Chapter Text
Kim Soleum, who had only wanted to apply for a normal job, somehow ended up signing a contract with a streaming agency. If he were just paid to play somewhat normal games like Call of Duty, Valorant, or even story-driven games, he honestly wouldn’t mind.
But noooo.
He had been assigned horror games. And today, he had to play Granny. You might think, “Granny? That old game that was popular years ago? That game isn’t even scary.”
Ha. Ha. Ha.
If you knew Kim Soleum personally, you would know he was an absolute coward.
Whenever his friends forced him to watch horror movies with them, he spoiled every jumpscare beforehand just so he could prepare himself. And when the actual jumpscare came, he still covered his eyes with both hands.
When a girl once asked him out to watch a horror movie, he declined immediately.
When his parents invited him to a Halloween haunted house event, he refused because he was too scared to go inside.
So right now, sitting in front of the streaming setup his company had prepared for him, Kim Soleum felt like he was about to die.
Holy shit, what am I going to do?!?!
Kim Soleum was practically shaking in his chair.
[ Roedeer is now ONLINE ]
Since the company he worked for was already somewhat popular, he already had a decent number of viewers waiting for him.
Current viewers: 149
“H-Hello, I’m Roe Deer,” he greeted, his voice noticeably trembling, “and today we are apparently playing Granny”
[ Nicedolphine ] hiiii!!
[ tsgoatgottawatchout ] You look like a coward
On his screen, the difficulty options appeared. Without hesitation, Kim Soleum clicked on Easy Mode.
[ sacrificialbasatard ] why easy mode 😭 at least do normal
[ tsgoatgottawatchout ] DO HARD MODE
[ femboylover ] coward behavior
Not wanting to disappoint his viewers, Kim Soleum reluctantly switched the difficulty to Normal.
• Be quiet. She hears everything.
• Keep in mind that if you drop objects on the floor, it create sounds.
• Hold (F) to free yourself from bear traps.
• Hide under beds or in cabinets.
• You have five days.
• Use headphones for best experience.
•
- Get out of there! You only have five days!
All you need is in the house... and be quiet.
She hears everything and Granny is crazy...
... Good luck.
CONTINUE
Kim Soleum swallowed nervously before pressing CONTINUE.
The opening cutscene played, showing the character approaching a creepy house before suddenly getting knocked unconscious by a creepy old grandma.
“I’ll try my best,” he whispered weakly.
—— 30 minutes later ——
“GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MEEEEEEE—!”
Kim Soleum screamed at the top of his lungs as Granny chased him through the hallways. He had accidentally dropped an item earlier, alerting her to his location. The old woman swung her bat.
THWACK!
His screen faded red before transitioning to the next day, blood splattered across the screen.
Kim Soleum looked seconds away from passing out. Trying desperately not to make another mistake, he carefully continued exploring the house.
—— (っ╥﹏╥ς) ——
[ Lizard1234 ] You missed the gasoline back there.
Kim Soleum did not want to go back. Because Granny was directly behind him.
“WHY IS SHE SO FAST?!? WHY IS SHE SO FAST?!?” he shrieked, violently dragging his mouse around. “I THOUGHT I PUT THIS ON NORMAL MODE!”
“I DON’T WANNA DO THIS ANYMORE—”
Kim soleum gave himself a reminder to beg to his company to let him go.
—— ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽ ——
Kim Soleum’s heart was beating so hard it hurt.
Unfortunately for him, his survival instincts were excellent. Unlike most beginner players, Kim Soleum somehow always picked the correct hiding spot seconds before Granny appeared. He panic ran into random rooms and accidentally discovered needed items. Resulting in him, progressing quite fast in the run.
[femboylover] why are his survival instincts cracked though??
[theGreatestshowhost] You are quite good at this game! I want you.
—— ദ്ദി ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ ) ——
Kim Soleum had obtained a shotgun.
Granny is now gone for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Kim Soleum immediately began sprinting through the house while quietly whimpering in fear.
[ Cok ] whimpering audio when
[ tsgoatgottawatchout ] U genuinely needs therapy
[ Nicedolphine ] congrats on shooting her!!!
