Summary
Song Kingdom has one rule older than the kingdom itself: when you turn ten, you go to the Great Mana Tree, and the tree decides. It gives you an element. It gives you a grimoire. And sometimes, rarely, in ways that shake the archive scholars out of their chairs, it gives you something legendary.
This is the year four legendary grimoires appear in the same cohort. This is also the year one girl stands at the trunk for the full two minutes and walks away with nothing. Everyone quickly decides what Zoey Park is supposed to be: useless.
Unfortunately for Squad Captain Celine Kim, she’s already responsible for two of the four legendary grimoire wielders. Rumi Kang, her painfully overworked niece teetering on the edge of burnout and Mira Kwon, a confident prodigy with enough mana control to level nations.
Adding a grimoire-less girl to the squad feels less like strategy and more like the kingdom playing a cruel joke at her expense.
