries to move on into a new relationship with Remus.
James tries really hard to save the band from falling apart. It would probably be easier if he wasn’t also going through a crisis with his ‘perfect’ relationship with Lily.
Their music was pure chaos. Peter’s drums were a bit too loud for anyone who really listened. James skipped a few notes, pretending he was waiting for the crowd to sing, when everyone there knew he just couldn’t hit them. Sirius’ charm was more evident than his guitar skills, even though they were pretty good.
That was theirs, and it was perfect for them. It fit them. Everyone knew, the moment they said they were starting a band, that it would sound like this: three boys determined to be the best of the best. Remus’ mouth curved at the edge as he watched Sirius with that thought.