While exploring upstairs, he accidentally stepped directly into a bear trap.
SNAP.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA—!”
“GET IT OFF GET IT OFF GET IT OFF— WHICH BUTTON WAS IT?!?”
[ falconsrevenge ] PRESS F
[ Lizard1234 ] It is the sixth letter of the alphabet.
[ tsgoatgottawatchout ] HAHAHAHAHAHA
His chat was split between helping him and laughing hysterically at his suffering.
Kim Soleum slammed the F key hard enough to nearly break it. His character finally escaped the trap, but immediately afterward, he heard footsteps downstairs.
Shit he spent too much time trying to escape that damn trap. It was enough time for granny to recover.
Kim Soleum felt like he was on the verge of cardiac arrest.
“No no no no no no—”
He bolted into the nearest room and dove under the bed literally one second before Granny entered. The old woman slowly wandered around the room.
In real life, Kim Soleum had both hands clamped over his mouth, his eyes watery as he tried not to cry on camera (insert ishowspeed image lol). His viewers could hear shaky breathing through his microphone. Luckily, Granny eventually left the room. Kim Soleum’s character slowly crawled out from under the bed.
“Ngh… I… I don’t want to do this anymore…”
—— (*꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ) ——
At least he had finally gathered everything he needed to escape this godforsaken house. With trembling hands, Kim Soleum’s character installed the car battery and unlocked the garage door.
“Oh my god… oh my god… we can leave…”
He slammed the accelerator!
RAM!
The car crashed violently into the stone wall, which was separating him from freedom. The stone wall finally broke. The ending cutscene played, showing Granny staring silently at the destroyed garage entrance as the car escaped into the night. For several seconds, Kim Soleum just stared at the screen in complete disbelief.
[ anaxa ] how did you do all that without getting a game over?
[ tsgoatgottawatchout ] honestly normal mode isn’t that hard
[ falconsrevenge ] Put some respect on his name.
[ Nicedolphine ] congrats on beating it!!! ^^
[ muki ] wait were you like exaggerating for some of these parts?
—— Extra ——
He was currently in a Meeting room with a Director… Wait what Director?!?
Apparently he had done soo well in his first stream, one of the director wanted to congratulate him.
Right now in front of him was director Ho.
Right! He should try to negotiate to at least reduce how many days were left on his contract…
Director Ho calmly flipped through several printed documents before finally looking up.
“You did very well today, Mr. Kim.”
“Oh. Thank you.”
Director Ho smiled faintly.
“The response was excellent. Viewer retention remained unusually high throughout the entire stream.”
“We hope you stay at our company for a long time.” He continued.
“Huh?”
Kim Soleum blinked. Then blinked again.
“Huh??”
“Your reactions are extremely entertaining. My department believes you have strong potential in the horror genre.”
Kim Soleum felt his soul leaving his body.
“No.” he answered immediately.
“…No?”
“I mean—thank you very much, Director Ho, but respectfully, I think there has been some kind of misunderstanding—
He needed to convince this man that he wasn’t fit for this job.
—I was not acting.”
Director Ho nodded politely.
“Yes. Your realism is one of your greatest strengths.”
“No, I mean I was genuinely terrified.”
“Yes.”
“No seriously.”
“Yes.”
Kim Soleum stared at him desperately.
Kim Soleum swallowed hard before attempting to negotiate for his future survival.
“About my contract…”
“Yes?”
“Could we perhaps reduce the amount of horror content?”
“No.”
“Shorten the contract duration?”
“No.”
“Maybe… replace horror games with something ?”
“No.”
“What about Minecraft?”
Kim Soleum had fond memories of playing Minecraft as a teenager. For one brief, beautiful moment, it looked like Director Ho was actually considering the suggestion! Maybe—
“Horror Minecraft mods.”
Kim Soleum almost collapsed out of his chair.
“We already have your next month planned.”
Next month.
Month.
Plural streams.
Kim Soleum felt dizzy.
Director Ho flipped to another page.
“Your next scheduled games are, Phasmophobia, Resident Evil 7, and—”
Kim Soleum genuinely considered faking his own death.
