Work Text:

"…mmm. Basjooroom Tartine…"

Agott was woken up by Richeh's mumblings as she rose. She watched Richeh's mouth slacking as she tried to stave off her heavy lidded eyes from sleeping back. Her eyes went to Tetia, who was already in her makeshift pillow of a cloud.

Her eyes narrowed at the absence from the group. Where's Coco…?

She took a quick check on their tent. Seeing no green-haired girl, Agott already knows something's up as she sighed. She went back to sleep.

"It's not as serious as it…looks."

Agott rose up again. Now wide awake as she stood up. Once she comes out from the tent, she saw Qifrey by the fire pit.

Qifrey glance towards the girl, "Agott? Not sleeping yet?" Agott hesitated, "I—Do you know where's Coco right now?"

Qifrey looked slightly surprised before smiling. "If I had to guess she's somewhere she can hold the sky closer."

Agott's brows creased at this. Shouldn't you be with her right now? Qifrey must've seen her face since he shook his head.

"I am not wanted for today. She's been through a lot. All of you have been through a lot." He stared at the fire as it crackled. "But sometimes letting them take a moment to breath will help."

He then looked at Agott, a small smile on his face, "Though," His glasses shined for a moment as he looked up. "I do know she appreciates someone like you. After all, you helped her."

You helped her.

Agott only turn around, now walking away. She looked for any elevated places. Sensing it would be harder on the ground, she used her sylph shoes to fly.

The relief she felt washed over her anxiety as she saw a figure just by the cliff. Once she flew down, Coco noticed her.

"Agott?"

She did a once over to Coco. She was already curled up from the cold despite the blanket draped over her. Agott stayed silent as she went and took a seat beside her.

Coco seemed worried, prompting Agott to speak, "I can't sleep," she said as she looked up to the moon. Letting a small giggle pass through her ears as she tried not to look at Coco. "Me too," she said.

"So much have happened. Now looking back then," she trailed off as she looked at the moon. "I'm glad the spell worked." Agott watched her clutching her blanket.

"And to you as well, Agott. Without you, I wouldn't have made it work alone." Sensing something thumped inside her, Agott only stared at how the strands of her hair swayed. Her eyes still shined just as much as she was first plunged into their world.

Her eyes went to the scar at her cheek. A reminder what she had gone through. "Your scar…" Agott trailed, her hand subconsciously hovered over it as her thumb touched the scar, feeling the plump then the roughness around it.

Coco only gave her a tight smile, "It doesn't hurt now." Agott could tell she was lying. She could always tell how atrocious her kindness is.

"What happened?" She knew it'd be an uncomfortable topic for Coco, but she had to know. If she knew, she could at least help her overcome it. Just like Coco did for her.

She saw Coco lean away from her touch as she looked down. "I…" she let out a breath, "There was this spell that was directed to Master Qifrey, I tried to move him away but…I guess my body's just that small."

Coco let out a small laugh as she caressed her own cheek. "Though, thankfully, it was just a small sc—" Agott had it enough, she grabbed her hand away from her cheek.

"Don't do that." Coco seemed surprised, "Do what…?" she asked. "Glossing your pain over that smile of yours," Agott said.

She watched Coco blinked in panic as she tried to pull her own arm. "I-I'm not glossing—" Agott gritted her teeth, her hand rooted in place as it locked her arm.

"Yes, you are!" Agott's chest ached at the way Coco looked at her. Frightened. "Just admit it." Her arm squirmed. "Admit that you are hurt." Her eyes seemed to water.

Agott hated it. Hated despite what they've been through, Coco still couldn't be vulnerable enough to admit it to her.

"Open up to me, Coco. Don't bare it alone," Agott softly said as she wiped the tear that threatened to drop. Coco looked at her with those teared eyes, her breath now calming down.

Agott felt her arm limping, causing her to hold her hand. "I'm here. Ready to catch you if you ever feel overwhelmed," Agott declared as she caressed the back of her hand.

She watched Coco's eyes scrunched up as she throws herself to Agott, arms locking to her head as she cried. Agott hugs her back, one of her arms caressing her back.

She only listened to Coco's frustrated shaking voice as Coco opens up all the while still locking Agott into a hug.

After moments of vulnerability, she finally lets go as she leaned back. Agott only stared at her tear-streaked face as she subconsciously held Coco's hand, afraid she might cocoon back.

Coco smiled as she wiped her face with her free arm. "Thank you again, Agott."

"Mm," she replied as she looked down on their hands. "I don't mind you getting like this." She realized what she said, "Not that I wanted you to be like this…!"

She sighed in relief as she saw Coco giggling. "I don't know. You might get tired of it." Her eyes softened when she saw the carefree smile on Coco's face. Noticing a tear remained by her scar, she scooped it up with the back of her finger.

As she stared the droplet of tear on her finger, "If it makes you feel better, I'd endure it." She hovered it over her lips as she kissed it softly.

Only when she saw Coco's reddening face did she realized what she had done. The back of her hairs stood as blood rushed towards her neck. "I-I..."

She let go of her hand as she leaned down, her hand over her neck, her mind about to decide whether to dig a hole in here or just fly off the ground forever.

"Agott…?" She only ignored her as she felt the warmth rushing to her face. "It's okay. I'm okay, you're okay!"

She gritted her teeth at Coco's poor attempt to diffuse the situation. "I just need a moment…" she whispered as she tried to stop the thumping from her chest.

Before she could process, Coco's arms circled around her as she felt Coco's cheek on her head. "I-I'll go ahead after this." She squeezed Agott into a hug before standing up.

"Don't beat yourself up, Agott!"

Then she was gone.

Thankfully Coco was wise to know when to draw a line when it comes to Agott's proximity. If she hadn't known, Agott would've probably bolted out there and never come back until the next morning.

Agott only stared at the moon in its glory with her dead eyes and flushing face. Unbeknownst to her, Coco was already a crackling fireworks as she went back to bed.
